I thought I saw a thread about this at one point. Can't seem to find it. I'm curious as to who has had this experience and how to avoid it. I mean what happens if you just say no thanks? Can you just walk away or do they follow you or something? We are staying at Bonnet Creek and are not the owners, my parents are. i thought I saw something about how they wouldn't give you your parking pass or something until you agreed to listen to a speel. Can anyone enlighten me on this tactic and how to avoid/get around it.

I'm also interested in the more humerous side of this. Does anyone have a funny story to share?

my cousin is famous for attending every hard sell timeshare presentation she can find. She has received "free" cruises, hotel tickets, whatever they are offering.

She sits through the speech and no matter how hard the sell points to the fine print..."no obligation" and walks off with the goods. Boy do they get angry with her, rude, etc. she takes it all in stride! Tough as nails that one. I sat through once and sometimes the sale pressure is insane!

just don't get your parking pass. you don't need it. you have a ticket to your room - which means the guard has to let you in....

but fairfield generally aren't hard sell - now mind was - but I asked to see the rooms - which was stupid of me.

Westgate is one of the worst!!!

How bad is the tour at vistana villages? I am trying to decide if we want to do that one or not?

thanks!

the problem I had with Vistana Village is almost the same I have with Westgate - they won't you to do the thing for $65 or less. Westgate is way less they expect you to do it for free!!!

other places will offer around $120 to $150 to do their tour.

Westgate has the worst reputation, but we took one of their tours in March and it was one of the easiest we've ever done. It all depends on who you get, I guess.

The parking pass deal is typical, but all you've got to do is say No firmly. Some of them will try to call you later to get you to change your mind.

Are you staying at Bonnett Creek on one of those low-cost timeshare tour deals or are you staying in your parent's villa? If the latter you are under no obligation to attend a tour, period.
If the former, you are agreeing to attend a ninety minute timeshare presentation, but you are under no obligation to stay past that ninety minute period. Fairfield is under no obligation to give you any promised rewards if you don't stay for the full ninety minutes (though there are sometimes circumstances when a TS sales manager will authorize a reward early just to get on to the next potential buyer).

There's no legitimate reason for a reservation desk clerk to withhold a parking pass from a guest. Don't fool around with someone who tries to do so, ask for the manager.

Last year via a mailing we were offered a 4 night stay @ sheraton vistana for less than $100 with NO timeshare presentation requied.

Only problem was we had to deal with the head honcho (alex:eek: ; very persuasive dude:rolleyes1 ) in order to get our $100 "rebate". Suave, continental type...smoooooooth operator lol. I'm a realtor; thought i had heard it all - nope.:rotfl:

Wound up unplugging our phone after a few calls & had to return to the sales desk a couple of times; finally got him to fork over that crisp $100 bill after turning down offer of $100 in tix, yadda, yadda.
Was hoping to get the same offer this yearpopcorn:: ; yeah - when heck freezes over. Certainly was worth it, Cascade section/condo was beautiful.

yes it is at Bonnet Creek. My parents own and have rented the 4 bedroom for all of us. (9 total) They haven't metioned us having to listen to anything, but I hope not. My DH hates that stuff. If we are my parents guests do we have to go? My name is also on the reservation however. Just in case we get to Orlando before my parents they wanted me to be able to check in.

I've not stayed at THAT Fairfield resort, but I have stayed at others. Based on my experience I would be very surprised if they exerted any pressure on you at the time of check-in. They may advise you the opportunity to participate in a presentation, but my Fairfield recollection is that they are not hard sell and easily take "no" as an answer. They may, however, advise you of an owners' get together (which is usually nothing more than a repeat sales opportunity for them, but I don't know if Fairfield does that), as your parents are owners there.

From what I've heard of Bonnet Creek, you should enjoy your vacation there.

Thank you Dick Taylor for your replies. You are most helpful. There IS an owners get together, we will avoid this thank you!!
