Not sure what you mean by wooden....but if you mean he does pretty much what he wants and doesnt bend to mainstream....then I guess he is wooden...I love that about him....Dances with Wolves. JFK, Wyatt Earp.....great stuff...
And Robin Hood is by far the best....my favorite movie of all time to be exact....I dont recall any accent except maybe some english....
Field of Dreams, For love of the Game, and Bull Durham are great too....I have no problem with an actor sticking to himself and being who he wants to be....
I have to agree with JunieJay, Kevin Costner is a rather bland actor (notwithstanding the fact that I love Dances with Wolves--though it had no business beating out GoodFellas for the Best Picture Oscar back in 1990), and his inability to master a believable British accent is so renowned that it was famously skewered in Mel Brooks's comedy Robin Hood: Men in Tights:
"Prince John: And why would the people listen to you?
Robin Hood: Because, unlike some other Robin Hoods, I can speak with an English accent."
