We are booked for six nights (Sunday thru Friday night) at RPR in mid-June. I was able to reserve a Savvy Traveler rate so Sun-Thurs is $370.60/nt. We plan on going to the parks on Friday, but Saturday we will wake up, pack, eat breakfast, and leave for the airport (so no parks Saturday, we won't need EP for that day).

Is it worth it to switch our last night from RPR at $399.50/nt (Friday nights are more expensive) to Sapphire Falls for an AP rate of $235.43/nt? It would save us $164 plus tax for the one night, provided our RPR rate did not increase when modifying our current reservation from 6 nights to 5 nights.

I just don't know if it would be worth it to pack everything up, roll luggage over to Sapphire Falls, and check in there later on Friday for one night to save $164. It's myself, DH, and two kids (ages 8 & 6). It would also just cut into our time on vacation.

Unless I was on an extremely tight budget and truly needed that money, I would not fool with it for that amt. I actually booked a split stay for my upcoming May trip and decided not to do it. Moving will either take time away from your last park day, or you will be miserably tired at the end of the night and then have to switch hotels.

Ive done this exact thing. It was an easy walk for us over to Sapphire from RPR. You walk thru convention center. We also enjoyed seeing a new resort. I would make sure your Savvy Traveler rate doesn’t change though.

First, as mentioned above, you should check to see if leaving RPR a day early has an effect on your nightly rate. It is very possible it could.

Another option that we tend to use is to get an airport hotel for the last night (assuming your flying out the next day). We use points to stay at the airport Hyatt. It works very nicely. You can check-out at RPR by normal check-out time and leave your bags with the concierge. Then stay at the parks for as long as you want. When you are ready, get your bags and head over to the airport. The Orlando airport is a very nice airport with a number of shops and restaurants. And my daughter and I have will usually get a foot massage (assumes those are back again) to help with our sore feet. :) It makes the next morning a lot more relaxed as we don't have to hurry to get to the airport as we are already there.

Of course if your driving home, then forget all the above. ;) But if you are thinking of changing hotels to save money, I'd look at moving to either of the Endless Summer hotels (you might be able to get a suite room there for cheaper than the SFR room.) Or Cabana Bay if you want a nicer pool to use. If you don't have a car, you can use Uber or a similar service to get your bags over to the hotel.

I'm with heartpumper. The resorts are very close together. You are arriving Sunday, it's not like you only have 2 or 3 park days? With the EP you will get a lot done, even if you go swimming every afternoon. As you are leaving Sat, you would be mostly packed already. Savvy traveler rate should be good still for 5 nights.

I don’t think I’d bother. But arriving since I’m on the west coast and flights don’t arrive until 6:00pm earliest landing, so don’t get to Universal till 7:30pm ish, I have booked CB for the night then moved to HR the next morning. But haven’t done it leaving lol.

Easy peasy to do that swap. My preference is RPR and CBBR splits because I love EP and my kids love pools. The garden path makes for an easy switch between RPR and SF, and luggage services is great about storing your things (you can store at either of the hotels, so you control when you want to move it over).
Admittedly, my budget is smaller than yours, but to me >$150 in savings is worth the 20 minutes of hassle it takes to move and would buy a really nice meal or something.

UPDATE: Not sure if anyone cares, but the system wouldn't even let me modify a night off of the end of the reservation and keep the same savvy traveler rate. It would only allow me to revert to seasonal rate by reducing a night at the end (and that would be absolutely crazypants to go from $370.60/nt to $500 and $600 a night)

We are staying at RPR the entire time, and we are more than okay with that since I wasn't even sure it would be worth the trouble. We might walk over to Sapphire Falls and check out their pool at some point since we will be there 6 nights and my girls love a pool slide!

Thank you for all the feedback, however!
