Would a Postage Stamp Offend you?

as previously said a stamp is a stamp i really could not get my knickers in a trwist by whats on it - half the time i probably wouldn't notice any how!

I wanted to add, I seldom notice stamps on mail I receive and wouldn't be offended by religious stamps on that, unless it was combined with a proselytizing message from someone who knows our little family isn't entirely of the Christian faith.

A stamp is a stamp, and if I were in dire need of one, it wouldn't matter what was on it. However, since so many options are available... I prefer something with a different message, thanks.

honestly.....go somewhere else and buy stamps, you know?? just don't buy them if you don't like them. it's not really that hard.

You just can't win in customer service. At RiteAid we always had the non-religious ones, with Santa or reindeers or whatever. I would get comments about *not* having the Mary and Jesus ones, taking Christ out of Christmas and all that. And this was Seattle, hardly the Bible belt. Cashiering sucks.

Bingo! No matter how many varieties of anything, whether stamps, TVs, radios, clothes, food, etc...You are never going to have enough of anything to please everyone! You can't really win in retail.;) Some people just need to get a life.

OMG...
Some people really don't have a life or too much time or whatever to make such problems out of stamps. It's something I will never understand.

So, what about Disney-stamps if the person you're sending to likes Universal? Or what about stamps with cats if the receiver hates cats and likes dogs?
That's just as much BS as the other discussion.

JMO of course, and flame suit is on!

I can see how a non Christian might object to a stamp with Mary and Jesus. Millions of people have died and continue to die over their religious preferences , very few die over their conflicts between Universal - Disney rivalry.

But personally, I could care less.

The African American asked me to "give her another set of stamps" so I asked the Cashier behind me, if she had any "non Christmas stamps" she did, and they were the "American Flag." I told the AA Customer, "I hope these aren't "too white" for you." She snatched them out of my hand, and away she went. :rolleyes1

You are kidding, right? :sad2:

To me, its a stamp. It gets the envelope from point A to point B. I really don't care what's on it.
However, I'm not quite sure "love" stamps on are good on bills. I really think the post office should come out with stamp that looks like this: :sad2: for bill paying. Or if there is no money in the account and you are hoping your paycheck beats the bill, you can use this smilie: :joker: . Maybe it can be secret code to the mailman to lose the letter at the bottom of the mailbag or something!

Wow! I need a vacation. :teeth:

Now that's what I call a good idea! :lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2:

It sounds like you were just as bad as your customer.:guilty:

I think stores should just carry plain stamps. People who are looking for a certain type of stamp should just head over to the post office.

I'll put the flame suit on also, because it's rediculous!

if things like that upset people, i afraid to see how they handle
REAL problems in their life

lighten up, life is too short to get upset over things like that!

I think this kind of problem that seems so ridiculous and so inocuous is a really good example of how differences of beliefs and culture drive us apart.

I think 10 years ago I would have sympathized with non-Christians about this - I still am a huge believer in separation of church and state and don't think there should be religious symbols or displays in public buildings, prayer in school, etc.

But I think that when I hear non-Christians not even be able to bear the sight of my religion, I think I start to lose sympathy for them. So it's a vicious cycle. Now, in a way, I start to care a little less about the situation.

A stamp, :confused3 I never pay attention to the stamp I buy. I think if you are the kind of person that freaks out at a Christmans stamp, this has less about conviction and more about anger you have against Christians.

The only think I can think of to liken it to is a George Bush stamp - I wouldn't buy one to save my life. Because I really despise him. I'd never ever want people thinking I was a Bush supporter. There are lots of other stamps I buy that don't define me but :confused3 it's a stamp, whatever.

So I'm assuming that a nonChristian feels this same extreme hatred for Christianity to be disgusted by a postage stamp! This hatred of me and my religion doesn't inspire my sympathy, and so it goes on. Cultures divide!

I usually buy mine at the grocery store and I take whatever they have. I'm not concerned if they have flags on them, religious symbols, or Elvis Presley for that matter. As long as it gets my bills and cards to where they're supposed to, it's fine with me.

I can't see getting all offended about a postage stamp. There are far worse things to worry about. :confused3

So let me get this straight. It's ok for you to hate a Bush & not want to use a Bush stamp, but it's not OK for a non religious person (who does not hate Christians-please! )to not want to put an imaginary folk hero (Jesus) on their mail? :confused3

:rotfl:

I was disappointed with this year's holiday stamps. You get either Mary and Jesus or snowflakes. I'd have liked something in between. I got a book of each, the Mary & Jesus for my Christian friends and the snowflakes for everyone else.

You know, I have been thinking about it... Maybe we care less about it, because we kind of have "religious" signs everywhere in public life. Huge 1000 year old churches, little chapples everywhere on the countryside, museums full of religious paintings and sculptures, ...
I also think that here, the Christians (sometimes) see it as a "religious" thing, while about everyone sees it as part of general culture.

Where I live and work, I am surrounded by moslim people. I have yet to hear one of them complain about the Christmas stamps with Mary and Jesus on them.

I swear people just want to get all upset over nothing - read what I said.

I said that I don't want a Bush stamp and I can only assume that a nonChristian wouldn't want a Christian stamp for the same reason - real hatred. I didn't say that either were "OK", just trying to understand the emotion.

Like, if you refuse to use a Christian stamp -- just admit it -- you feel revulsion for Christians.

I'm trying to reason this out -- save your  . Just curious - why did you have to react so nastily?

.

I refuse to use the Religious stamp every year.I no longer practice the religion I was born into. Doesn't mean I hate Christians, by a long shot.

So your theory that people who refuse to use religious stamps must hate Christians is poppycock, IMO.

But this is what makes me :furious: .....the person simply asked for another stamp because she was Jewish. She did't even come close to insinuating she couldn't bear the sight , she didn't even ask for a "Jewish stamp" she simply did not one glorifying a religion that was not her own. She did not threaten to call ACLU or boucott Publix until non Christian stamps came in.

Publix is a business and should sell what ever stamps in the short and long term that are profitable. But it is not time to get Bill O'Reilly involved. He is too busy taking credit for Fox taking the OJ interview off of Fox, and explaining why Fox News isn't associated with Fox network. But I digress.

Happy Holidays everyone! Well, almost everyone. :rotfl:
