would you do dvc for just one night? is it worth it?

we will be on holiday for 2 weeks in oct/nov 2010 and all the accommodation is booked and paid for thro virgin (as I am in the uk), but I thought I would try and do a night at AKV on the last night of our holiday.

I thought we could do out dtd check in at 8 and then spend all day in the resort before heading to the airport later in the day. so we could have two days one night in the resort.

The down side is would we get availability and would we be able to rent so few points?

any thoughts as its driving me nuts.

I think it is a nice idea to spend a night at DVC resort & you are still entitled to use the resort's facilities on the checkout day but if you want to do this go for it asap EDITED TO ADD: the 7 month reservation window IS open for November so this means that DVC Members can book at any DVC resort ( they aren't restricted from that point on to just booking at their Home Resort ) so that means you are in competition against any & all members who may be trying to get a reservation for night you are interested in booking so ideally you'd want to have your reservation in place as quickly as possible.

btw, just so you are clear on this: 7 month reservation window opened for booking on Apr 1 for Nov 1 checkin, Apr 2 if you wanted night of Nov 2, etc.

If you check the Rent-Trade board here on the DIS you may find some members willing to rent small amount of points, but it may be much quicker & easier to use dvcrequest (click on their link atop Rent-Trade board ) although it costs a few dollars more per point than some members rent for, the convenience & peace of mind knowing you've got that night booked is worth it imho.

Best wishes on your planning :goodvibes

Is it worth it? Of course! Any day spent at Disney is worth it. Even if it is only one night. I went to a conference in Orlando once and we spent 5 days at Disney first and then the conference was at the Gaylord. We missed Disney so much we took a taxi to Disney just to go to DTD and eat at Plant Hollywood so you know I am the type of person who would say go for it in this situation!

thank you both. I have just tried to click on the link for dvcbyrequest and I get a forbidden message?

is the site down or am I just forbidden?

btw, just so you are clear on this: 7 month reservation window for booking night you are interested in would open on May 1 for Nov 1 checkin, May 2 if you wanted night of Nov 2, etc.

Actually May 1 for Dec 1, May 2 for Dec 2. As of now you can start booking for Nov 29th.
