Worst customer service EVER - GE Appliances

After an hour and 56 minutes of holding:scared1:  I finally got a supervisor on the line who 1. Told me the builder should have replaced it for me and 2. ordered a replacement microwave for us. Should arrive sometime next week although I'm not sure how it is going to be installed because we are NOT taking another day off work. Why couldn't GH have done this the first time we called, 2 weeks ago!

Unfortunately for me I have a kitchen full of GE appliances...

I will NEVER buy another GE product! EVER!!!

I also had a terrible experience with GE about 2 years ago, we bought brand new front load washer and dryer set and it would sparatically get stuck on one cycle...it took over 3 hours to wash one load. I called customer service and told them, they sent out a 'technician', of course, when he ran the washer, it was one of those times where it worked fine! Then it happened again, another visit with a technician. Finally, I got frustrated and talked to a supervisor and they sent out another new washer. Wouldn't you know, the same thing happened AGAIN! They sent out another technician and a plumber, finally they sent me a tiny little piece to replace...and low and behold, it was fixed.

But if I can help it, I will not buy another GE product again. It was the most frustrating times. :sad2: The customer service reps and technician just kept insisting that I was doing something wrong and that there was NOTHING wrong with their machine.

Good luck with everything, hope it all works out!

We have a houseful of GE appliances, and, knock on wood, have had no major problems. Our only problem was a couple of years ago, we installed a new microwave. Well, an essentially decorative plate on the side, just fell off one day - nothing hit it, landed on it, - it just fell off. My DH called GE about getting it fixed it because it was only a few months old. They said they had to send a technician, and he told them, I can fix it - I just need the part. They insisted on sending a technician to fix it. Okey - dokey, send him on. We're assuming he's coming with the part to fix it. The technician shows up - "Yep, it's broke. You need a plate here." Um, yeh, that's what we told them when we called. "Well, I don't have one - we'll have to order you one and send it to you. It's an easy fix - think you could pop it in yourself?" Wonder how much GE paid that service tech to come out??

Congratulations on making it through the GE system....Luckily it only cost you a couple of hours on the phone, and some time waiting for a repair person. I think I'd be more upset with the repair company (contracted by GE) who didn't show up and didn't call, than with GE. Also I'd be a little disappointed in the builder of a new house that wouldn't have worked with you to get the situation resolved. At worst they could have swapped out the unit and worked from their end to get a replacement.

But in the end, everything is working out...As for the installation, if they are sending out an exact replacement, I would do it myself rather than wait for the service company again. I'm assuming an over the range type model, so it should just be a matter of removing a couple of screws, taking down the old one, then hanging the new one on the exact same hardware that is already mounted to the wall. My wife and I installed ours new one when we did some kitchen remodeling, and it should be even easier with the mounting hardware done because of the previous unit.

Congratulations again. Hopefully this new one works for years and years.

OP - I completely sympathize. Your story is frighteningly similar to mine. After my experience with GE I told my husband it would be over my dead body I'd ever buy something other than lightbulbs from them again. Their "customer service" is a complete and utter joke.

I just want to let you know that I can sympathize with you. I will never again buy any GE products. We had problems with our freezer my brother bought the same one we have about a year before us and we both had the same problems. Their customer service is not very good.:confused3

Just wanted to add that my brother had problems with his microwave, dishwasher, and freezer all within a few months of each other and of course they where out of warranty by about a month and he found it cheaper to just replace them than to have their repair man come. With the prices they charge it is crazy.
