worst experience at disney?

worst experience at disney? well it most certainly wasnt mine or disney's fault, but the absolutely horrible weather my family had in october of 2007. we went for the MNSSHP and the F&W Festival, and im not even kidding when i say this, it downpoured every day.

one of my favorite parts of the halloween parade at MK is the headless horsemen, as im sure it is for a lot of others. so there we are, soaked in our costumes on main street waiting for the parade to start..and no horsemen. the poor dog in the parade has a look on his face like "why the heck am i out here?!" and the rain just ruined the whole disney experience.

i mean not going at all would have been worse, but its hard to have a good time when your drenched in rain. only nice day of the whole vacation was, of course, a non park day where we had planned to swim and chill on the boardwalk. we got spoodles and enjoyed ourselves, but it didnt help the bad mood we were already in.

all in all, it stunk too because we didnt return home to michigan with our signature "i went to florida HA HA HA" tans. :(

When I got married, my DH had never been to WDW nor received any of the indoctrination like I had in my family (Wonderful World of Disney, Disney Golden Books, etc.). Finally I convinced him to take a trip, but a few weeks before we were scheduled to leave our house was literally destroyed in a flood! We were gone for the weekend, and the upstairs toilet tank cracked. The basement literally had standing water, the ceiling drywall on the main floor had collapsed...needless to say, we had to cancel our trip (as well as move out of our house, which took three months to restore).

Fast forward toi the following year, when I swore that nothing...and I mean NOTHING...was going to stop us from going. I forgot that God has a wicked sense of humor. Not long before our trip, I was struck down by chicken pox. Mind you, I was in my early 30s!!! Ugh!! By the time our trip arrived, I was no longer contagious but I still looked disgusting. I didn't care, I still insisted on going. As you can imagine, my photos from that trip are just lovely, with my gross, blotchy face. But I still had them install the chip in hubby's brain and he turned into a proper fellow Disney nut so it was worth it.

My mom, husband, and I went to Disney World for Christmas 2006. It was the first Christmas we had after my dad suddenly passed away in May 06 so we were looking forward to a Christmas out of our usual routine. What better place than the "Happiest Place on Earth"?

WRONG!

Our vacation started out bad...at the Detroit Metro Airport, we had the rudest TSA security guy. He made my mom take almost everything out of her carry-on and check it. We were scrambling to organize our bags. It was horrible. He kept holding things up saying, "Do you want this?" Why would you bring a suitcase of stuff you didn't really want to bring? So we got on the plane and figured our bad experience was behind us. We got into Orlando around 8 that night. We were excited about the Magical Express and how nice it would be to have our bags delivered. They said 2-3 hours. No big deal - we're not early to bed kind of people.

We got to the hotel (All Star Sports), ate, went to our room, etc. Around 11, our luggage still hadn't arrived. My mom went to the front desk to inquire. They told her it was on the property, we just had to wait for it to be delivered. Midnight...still no luggage. We went to ask if they could tell us where the luggage cart was at and WE'D go get it. They said it was still at the AIRPORT! By this time we'd been up all day, traveled, were tired, and my mom was missing virtually everything because she had to check her carry-on. She was livid. The manager told her it had to be picked up still, sent to a sorting facility, THEN delivered to the hotel, then they would eventually deliver it to our room. With enough complaining, the manager personally went to get our luggage and carried it up to our 2nd floor room. It was kind of funny when he got to our door at 3 a.m. all sweaty and out-of-breath. We'll never use the "Magical EXPRESS" again.

We also had a horrid waitress at The Crystal Palace for my mom's b-day. We had ordered a special b-day cake for her (delicious, but not very well decorated...it was even poorly frosteD!) It was noted on our meal ticket. We ate...waited for rude waitress to bring it out...she never even came back! Finally DH found her and asked when she was going to bring the cake out and all she said was, "OH, I was wondering why you were still sitting there." Um, hello - if you're wondering that - come ask!

Awwww you deserve a  for that one!! That reminds me of that episode of Friends where Phoebe is dating Charlie Sheen, who is in the navy, and he comes in for like a 2 day shore leave and she gets chicken pox. He says he doesn't care, then he ends up with it! So all they want to do is make out and they end up scratching each other cause it feels better lol! Oh yeah and Monica taped pot holders to their hands and stuff. Dang I miss that show!!

Well, our story did not ruin our vacation, it just scared the be-jesus out of us!
My dad is a bigger guy, around 300 lbs, so he is a little timid when it comes to ride vehicles.
On our 3rd day, we went to Epcot and rode Test Track. We decided to take the single rider route. 3 adults, we don't mind splitting up. Well, my dad and I end up being in the same car, me in front, he was behind me. He couldn't get his seat belt buckled :scared1: They even have a seat belt check! The CM says "ok, everyone pull the strap" We say "Hey, wait a sec we can't get this buckled" The CM pays no attention and just lets us go on unbuckled. My dad is freaking out the entire ride, especially the ABS tests.
My dad brought it up to the CM at the exit, that the "seat belt check" was completely overlooked. They said nothing, that it was our fault for not alerting the CM. Um, HELLO! That's HIS job to notice if the belts aren't buckled right! We got some fastpasses that could be used on a few of the rides, and that was that.

My dad will NEVER ride Test Track again, he was so scared. The next time we went, he did not ride, but the SAME CM was working at Test Track, but not at seat belt check thank god!

Julie,
Megsmachine is right, I meant nothing to you personally. I quoted you because you seemed upset and I totally understand that since it was a generalization stating that all people from the south are rude which is not true. I just wanted to let you know that another person (not you) from the south got upset at the same post you did and said that it was people from other areas that are rude and not people who are from the south which is also not true. Rude people don't just live in one place. lol I was just stating the ignorance in those statements not in yours. Nothing got turned around just misinterpreted. I'm totally understand where you were coming from in your post.

Ang

Ang - Thank you! All is well, yep misinterpreted! I think the original poster went off into lala land anyway. :)

Mine was at the Pirate and Princess party on Aug. 24th last year. Although its not Disney's fault, it did rain and storm all night to the point where it was dangerous to be outside. There was deadly lightning and tornado warnings. Disney went about it all wrong in my opinion because they did not let the guests know what was going on. We weren't sure if the parade or fireworks would go on, plus we didn't know if we could get a refund or exchange our tickets. Every CM we spoke to told us something different. The next day I also found out that lightning struck the fireworks area and there was a fire. Nothing went on as scheduled and no one knew when and if any of the special pirate and princess party events would take place. We left early and found out they did do the fireworks and parade but very late.

We were there that night also and it was absolutely horrible! We did stay until Midnight but I can't believe they let all of us out in that weather! I should have listened to DH and got tickets for a second night earlier in the trip.

Even though we have had some mishaps at WDW I could never say any of them were bad.

In 2006 we stayed 10 nights at POR before moving on to 3 nights at WL. During our second day at WL my 7 year old showed me a huge bug bite on his arm. It was as big as a golf ball, red, pointy and hot to touch. My husband said it was fine and I kept an eye on it. We went to Vero Beach and it still wasn't getting better. My son came out of the shower one morning and said that the tip had come off when he was drying off with the towel. I took hold of his arm to look at it and the slight pressure caused it to drain. It was a lot of green ***** nastiness. I called our ped at home and they wanted him to be seen immediately. I called our insurance company and found a location to take him to. The doctor said it was an infection and not a bug bite. He wanted to culture it but everything had drained from it already. He put him on some heavy duty antibiotics and thought it could be MRSA. Luckily it started to get better and went away after about three weeks. You can still see the spot on his arm where it was.

Here is a picture after it was getting better

The only sort-of bad experience i had was when i went on RnR in March and i forgot to take my earings out. The ends kept poking behind my ear when we made a turn. But that "bad experience" was my fault. :) Next time ill remember to take my earings out! Haha. :wizard:

:offtopic: Y'all are all so nice. I would probably have to be pulled off of the ice cream cutter lady and maybe her husband too. And for the kids cutting infront of me at DHS, I stand firm and if they do bump me or get infront of me, I loudly say "Excuse You". I am a teacher so I feel that gives me liberty to tell any children what to do no matter where they are or who they belong to!::yes:: I also speak spanish so last summer when some tourists from Mexico got in front of me at a parade, I said some not so nice things about them to my mother! I may be small but I'm not that nice and nobody is gonna mess with me!

Sorry for the hijack!

Our Last trip in 2005 with Me Wife 2Kids 3 and 5, wife's Cousins and two kids, Three Grandma's and one Grandpa.

First night before 3year old gets croup, lucky we have medication and he was ok by morning.

That night the cousins and there two kids call, they went one night early and the code for the villa was incorrect and we couldn't contact the owner because she was in the UK on Holiday. We were worried we were being ripped off since we never rented a Villa before. So I was up to 3am trying to get the code. They had to get a hotel for the night but were able to get in the next morning.

Once we were in Orlando my son with the croup have the worst nosebleed of his short life and almost took him to an emergency room, but it stopped right before we made the decision. This also led to our first hidden Mickey, a blood stain on a tissue was shaped like Mickey!

To top it off the kids were so excited to see the private pool in the Villa, my son with the croup and the nosebleed decided to walk straight into the deepend and my Mother in Law had to jump in with her clothes on to retrieve him.

None the Less..... This was the greatest Vacation Ever!!!! Everything else went perfect.

SWANK!!! Holy Cow!! You are soooo funny!! I am rolling!!:lmao: Not in a bad-make-fun-of-your-kid-way though. My middle son gets nosebleeds every now and then, so I can sympathize-but the hidden Mickey just really cracked me up! All my kids are like that-dying and hunting hidden Mickeys!! Oh, Boy, I gotta quit laughing before I pass out!!
Poor little kid-then the pool thing!

Our first trip was the week between Christmas and New Years. We got to the parks an hour before they opened and we had a plan, so touring was not a problem at all. The problems that we encountered were the tram from the MK parking lot and the monorail. Our boys were 2,2 and 4. We had a double stroller and an umbrella stroller and then the kids. My DH would take the strollers and I had both twins in my arms and I tried to also have my 4 year old hold onto to me. We would get in position for the tram or monorail and wait patiently. Finally we would get to the front of the line and we would start moving towards the vehicle and people from behind us would literally run past us and get on leaving no room for us. It took four trams before we could get on once and three monorails. I was so discouraged with rude people because they could see we were headed to a particular section and they took up the room. We started taking the ferry over to MK and that was so much easier because the kids could stay in their strollers. The tram remained a problem the entire trip.

My worst experience had to be when I rode space mountain 8 times in a row because there was literally no line. Boy do I love that ride. Still it was my worst experience. Everything I have done at Disney has been better than that.

I missed Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween party because I had to go to the hospital. (Celebration hospital is very nice, by the way.) I wouldn't necessarily call that a 'worst experience at Disney', however.

I think my worst experiences have happened on almost every trip. There's always a point on our trips that I realize that it's almost over. That really harshes my mellow.

My worst trip was in May of 2006 - it was not at all Disney's fault.

My husband of 16 years walked out on us 6 days before our trip. Myself and 3 kids were completely devastated. They of course still wanted to go on the trip and I didn't want them to have anymore heartache. I wasn't a long distance driver, husband always did that. So we loaded in the car, I was stiff as a board driving and they were crying the whole way. We stopped at my dad''s in Jacksonville for 2 nights. My middle son came down with a terrible, terrible stomach bug. When it was time to leave, he was still sick but wanted to go. He slept most of the way and not meaning to give TMI, had god awful gas that we had to keep opening the windows!! Again we were all laughing and crying at the same time. (We had originally booked 2 nights at Pop and 7 nights at POFQ - I didn't have it in me to get to POP on our scheduled day, I called Disney to cancel, told them our story and the kindly refunded those 2 nights w/o any penalty....so nice!!)

Finally arrived and began our vacation. (BTW, husband's brother's family was meeting us for this vacation). The second night at POFQ, I woke up in the night and found blood everywhere.....the floor, sinks, towels, looked like a murder scene. I turn on the lights, and middle son (again) is lying in bed covered in blood. I scream and wake him up, he has no idea what happened. After cleaning him up and noticing his swollen nose and giant cut on his forehead, he remembers falling out of the bed and hitting his head on the side table. I never heard him and I guess he just wandered around the room! When I called for housekeeping, POFQ was great - came right over with "haz mat" gloves and bags and took all the linens and the cleaned the room.

The next day, my oldest son came down with the stomach virus!! Worse than the other son. He was so tired and worn out. I left him in the room alone (he was 14) and took the other 2 to the parks. I would call and check on him and my former bil/sil would check on him when they brought their kids back for naps (the were in the room next door). When he still wasn't better the next day, I went to the little store at POFQ looking for Immodium for him. They had none and called POR who were also out. They offered to have it delivered to my room, but it would take at least 2 hours. Since I had a car, I left all 3 of them in the room (bil was in the room next door checking on them) and I drove to a drugstore (crying and exhausted the whole way!) to get some medicine. He was finally well enough to come to the parks 2 days later. He really didn't have much fun and neither did I considering all we had went through!

We had our "make up" trip this past April and we had a much better time!!

neice ran into one of the temporary ropes they put up for parades. it wasn't there when she went for ice cream and when she came back - at full pelt - it caught her under the neck (giving her a really nasty rope burn) flipped her into the air and she caught her head on the road on the way down. just at the bottom of main street.

double ouch, much crying and we had to leave. quite nasty really.

Several years ago, my wife and I were waiting to take a picture with Mickey in MGM (approximately where the new Toy Story ride is located). A little boy and his grandmother were in the line ahead of us. He was playing on a stanchion when it tipped over, giving him a nasty gash on his forehead. There were medical and other personnel (including legal, I imagine) there unbelievably fast.

It wasn't really a bad experience for us, but it was for the boy and his grandmother.
