I have only eaten at Boma's for breakfast but since we are staying AKL this trip have booked a lunch at Sanaa and a dinner at Boma, I am not too worried about Bomas for dinner since it is a buffet but I am a little worried about our lunch at Sanaa now----what does curry taste like???

DH is a very plain eater no sauces he does not even put dressing on salad, DS(40) has said he loves curry chicken and not sure about Ddil except she does not like spicey but I am thinking she means as in "hot"

I wonder now if I should rethink those ressies?

Asking what curry tastes like, is like asking what soup tastes like? There are many different types of curry each with its own unique style and flavour. The waitstaff at Sanna are very helpful, I would talk to them if you are unsure:)

I personally haven't been there, but my friend has gone there a couple times now and really likes it.

The meats are rubbed with cinnamon, I hated this. Usually I can eat any type of beef or chicken, but when it tastes like a Christmas dessert....yuk!

If this is what the meats are like - I am certain that none of us will like it. :(

After reading many threads of this type and experiencing Boma myself on my last trip, I have come to the conclusion that your Boma experience is heavily dependent on your attitude when you arrive!

I'm not a really exotic food lover. However, I was so excited to be at Disney World (it was my arrival day) and so curious about this restaurant that I had an amazing time. I loved the hummus dips with the breads, the soups, the carved meat and the desserts. That was enough for a meal. Then, I sampled the side items, and if I didn't like something, I didn't eat any more of it. There were several items I really enjoyed. I'm really glad I went.

If I had gone to Boma thinking, I probably won't like this place because I'm not an adventurous eater, I feel sure I would not have liked it! So, if you can have the right attitude, go. If you cannot, don't go. That's my 2 cents!

I have to disagree in my case. I am willing to try anything (for the most part) and even take it as far as to make it myself and "improve" the recipe. I enjoy cooking and am always looking for new ideas. However, if I don't like the taste of something, I don't like it. Example: I tried several times to like chutney, but I just couldn't. I had the frame-of-mind that it was going to be good and it would become a new favorite, but it wasn't. :( As a matter of fact, it gets my gag reflexes going.

We've eaten at Boma 3xs, 1 breakfast and 2 dinners.
Sanaa dinner 2xs.

It all depends on whether you're willing to have an open mind about different
tastes. The food is really not way out of the ordinary. Meat, potatoes, salad
rice, dessert with slightly different seasonings/spices. Some people can't
stand trying out spices other than what they're familiar with. Only you
know yourself.

I've enjoyed meals at both restaurants. I have noticed the traditional
macaroni and cheese, chicken strips on one corner at Boma.

My 11 year old is really picky. And he LOVES Boma. We are going back to DW in January and will be there on his 12th birthday and that's what he requested for his birthday dinner.

I say no.
We love Asian and Indian food and thought Boma was pretty good but too sweet. Like MickeyNikki said the flavors tend toward sweet spices and they are very distinct. My mother dislikes Indian food and she hated Boma and hasn't tried Sanna. According to your original post you don't like Indian, Asian, or curry flavored food. Sure, you can find one or two things that you may like but why spend that kind of money when Disney has so many other options where you could find a whole array of things you like?

I am here to say that I absolute cannot stand the aroma of Indian curries. They turn my stomach. My friends can eat it at the same table as me, but I cannot abide it myself.

That being said, I found a wonderful dish at Sanaa. It did say "in a light curry broth", but it was not what I consider curry at all. It was the sustainable fish with veggies. The fish was arctic char, a mild and flaky white fish that was wonderful. It had some shrimp and scallops in addition, really plussing it up.

If I hadn't gotten this, I would have gotten a tandoori chicken, which is mild, too. I think there are foods at Sanaa that are great for non-Indian food types.

As for Boma, I love it there. I didn't find the foods overly spiced, but then again, they do rotate dishes every three nights. I go there mainly for the soups. I love soups and think their soups are fantastic.

Boma has to be one of my favorite restaurants at WDW. There is really something there for everyone!

I really enjoyed Boma.

But if you really have a list of many "don't likes" (Asian, Indian, Morroccan, different), you might want to try someplace else.

If you are willing to take a chance, go for it! I hope you enjoy Boma as much as I did.
