Worst Restaurants

I know I'm going to catch a beating for this one. Boma has got to be one of the worst places I've eaten at, Disney or not. I just didn't like anything there.

Hollywood and Vine (never again!!)

Crystal Palace for dinner. The breakfast was great...but dinner was awful!!!

5 years ago I would have told you Tony's was the best place there. Now I agree that it is one of the worst. I wish Disney, and visitors, would read these boards and see how many people do not have good things to say, based on service and food.

There are certain restaurants that we MUST eat at while we are at Disney. Those two are Tony's and LeCellier. We absolutely love  Tony's. We have eaten there every year since 1999. Yes, I agree, it is a bit pricey. We have NEVER had bad food or bad service there. I think the lunch menu has a wider selection than the dinner, and it is not quite as expensive. The panini sandwich is wonderful. :Pinkbounc

Very few times have we eaten somewhere at Disney and not liked it. Alfredo's in Italy is probably the main one. The first time we ate there we really liked it, but the second time was not up to par with the first. Back in 1991 on our honeymoon we went to a restaurant on Pleasure Island called the Fireworks Factory. The cast member at the front desk of the Disney Inn had asked if we had good bar-b-que in TN and we told him that ours was some of the best around. He advised us not to go to the Firework's Factory, but being young and naive :rolleyes1 we did not listen!! It was worse than horrible!! :scared1: I'm glad we have learned to listen to cast members now!! :goodvibes When we went back to Disney in 1993, the Fireworks Factory had closed! Wonder why????? :confused3

Other than those two, we have not had any bad experiences at any Disney restaurants.

Boma--only liked the soup and desserts. We thought the rest of the food was horrible......... :sad2:

The mexican place in Epcot....not the one inside, but the CS one outside....can't think of the name right now. YUCK!!! :crazy2:

I know other people love both these places, especially Boma. We went there in May after hearing all the rave reviews about the place. Maybe it's just us, but we thought it was bland.

We really enjoyed 9 Dragons, it was a pleasant surprize. Alfredo's was disappointing for the price, the main courses that is - the desserts were awesome. Chef Mickey's breakfast was lacking - we liked Crystal Palace much better. Overall, we have never had anything really bad - but when you are payig the prices you do there- you expect better than mediocre.

I would have to say Prime Time Cafe - I had the chicken puke pie and was sick for 3 days afterwards.

Other than that I have had only good experiences with sit down restaurants and one so/so lunch at the Columbia Harbour House.

Beaches and Cream. It was horrible. This is the closest we have ever come to walking away from a restaurant.
Boma - didnt enjoy it at all - indifferent food.

The Coral Reef.

My meal there was so bad they didn't even charge me for it. And I didn't complain! If it's so bad they take off for it without you saying a word that's a pretty good indication that things are not good.

Wow Quinn, what did you order at the Coral Reef that was so bad? :confused3

On this last trip, I would have to say the worst for us was Capt.Cook's at the Poly and Pecos Bill's at MK. Pecos Bill's is usually pretty good, but this time it was just plain yucky.

Cosmic Ray's for me. My husband and I had the most disgusting burgers on the planet there. They were gray in color and tasteless and also the place was a mess. :crazy2:

Definitely Cosmic Rays as well for us. I had the turkey wrap and it was horrid. My DH, DS and DD weren't thrilled with their food either. The place was dirty and the tables were too small. I will never eat there again.

We just had a pretty poor meal at Spoodles on the BW three weeks ago--most of the food was mediocre, the chicken was very, very dry, and our dd's veggies were hard (not much worse than hard peas...). Wouldn't recommend it.

Bad experiences vs. bad food are two different things...We have had bad experiences at some of our favorite resturants, and good experiences at some of our "worst" resturants.

It is a shame...Some of my favorite childhood memories at WDW are having breakfast there. I sure wish they would bring back breakfast at Tony's.

I agree with the breakfast comment. We used to take our 3 oldest kids to Tonys for breakfast the first morning of each trip. Our youngest has never experienced it. What a shame. Although I found the breakfast to be a bit over priced, it was worth the atmosphere. We found the breakfast food to be satisfactory. We still have the sovenier kids menus from those days. Truly nice memories. I vote for bringing back the breakfast at Tonys. Does anyone know why they stopped it? We asked a CM once and was told they stopped it after 9/11 for security reasons. ...??? Sounds odd to us. Anyone know if this is true?

I would have to say San Angel Inn......we were less than impressed on our recent trip.

We went this past Christmas, of course we were there at a busy time and I imagine the restaurants had to serve hundreds, if not thousands of meals per day. We went to Disney with an idea that we will have to wait and have patience. Waiters/waitresses will be tired and exhausted, and we will be tired and exhausted, that's all part of the holiday season. Going in to the restaurants with this mentality prepared us well. We ate at several places: Boma :thumbsup2, Fountainview Cafe, Tempura Kiku, Restaurant Marrakesh, Artist Palette (we stayed at SSR), Crepes des Chefs de France, San Angel counter service, Earl of Sandwich :), and Wetzel's Pretzels to name a few. Loved them!

However, answering the question, we hated Tomorrowland Terrace Noodle Station in MK. The food was disgusting and definitely not Asian!

We enjoyed Hollywood & Vine's Fantasmic package. Unfortunately, we were seated next to a big group- two families who were friends. I read how some people do not enjoy buffets because of undisciplined children. I am sorry to say that this dinner was an example. The two boys (around 8 and 10) got sundaes from the sundae bar and started playing with the ice cream at their table. They knocked over the bowls of ice cream on the carpet, stamped their feet into it, threw silverware, etc. I could tell ALL the waiters were counting down until the family left (they must have been there at least 1.5-2 hr).

I will admit that I am 16, and I do have a low patience level for younger kids (most teens do ). But I will also say that we have NEVER had problems with buffets before and we are a well traveled family who eat at buffets and restaurants quite often. What I'm trying to say is the "worst restaurant" could be delcared "worst" because of other diners. I know that parents are tired and want to relax at meals. I also understand that kids are tired and cranky. However, part of having kids is making sure that they don't disrupt the other diners and don't terrorize the waiter (as in running around and crashing into the them while they're carrying trays, dumping bowls of ice cream on the carpet, throwing silverware, etc).

Other than that, we loved the food, the waiter, and the atmosphere at Hollywood and Vine, and we had a great rest of our holiday trip! Just cross your fingers and pray that you have nice fellow diners! Thanks for reading my personal opinion.

i have never eaten at 9 Dragons, but i've been afraid to try it ever since a friend who worked as a chef there told me they put loads of MSG in EVERYTHING :crazy2: i've also heard bad things about the food at Sci-Fi, but we're going to try it next trip anyway, cos i love bad b-horror/sci fi movies (the poster for one of my favorite films, Teenagers from Outer Space, is in the lobby of the restaurant!) and the milkshakes on the menu just sound soooo good....we're taking a chance!
i honestly can't say that there's any restaurant at WDW that i've tried and flat-out 100% despised, but the one i'm least fond of is Electric Umbrella. mainly becos the regular old "burgers n fries" is SO mediocre & unappealing in comparison to the CS you could get just a few minutes away at WS!

See I went and did the 9 Dragons Lunch Buffet a few years ago and thought it was FABULOUS. Best sweet and sour chicken I ever had.

The Plaza (MK) - Incredibly loud, long waits during non-peak times, were incredibly rushed, bad service & the food was terrible...(when my DD won't eat a grilled cheese, it has to be pretty bad).

Hollywood & Vine (MGM)- This used to be a must-do for us, but our last 2 visits were terrible. The food quality decreases every time we go there. The desserts are just plain bad, there service is incredibly spotty and on our last visit there, the family next to us totally ignored their 3 rowdy boys, one of which was licking the table (not the restaurant's fault, but it was gross).

Cantina de San Angel (EP/WS) - The food is fine, but I know more than enough people who have gotten dreadfully ill from the food here (I was one of them). After that experience, I will never return. :crazy2:

Rainforest Cafe - We have a Rainforest about 10 minutes from my home & the food there is so bad, I refuse to risk it at WDW.
