Would June 20-23rd (2018)be a good time to go crowd-wise? Why are AP's blocked that week?

Hi Everyone,

This will be my family's first trip to Disneyland. We can go anytime in June. From what I've read, it seems like avoiding grad nites is a good idea. And also going when AP's are blocked. But are they only blocked on June 20-24th because they are expecting huge crowds? Or would that be a good time to go? We are planning 3-4 days in the parks. Thanks for any help!

The two lower tiered APs are blocked all summer. The Delux AP isn't blocked during that time is it?

I am curious about what is going on as well. We are renting points to stay at Grand California and that week is the only one that is sold out for DVC.

VidCon is happeninf that week. Not sure if that would cause the DVC being sold out.

:confused3 I was curious about this particular week as well. I currently have the 1st week of June booked and booked this week as well figuring I would decide later which one was better. I saw that some of the APs were blocked a couple of the days and wondered if this would be a good thing or a bad thing.

SoCal Select is blocked after June 7th, but SoCal isn't blocked for the summer until after June 28th. Deluxe is generally blocked on Saturdays but good the rest of the week.

I find it odd that DL gave the So Cals LESS block out days. It just doesn’t seem like Disney. Normally it makes things more expensive and gives less in the process!

Maybe it's to make up for what they plan to do in 2019 when SWL opens!

They starting blocking that week every year. And yes, this is a particularly good time to go. I myself will be going those same days in 2018. And for that reason. Usually I do not get this much flexibility choose dates. But next year I do. :)

:wizard:

Those blackout dates have come up in past years (at least since 2010), and I don't think anyone's really ever figured out why. There hasn't been any splashy promotions or start of things on those days in the past, but there must be some reason (even if it's a relic of some really old event or plan).
