Worth the $75 off to stay at CBR?

Isn't the chance to get free dining at a particular resort completely independent of whether you already have a reservation there?

Try and see if they will move you for no additional cost. Then when free dining comes out try to switch back to cbr. If you get it you will still get the gc.

Exact reason I'll look at staying there in the fall, if we make another Thanksgiving trip. We jumped at a chance to stay at a nearly empty WL and it was awesome. We would return to CBR for the same reasons.

But will they be giving the deal to rooms booked after it was announced? Those booked prior didn't know about the construction. You will. I could see them taking the "this construction was already announced when you booked, and you chose to book knowing it was going on" line.

The OP said they have no problem driving to another resort to eat. I'm not sure how fond of the mystery offerings I would be. I'd much rather stay at a fully functioning resort, even if it cost a bit more.

ESPECIALLY if there are any food issues in your group.

Several people have already reported booking since construction was announced because of the $75 gift card. Everyone is getting it.

As long as you were booked before they announced the construction, they are offering moves to other resorts at no cost and saying you can add free dining if it comes out without having to rebook at full price. I was just moved to a 2 bedroom at SSR and told I could get free dining if it comes out.

No clue. It wasn't in my mind when I said I'd stay there either. I wouldn't expect any of xtra discount

It would not be for me, but you know your comfort level. If you won't mind the disruptions the discount is a good one.

My disney travel agent said I don't qualify for the gift card for my stay in December since the construction on the food courts is supposed to be done by August. You may want to call to see if the gift cards even apply during that time.

Your agent is wrong. Many people on the boards going through the end of the year (myself included) have received email confirmation of the gift card for our dates.

Thank you for that. I'll call Disney myself and see what I can do and why I haven't been notified.

I called and talked to a CM, I was hoping that the $75 daily discount could be applied to the MYW package, making it cheaper to stay there , but no it cant be ): , because the MYW package must be paid for in advance, and the gift cards are given when you get there. The only time we can go( fall) has been traditionally when they offer free dining, which can be added after we book. But with free dining, $75 per day is a lot to spend on souvenirs and stuff, makes me sad I cant apply it to our room ): OH well was hoping to figure out a way to do Disney cheaper with our dollar being so bad.

Just save the gift cards for another trip to Disney.

For $1300 I would stay at CBR and use that savings for maybe a special tour or extra park days (depending on what you already have planned). If it was a $300 difference i would opt for WL.

I think it seems like a good deal for my situation?? We're just looking for a room for one night before we check into our off-site condo for the week. Planned on hanging out by the pool, going for a nice dinner, then headed to the condo the next day.
Booking a standard room is $250, standard room at an All-Star is $70 less. It's sort of a wash, as we could use that $75 GC at the parks later in the week.

I'm looking at it as we're getting a nicer resort for $5, lol.

I booked for Nov. and got an email about receiving the $75 gift card.

I'm really confused. I called because we're looking at checking in the 29th of april and leaving the 3rd of may. on the phone, the cm said we'd get the $75 credit for every night of our stay, not just the may nights. If that's true, it's $300 and might be worth it. If that's not true, the $150 isn't worth it to me. Not sure what to think on that. Anyone in a similar boat, where your dates straddle april and may?

You still have tips. I'd venture to guess you can use up the $75 a day over tips and various souvenirs. It's easy to apply the gift card right back to the room charges.

We're in the same boat with you and we're staying put. We aren't "roomies" at all and basically just sleep in the room. I may be the minority, but after staying in Animal Kingdom Lodge, I feel all the rooms are just rooms with different bed spreads unless you pay for the suites or something. I'd much rather stay in a cheaper hotel and have money to spend elsewhere. I guess if you were going to spend a lot of time at the hotel it might make a difference, but we squeeze every hour out of the parks that we can.

I think Disney will take care of us and like a PP said, they hide construction well. I'm thinking it might be kind of nice if the construction keeps scaring folks away! I'm looking forward to having the Coke FreeStyle machines throughout the resort, too, instead of having only the one refill spot as an option.

You can use gift cards to tip? I didn't know that!
