Worst PART of going on DCL

Just like I told my darling DD last week, the truth always comes out, no matter how hard you try to hide it!!!

The worst part is packing the last day and then getting off the boat. The last night is so hard for me. The last time I was on DCL I cried the last night because I knew it was going to be over. My DBF assured me it wouldn't be our last trip and he promised he would take me back there. That was the year that I went 3 times in one year. He broke up with me and I haven't been back since. :(

Now I am in Washington DC for work and my exDBF's father showed up for work also and is taking me around to see the sites!! Too bad it wasn't DCL.

The safety drill -- I dread it. Told my DH that once that was over, the rest of it was great ... but I hate the safety drill.

The worst point for me is that point on Wednesday when you realize that you are more than halfway done with the cruise. The time seems to start flying after that.

Plus, coming back from Castaway Cay knowing you are going to have to pack everything up that night for the next morning.

FYI: Double Digits time!!! WOOHOO:cool1:

The worst part has to be packing and putting our bags out in the hallway. Just thinking about it brings tears to my eyes. Gee, that week goes by too quickly.

Why is it that a week at HOME doesn't go by that fast!!!!????

At the end of our 7 night trip, our family was in the Avis van with another family, who had a DD about 5 years old with them. I understood her pain when her father asked "how aobut Burger King for lunch" and she said with pain in her voice "You mean we're not going back to the ship" That is the worst part. It's also hard to explain to others just how wonderful it is--I just tell, you have to try it yourself to see.

The last morning is the worst becasue you know that you have to leave and go home. It is hard getting back to normal life after a week of fabulous Disney service. I miss our servers. Going to dinner will never be the same.
Maybe next time I will have to go on a back to back cruise. Then maybe I will be ready to leave the ship, doubtful, but it could happen. :earsgirl:

The worst part for me is having to pay for the next cruise we book. - Mike

Probably Friday night on the 7 day is the worst. Packing up is terrible!! I heard that one of the pubs has fun times on Friday night and I hope so. I need something to get through the last night!!

I've sailed three times and I ALWAYS CRY DRIVING AWAY, LOOKING BACK AT THE SHIP, too!!:o

Last summer we rebooked onboard and that helped alot!!!

:teeth:

The first time I sailed with Disney I got on the ship thinking "Wow, this is an expensive vacation!", and I got off the ship thinking " How did they do all that for so little money!".

Next cruise, the Wonder, May 23rd!!!!! :Pinkbounc

Mike - I concur!! But I try to start small, first my change in a large jar, then as I get rebates back from products I buy or insurance overpayments or other "found" money!! If we don't eat out, I take $30.00 and put it away - etc, etc, just gotta start small and soon the numbers will add up!

The worst part is waiting til the next cruise! 364 days left!

Okay- everybody- I have not cruised DCL yet and I think it sounds great, I am very excited about my upcoming cruise- but some of you are just being overdramatic about how bad it is exiting the ship, right.
There is no way I am going to cry when it's over.
At least I hope not. My kids might think I'd gone nuts.
(Oh BTW- I better not get hooked on DCL- I can't afford it)

If you don't want to get hooked, than you better not get on the ship at all.

I think this thread is really important. It sounds like too many times people have expectations set too high from these Boards. I loved my Disney Cruise and can't wait to take my nieces and nephews in 260 days, but to me the worst part is the price. Because Disney has two ships that sail at capacity almost all of the time they can keep their prices high. I just wish they'd cut everyone a break so more ppl can enjoy the Disney magic. Just my thoughts.

Also - you may not cry when its over, nut you'll sure be depressed.

I'm sorry but this was just too cute, who are you calling a "nut"??? I know it was a typo, but it made me chuckle!!! :hyper:

I think I am the nut in this scenario- I did make a reference about going nuts in my post- :D
But fredms makes a good point about people's expectations being too high. One of the best things I have read so far in preparation for my trip was the debate board discussion titled something like "Is DCL worth the money" It was great to read all the differing opinions. I think it brought me back down to earth a little.
Don't get me wrong, I love these boards and all you DCL junkies but you are.. how can I put this... a bit biased.:p I really am slightly scared of getting hooked.
