Would a baby moniter work across the hall if someone was to get 1 veranda and 1 inside cabin? A freind wants to book DCL, like us, they prefer the space of two rooms, but if they wanted to put the baby down in the inside cabin, and stay up the their older kids in the veranda cabin, would it work?? (They would not leave the child alone all night, just for a bit, and for naps)

ANd I suppose I would like to know if baby moniters would work in connecting cabins, or will I hear our son if we keep our side open?

Thanks

My wife and I did a carnival for 7 days with our 18 month old. My inlaws went with us and they had an ajoining cabin and we used a video monitor it worked fine. We have also used 2 way radios on the ships they work to a point but even with a 2 mile radius you get interference but the monitoirs if close will work

Most of them work on the same frequences as cordless phones, so they should work. They don't penetrate much steel, but should make it through a few metal walls nearby. Another option would be to get 2 way radios with voice activation and crank up the voice activation sensitivity on the one in the baby's room.

We had a Fisher Price baby monitor when we last sailed in cabin 5630 (just in from of navigator's veranhda rooms). For fun, I tried to see if the monitor would reach to the Buena Vista Theatre and the answer was "almost" (you could hear through the monitor but there was lots of static).

So for a cabin just accross the hall, a baby monitor will work just fine (and can be cheaper and more reliable than trying to "rig" 2 way radios).

We used one between two rooms (next to each other) that did not have a connnecting door, and it worked fine.
