Okay, Ill bite (ha!). We were at the Flame Tree Barbecue on a rather crowded day, when half-way through our meal, were approached no, bombarded by a mother/daughter duo asking if we were almost done. All I could muster in response was, Come again?
Are you almost done?, she repeated.
We both shook our heads and apologized.
Okay, but this was our table.
We had been eating for 10 minutes by that point, and there were no identifying articles, children, senior citizens, etc. marking the table as their territory. Baffled, we returned to our meal.
But then, 5 minutes later, a man walks up to us and just kinda stares! We were in the little covered canopy area overlooking the water, and every table was occupied.
I understand theres a problem., he says.
At this point, I caved and told my friend out of the side of my mouth, whydontwejustgo...
But he wouldnt have it. And in fact, he began eating SLOWER. Asked me if I wanted dessert, which I always do
but usually opt for cookies after CS meals. He went and got me a Key Lime Pie or whatever it was they had there. And I dont even LIKE Key Lime Pie. My friend is the kind of person who seems to bask in this sort of confrontation. But I was left holding down the fort.. and this was pre-my purchasing a smartphone
so I had to kind of look at my AK map and seem very interested.
He returned, sipped his coffee, and I ate my pie. More people appeared, sighing making clicking frustrated tongue noises , and stared at our table. Finally, the folks beside us cleared out and a table was free.
WHY did you make me do that?!
Because I can!
