Worst restaurants in WDW?

Another family who didn't like Chef Mickey's. Nearly identical experience to sha_lyn's (on the first page) except we were in the booth right at the bottom of the stairs she mentioned. Lousy food, lousy service, nearly non-existent character interaction. (The table next to us had multiple visits from each during the same time period. DH thought he was going to have to trip one of the to get them to stop to see DD! )

Oh & I almost forgot - we had to wait nearly an hour for our PS & they never took our picture! It was VERY busy when we got there & they asked us to come back after we ate. We saw they were getting ready to clear out just before we were seated, so we tried to go over then, but were told "too bad, too late!"

Never again!

Oh - and the Backyard BBQ was definitely NOT worth the $$ to anyone in our group. The food wasn't bad, but not good either & it was a "madhouse!"

I know I will get flamed for this but mine is O'Hana. I found the meat to be too smoky tasing and dry. The atmosphere was great though so maybe I'll give it another try.

Ours would have to Akershus in Norway.

I had heard such rave reviews about the place, and we make it a point to try a few new restaurants each trip...so I made this one a priority to try. uuuggghhhh.....defiinitely not the best meal. It just did not appeal to us. Maybe some love it, but it just was not for us.
BUT I would like to add that I do NOT regret trying. I love trying all different restauratns and different cuisines, so it was inevitable that I would try it. But for me, it did not live up to all the hype. There has never been a restuarant at WDW that I have regretted trying.

My vote is for WCC! We will never eat there again. Service was good, but the food was just not out cup of tea.

I'm shocked to read at how many people don't like Chef Mickey's.

We have eaten there just about every trip for the last 5 times and never had a bad experience.

We always get one of the first PS's in the morning - I wonder if that's the difference (although certainly not an excuse)? The kids haven't tainted the food yet and made a mess? We always have great service and the characters spent as much time as it took to get pictures, interact with the kids, etc.

I would certainly be turned off too if I had experienced what some of you are describing.

Just a thought.

Welcome to the DIS Boards, tatajess!!

As you can see, what some people choose as the very worst WDW restaurant is the very same restaurant that someone else will choose as their favorite! I don't think there is a restaurant at WDW that doesn't show up on someone's least-favorite list. On the other hand, I don't think there's a restaurant at WDW that doesn't show up on someone's favorite list. So how do you choose where to eat? I suggest that you read the reviews, keeping in mind that one person's experience may be totally different than yours. Choose the restaurants that sound appealing to you, based on the overall description in the reviews, not just on one person's opinion. Then, go and decide for yourself. My experience has been that sometimes I've been disappointed in what seemed to be a lot of people's favorite (i.e. Ohana) but I've also been pleased with a restaurant that shows up often on least-favorite lists (i.e. Sci Fi).

Well our least favorite restaurant was O'hanna's we had Thanksgiving dinner there it just wasn't for us.

Yakitori House-icky, cold, just not good

Hollywood and Vine-I just don't know what to say. It was AWFUL!! We ate there for Thanksgiving dinner in 2001. The food was cold, bland, and the buffet was not replenished frequently. The service was slow and beyond inefficient. Even the desserts were bad. I know some have good experiences here, but we won't be returning.

Cindy's-please don't flame me! The food was not very good, we were cramped, and the characters were very rushed. We much prefer PSB to Cindy's.


For what it's worth: We LOVE 'Ohana. However, Thanksgiving dinner at 'Ohana was horrid. I think that is because it is the same inedible food they serve everywhere in the world for Thanksgiving. When we return at Thanksgiving, we will be sure to pick a place where we can order off the regular menu and won't be given the preplated or buffet "holiday" offerings.

Last: Le Cellier. We showed up early for our PS, and were told it would be about 10 minutes. 40 minutes later we were being seated.

Funny we were there about half hour before they closed for lunch. There wasn't anyone in there except the hostess. She told us they were only taking those with a PS.

I SHOULD HAVE CALLED MANAGEMENT. The wife said it wasn't worth it. With their attitude it wouldn't help. I agreed and decided with their attitude I wouldn't come back.

the Coral Reef just isn't for me.

We couldn't stand the way they spiced the food; Dh and I ended up eating DD's peanut butter play-doh dessert and that was it. Never again. felt kinda 'green' the rest of the day.

Chef mickeys used to be my favorite but i have to admit some disappointment last time we were there (sept 03). Food was lukewarm (breakfast) and the characters barely interacted with my daughter.

Food at 1900 park fare dinner was FAR superior last trip. great character interaction too.

only character meal we plan on trying for for our next trip tho is the PSB. Great hot food, sweet waitstaff, and EXCELLENT princesses. We had the time of our lives. Well worth hoofing it all the way to the WSC early in the morning LOL. it's the only character meal my 8 year old is begging to go to again.

We had a great experience at Ohana but i guess it would depend who's minding the kabobs on the flames! i think my child ate her weight in pineapple and those little fried thingies on the turntable! mmmmm. definitely want to go back there.

can't say as i enjoyed CRT last time we were there. Food was cold, and the waitstaff? well lets just say it killed the atmosphere to hear a loud waitress talking through the door to the kitchen about the guy she'd picked up at a bar the night before i told the manager that wasn't very good "show" and they quieted the group down. we'll be skipping that one the next trip too.

Narcoosees...we had the same thought about the scallops. they were good but...4 of them? LOL I had to give DH half of my steak to keep him happy.

the only time i ever got sick after eating anywhere at WDW was YEEEEARS ago; i got sick from a salad I ate at a sit-down restaurant at epcot. to this day, i don't eat salad in WDW.

Boma's has to be my least favorite. The service was not up to Disney standards when we were there and the food was quite unusual for my taste. The atmosphere is nice though.

We got semi good/bad service at Cinderella's Royal Table. The waiter was rather rude. He didnt' actually say or do anything that I could point out as rude but it was more what he didn't say or do that made him seem rude.

Chef Mickey's is one of our faves...of course we've always gone in the early morning so that might make a difference. This time around, we are scheduled for dinner at Chef Mickey's so I'll let ya'll know what kind of service we get. (however, we are doing an early dinner so that might make a difference too)

Our least fav is Alfredos. My DH say pasta in a box (think rice a roni) is better.

I don't think that we've had what would qualify as a truly bad meal at WDW, but we've had several that were less than satisfactory given the mediocre quality of the food -vs- the exorbitant prices. And those would be-

May I have the envelope please-

1) San Angel Inn. The first time in the late '80's was pure magic, and it has gone steadily downhill since then. Chi-Chi's with a volcano.

2) Jiko. The staff were arrogant, and the red-wine reduction sauce with the Mac & Cheese Filet gave everybody at our table intense heartburn.

3) Alfredos. Nothing special. Far better fare is to be found at any Italian restaurant in Metro Detroit.

4) CRT. Flavorless Prime Rib, ridiculously small portions.

5)Nine Dragons. Mediocre, run-of-the-mill Chinese. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

And that's about it. On the other hand, we've never been disappointed at Artists Point, Fultons, The Brown Derby, Ohana, or Le Cellier, as have many other people we've met in person and on these boards. Go figure!

Sci-Fi. Just not what I expected and the food wasn't that great. I felt really cramped in the backseat of the car. Just not happy with it.
i was also disappointed with Tony's at the Magic Kingdom. I found the food to be of poor quality.

we had the same experience too bad as it was phenominal before it tried to appeal to the taco bell masses ( course at the time we were with a family that complained cause it was nothing like that well known authentic Mexican establishment "taco bell" ! so to each their own but guess they won in the end)

Sci-Fi Dine-In Hamburger & fries. I love the atmosphere of the place but twice now after eating their hamburger & fries (w/mayo - could be the mayo) I've felt sick afterwards. On two separate visits with a year inbetween. Could be an odd coincidence that both visits were on sunny, hottish days but...
Also in their defence - I don't ask for them to be cooked to well-done - that might of been it, too.

Maybe I should just go for a glow cube drink and dessert!!! Ely

Without a doubt, our least favorite has to be the 50's Prime Time Cafe @ MGM. We were there for lunch in Oct 2002. It had been a long morning, and our group of seven was hungry and not in a great mood. Then, after waiting for a bit, the nagging waitress severed the last nerve we had. We really didn't want to be entertained, we wanted to eat. The service was slow, and our food wasn't very good.

Maybe it was half our fault for going in there with the mood we were in, but we won't be going back.

OTOH, I have enjoyed just about every other place we have eaten.
