I didnt see it , but i was at the Haunted Mansion when that guy jumped out of the log in Splash Mountain.
Whats the worst you saw or heard?

Yes, that one is pretty bad, but the worst one I heard about was when the man jumped from the top of the Contemporary.

Boy, was I surprised that someone else remembered that. It was in fall of 1992, shortly before the Top of the World closed to become the California Grill. We were at WDW at the time, but didn't hear about it til a couple days after it happened. Disney really hushed it up. We were at the MK that day too, and yet never knew anything had happened that day.

Several years ago at DL a CM was crushed between 2 moving walls while taking a "shortcut" between the theaters in the CoP building - I don't know if it was the CoP show or America Sings that was housed in the building at the time. They added "break away" walls after the incident. I'm glad I didn't actually SEE the accident.

There was also that CM that fell from skyway at MK that made the ride close forever.

When we drove down in 1998 we were parking our car in the PI parking lot right in front of our space was a little hill, then a sidewalk where the Disney transportation buses pickup/drop off people. We were just starting to get out of the car when time sort of stopped.
The bus driver had gone to the back and helped someone in a wheel chair use the lift. Then somehow the person in the wheelchair was in front of the bus (not directly). And the bus started rolling. The driver was (I think) with the wheelchair person. Everything happened pretty quickly, but someone got into the bus and put on the emergency brake. I think the bus hit another one or something else because I can hear the crunch of metal still....
No one was hurt, but it was pretty scary.

There was also a small child killed at DL on the Peoplemover shortly after the ride opened, that is why the "railings" were added to the cars, he was jumping from car to car. Note that the DL Peoplemeover was a completely different design than the cars/ride system at WDW.

As far as the CMs death at WDW closing the Skyway, I think it was probably scheduled to close anyway. The one at DL had been removed a year or two earlier. I always liked the Skyway.

We were visiting WDW when that woman gave birth to the
baby in a restroom in Tomorrowland and abandoned the
child. How awful!

We were also there during the hostage crisis at the Boardwalk.

Not accidents, per se, but some pretty scary stuff!

Stepman, I never heard of that one. Was that what made the cable cars at MK close forever? A CM falling from one?

I recall the hostages at the Boardwalk (that was a family crisis, right?), but to go to the parks to give birth and abandon a baby is unbelievable!

I was at the Magic Kingdom the day the guy jumped out of the log on Splash Mountain and got hit by another log. We had ridden on Splash Mountain about an hour before it happened. We were going to go on it again, but decided not to because the line was too long. I can't imagine what it must have been like for the people in the log that hit the guy. What a thing to have to witness.

This isn't an accident, but when I was at Disney World in December of 1998, a worker at the House of Blues was killed by a co-worker one night.

I guess I now understand why this was such a hot topi on the stock holder elections last year. I didn't understand why DIS was so-o-o adverse to it being in the reports, but I think now, I am glad.

I once read in a book written to bash Disney that a woman in a watermouse was struck and killed by one of the giant boats that take passengers back and forth from TTC to MK. The captain of the boat put the reverse thrusters on and sucked her into the propellers. The woman's body was found by divers at the bottom of 7 seas lagoon, but WDW officials refused to bring the body up until dark!

That story really disturbed me!

This past year didn't a guest at the GF commit suicide by drowning himself in the lake?

1) Haunted Mansion a child had his nose peirced in front of us by those sharp railings

2)I heard a man stood up on Space MT i won't say what happened you can guess

3)I don't know if this is what ContempoSMT was talkin about but my uncle was in MK when the man got of the boat on Slash mt. to try and take a picture of the next one coming down.

4) This one ain't so bad but one year two people got stuck in the slide at the yacht & beach club.

I could think of more but i don't think I wanna.

:( :( :( :( :(

Boy, this thread is depressing....and it all happened at the happiest place on earth.

They sure can keep very quiet and manage to help teh guests forget quickly...

I recall all the problems the animals first had after arriving at the AK park... Some died of poisoning, others ran over by the safari cars... It was a sad story of adaptation, but they've managed by now... Or I would not be visiting it ;)

Last May, shortly after riding Space Mountian, we were told that an elderly woman in the car behind us suffered a heart attack and appeared to have died on the floor at the end of the ride. It was pretty sad.

I think the worst was the person who got killed when one of the rope tier-uppers (sorry- can't think of the word) snapped off of the Columbia at DL and killed a man just walking by...some of these other fatalities involve people either committing suicide or being reckless...this guy was just walking along, minding his own business when this happened. Very sad.
