We are going to Disney in about 3 weeks. Have 2 rooms at the WL w/courtyard view. There are 3 adults and 4 childred. Wondering if it is worth the extra $700 to upgrade to a villa? We won't be cooking but thought maybe the extra room and laundry would be nice. Never stayed at a villa so I would like some advice from those that had. I am looking at the WL 2 bedroom villas. There are some still available so I need to make up my mind.

You'll have a full kitchen and a washer and dryer in your villa. If it is dedicated, you'll have one king bed, two queen beds and one queen sleeper sofa. If it is a lock off, you'll have one king bed, one queen bed, one queen sleeper sofa and one double sleeper sofa.

Now the adults will just have to fight over who gets the master bedroom and the king sized bed.

We stayed in a 2-bedroom for the first time at the BWV last month. I can assure you, after having experienced all that space, you'll wonder how you can ever go back to a regular hotel room!

I certainly didn't cook, but it was nice to be able to have cereal, bagels, pop, etc. on hand without living out of a cooler. The washer and dryer ran every day for a week. We were able to pack light knowing that we could do laundry everyday. The extra space is nice too for when people want to gather, and if someone needs some "alone" time, they can simply go to their room. Sounds like punishment, doesn't it?!

So yes, I think it's worth it for $700 but it really depends on how tight your budget is to begin with.

This is the only reason you might want to hesitate.

We used to be a Value resort family, we were fully happy in an All Star Resort, until that is this past summer.

We decided to stay a few nights at AKV in a studio. Now the values are ruined to us! :sad1:

I could not imagine going back to a normal hotel room after staying in a beautiful villa.

Just a little food for thought.

we have stayed in the boardwalk villa's and agree that just the ease of being able to have the kitchen for snacks and morning breakfast is well worth it. the laundry right in the room is also great. i washed while there at night before bed and threw them in the dryer when we went to the park in the morning. also had all clean clothes in the suitcase when we got hom except what we had on. it was great. definatly worth the extra money in my opinion.

also a small side note. we stayed at the boardwalk in april and have always been a deluxe snobs. but with that said i took my mom in december for a girls week and we stayed at the all star music and was just as pleased. it was great for a cheap get away. i couldn't take my family in a room that size but i was great for 2 adults.

We've done over 10 stays in the regular Lodge and this past September trip, were offered a studioat the WLV's. I'm having mixed feeling between the two, though both are great, they each have their own quirks.

Villas:, quite far from the Roaring Fork food court for mug refills and quick meals. We used the villa pool mostly since it was right out our door, rather quiet and did the job, but we did like the afternoon games and music at the regular pool, just too far to walk with our cooler. Miss the newspaper at our door each morning. We also found us using the buses more, boat dock was all the way across the resort.

Room itself was great, liked the sofa sleeper, folded up it gave us alot of room and a blessing sitting on instead of a bed every day. The larger fridge helped alot and we used the microwave on occasion for reheats and popcorn.

I guess to sum it all up, we got the villa room cheaper than a standard room and experienced something different but I think we'd prefer the regular Lodge, courtyard, with the pool balcony better; still sitting on the fence on this but the villa is very unique and very quiet, hummmmmm.

the main reason you are considering the villa is the washer/dryer in the room. I would not pay $700.00 more if that is your main reason. It will cost you considerably less to just use quarters in the laundromat that I assume the WL has somewhere on the property. You could run a load or 2 while enjoying the pool, if you felt the need. And I think that with 2 rooms, you would have plenty of space. But, if you are planning on spending a lot of time in the room itself, it may be worth it. I tend to spend very little time in the room while at WDW... there are too many other fun things to do. If I want a vacation to relax in a beautiful room, I would go somewhere else!! But, that's just me.

If you are the type to get up and go and commando the parks until closing time, it doesn't matter where you stay. But if you enjoy your resort, like to rest in your "room", take some breaks, watch a little TV, a villa is a great place to do that.

Absolutely positively yes. The extra space alone is worth it. The villas at the WL are nice, very quiet. Having the kitchen is also great even if you don't cook anything for a quick breakfast, your own cofee and full refrigerator. Have Garden Grocer's deliver the basics.

Like the PP said you will never stay in a regular room again.

We always stay at the villas, because we are dvc members. We have decided that it really doesnt matter what kind of room we have. We are there to be in disney, and other than sleeping how much time do you really spend in the room??? Yes it is nice to have the laundry and the kitchen. I do agree, but for $700 do you really need them. Think of what an extra $700 could do on your vacation. You could eat breakfast in the parks every day, and still probebly have $$ left over. That is just my opinion. We stayed at the wl villas in september, and decided it was just a room...nothing that special.

You have to decide whether the W/D, Kitchen and extra space are worth the extra $700.00 to you provided it fits into your budge. Break it down per night to see if it is justified.

I have to tell you that we are staying in a 1 bdrm villa at BLT this July and I am super stoked that I will be able to pack a lot lighter.:woohoo: I am an over packer. To be able to do laundry every evening when we return is priceless to me. Also having the kitchen with 2 teenage boys is another plus. Now, I am not one to cook or do laundry on vacation but staying there for 10 days and not having laundry to do when I get home is :cloud9:. For us personally the extra space, kitchen and w/d are worth it. Good luck with your decision.:flower3:
