I can't do a search right now, but am wondering what the absolute WORST view/location is you can get at the Poly. We have 2 rooms and can only get the garden view because the lagoon and concierge are not available during our timeframe (March 31-Apr3). I don't know what buildings are being rehab- ed then. I now wonder what's the worst we can get? Knowing this, anything better than that will thrill us when we get there! :cheer2:

I wouldn't want to be in the theird floor of the Aotearoa building facing the monorail. I know some love it, the monorail passes very close to their building. but to me it would be a complete lack of privacy.

Funny you should say that, Ducklite, because 3rd floor of Aotearoa is exactly what I have requested. I think that I would enjoy seeing the Monorail.

The Tikiman site addresses the "worst" view at the Poly. He opines that it's a parking lot view from Rapa Nui and even has a picture of the view on his web site.

LOL! We had one of those rooms in 2002! Didn't know too much about the resort before we got there. It's a long way to walk to refill those mugs. But we were close to our car and the TTC. The balcony was nice, but there weren't too many nice things to look at except some palm trees.

Believe it or not, But after scouting out the Poly (on many trips) I think the worst view's have to be on the "wrong" side of Tonga (the all suite building). [not that we've been in there]. But we have been in the Aoreortaoea building 3rd floor, monorail and you walk by this area to the parking lot, Or valet area, And they are VERY close to the unloading area of MANY trucks, and there back area is very small, has nice foliage (from what we could see), BUT the noise is a problem, and not much of a view, I could see. :p Of course I'm sure there are many GOOD things about staying in Tonga to make up for the noise / view problems. I would certainly volunteer a stay in a suite in March, to give someone else our GV room :confused3 if needed, for a free upgrade. ;) .

I don't think there are many bad Poly views, other than the parking lot views. The good news is there aren't that many of those (really only Roratonga, Rapa Nui and MAYBE Aoeterra). I've heard that even the parking lot views aren't too bad because the landscaping hides the cars. I, however, wouldn't take a chance. We always book garden and we've only gotten lovely garden views of a pool, side view of the lagoon, or the lovely landscaping. We like Tokelau a lot! Simona seems nice, never stayed there. Here's what we do: We fax a room request about 3 days prior to arrival asking for a nice view of something other than a parking lot. And, it always works. Never got a parking lot.

I know that view all to well because that's where my first room was located! :rotfl2: After one day of being so far away from the GCH and having that parking lot view, I requested a new room. The gave me a nice Rarotonga room with a patio and a view of the quiet pool. I'm either going to try for Samoa or Rarotonga again.I still would rather have a parking lot view at the Poly than have a great view at another hotel. I can't help myself, I just love the Poly! :worship:

I agree that the vast majority of gardenview rooms have lovely views.

We've often been on the opposite side of Rapa Nui from the parking lot and the views there are beautiful.

I wouldn't want the view Anne described of Aotearea either although some love it and it is often pictured.

But most views are just lovely.

The worst view has got to be Tuvalu, non-lagoon side. It faces the Fiji back stairs. Very depressing! ... also I like Aotearoa 3rd floor monorail view and even though I love my privacy I didn't find it an issue. Watching the monorail go by is a thrill!!! and the grounds are lovely there too.
