Would it be rude to just get dessert at BB?

I'd like the ambiance of Blue Bayou without the pricetag of a full meal. Would it be frowned upon to get a table there and just order a desert/snack and a drink? I had to save up for 2 years plus a tax return in order to make this trip, so regular BB meal prices are out of the budget.

No, unless they have some minimum purchase and that doesn't qualify. If you sat there for 2 hours with your dessert, then yes. ;)

I've been going to Disneyland since around 1970 and I've never eaten there. I figure I get the ambiance on the ride. :)

I'm going to do the same, my friend and I are vegetarian and don't like the sound of the one thing we can eat so we're just going to have dessert so we can experience the restaurant :)

I've heard of others doing it so it shouldn't be an issue. I would however take into consideration the amount of time more so than the amount on the bill when figuring the tip.

I wish I could just order a plate of the potatoes! And then get the flying Dutchman cookie boat dessert thinigie they had a while ago! Yummy!

Oh wait...I will be eating there in 3 days...I can get the potatoes.

An idea might be to schedule an off time, like say the end of the lunch service. Or the first seating for the dinner service. The atmosphere might be a little calmer. :rotfl2: Might even be able to get a water side seat.

That shouldn't be a problem at all. I see nothing wrong with it. Disney is still getting money.

Thanks to everyone for the validation! I've been pondering this for the last month or two while planning our trip....but always wondered how bad it would be to actually do it. I planned on going between lunch and dinner when it wouldn't be too much of an issue with other people waiting for our "just deserts" table.

what kind of desserts do they have at BB? I don't like chocolate at all. Would I find something to eat if we just did dessert?

I wish BB served salads, like a cobb salad or a shrimp salad or whatever else is New Orleans-ish.

Their menu doesn't look all that great to me. We have eaten there once on my birthday a couple years ago and I loved the atmosphere, but thought you didn't get much for the big bucks you have to spend. I guess the huge dinners at the Plaza Inn that my hubby and I split have spoiled me.

Anyway, I wonder what their desserts cost. The menus I look at online only gives prices for the entrees and drinks.

I might think about having dessert and coffee there late evening. or as late as possible on a night the parks close early.

We've gone for just dessert and it's fine. Staff is gracious no matter what you order. I do think it's nice to let them know when you check in that you'd just like dessert. The ambiance is great and worth it, IMO.

Thank you for asking this as I was stressing about the very same thing! We are heading to DL on my son's birthday and we would like to do something special but with the price and my 2 boys restlessness I thought dessert would be best.

It really isn't an issue, but personally if I were to do this I wouldn't be able to eat there without eating an actual meal. lol I like the food way too much. ;)

That said, I wouldn't imagine it's an issue, I mean you go to other restaurants just for dessert without issue. :) Enjoy!

My mother and I had dessert and coffee there a LONG, LONG time ago, but nobody gave us any trouble.

On our last trip we had lunch there one day and then 2 days later we went for dessert only. On the day we ate lunch we couldn't fit dessert in so we had it at our next sitting. The day we went for dessert only they gave us bread rolls even though we said we only wanted dessert. The rolls are one of the reasons we go to BB, so we were happy. Rolls, dessert and drink, the perfect meal. :rotfl2:
