Worse for Motion Sickness...Aerosmith or Everest?

Which is going to be worse? Or are they both going to be bad lol? I'm thinking RnR might be worse because of the inversions, but EE goes backwards which I know will be wretched. Star Tours makes me sick as a dog (and yet I stupidly ride it every trip) but BTMRR doesn't bother me at all so I'm torn. I want to go on them both at some point during the trip, but I don't want to spend the rest of the day(s) feeling cruddy. If I can handle at least one I'll be overjoyed :)

Thoughts? Thanks!

Everest on the backwards part kind of bothered me for a minute... RNRC is so fast and smooth it didn't bother me. I get motion sick really easily, and neither one made me sick.

ETA: I can't do any simulators or 3D action shows. THOSE will make me puke! I can't even watch my DBF play his video games or watch youtube videos with a lot of camera movement without getting sick lol

Awesome. Thanks for the info! This is exactly me, too. I am the person airplane barf bags were made for :rotfl:

in general roller coasters don't give people motion sickness.
thats probably why BTMRR isn't a problem for you.
RNRC is definitely more intense than EE but again neither should really make you motion sick.

star tours is a simulator ride where your body is being jerked around while you are looking at a screen full of mottion.
its not uncommon for people to get motion sick on those type of attractions which is probably why you have a problem with it.

just take some dramamine about 30-60 minutes prior to going on rides that you think may make you motion sick.

I don't get motion sickness on the roller coasters, but I can tell you that Everest will give me a little bit of a headache. With RNRC, just make sure you hold your head back and steady or your head will bounce around like a bobble head.

Unfortunately roller coasters make me sick. I no longer ride space mountain or RnR. BTMRR makes me queasy, EE makes me really queasy. I need to remember to try Bonine on my next trip. I won't ride Star Tours either.

I would think EE would make the motion sickness worse. The going backwards and not seeing where you are going make DGF sick. She takes a Dramamine a little before we ride EE. RnR is pretty smooth and she doesn't usually need the Dramamine, but she would only ride it once out of fear of getting sick after a second ride.

It depends from person to person and what the cause of your problem is. I get motion sick pretty easily, but roller coasters don't get me sick. I had a friend who tried Expedition Everest because she could handle Thunder Mountain, but the backwards part got her equilibrium so thrown off (due to an inner ear thing) that she needed help walking off and out of the ride after. Unfortunately, sometimes you just don't know how your body will react until you try it!

I've been on some of the biggest coasters out there,200,300,400 feet tall,80-120mph and I'm fine on pretty much all of them. Most of the highest fastest ones are probably my favorites and I've never had any issues with them, rides like Cedar Points Millenium Force at 310 feet tall at 93 mph or a Sheikra at Busch Gardens Tampa with a 90 degree drop from 200 feet at 70 mph are examples of some of my favorites. There's probably 10% of the 120-130 coasters I've been on where I might have an issue riding them,I'll still ride them but I limit myself to riding them to say 2-3 times in the day.Amazingly two of those 10 rides or so are Everest and RnRc,for different reasons. For example Everest is probably the only coaster I actually get dizzy on from the backwards part,my 65 year old mom rides it with no issues but I get dizzy.RnRc is not really that bad, the only real issue I have is a little head banging during the corkscrews,I'm probably exaggerating putting it on my 2-3 max list.Other coasters I have issues on are Manta at Sea World,I don't like the way the restraint restrains my legs, for whatever reason I have an issue with this restraint system,I worry if the coaster gets stuck with me in that restraint I might have a panic attack. The only coaster I told myself I would never ride again was the Manhattan Express coaster in Vegas,I believe they changed the name of it but simply put it's an unrideable coaster, incredibly rough.Another coaster that changed over time from rideable to unrideable was Gwazi at Busch Gardens Tampa.I remember it being rickety and fun but my last ride on it I felt lucky my internal organs were still intact, again, out of control rough, the coaster has closed for future additions so I guess they realized it was unfixable, they did try and even changed the trains and fixed the track to no avail. My point is that you can never tell how you'll handle it until you ride it,you might have issues with things you don't even think about like a restraint system, but for the most part Disney coasters are very tame compared to other coasters and most park goers can handle them,so I would try them and then decide if you want a second ride.

I agree that it depends on the person. I can't do simulator rides (so no Star Tours) or spinning rides (so no Mission Space or Teacup), but I can do Everest without too much trouble (once is okay, twice in a row is problematic) and I don't have trouble with BTMRR. I can't do RnRC and I do think it's because of the inversions. Overall, my feeling is that if you think it might make you motion sick, either skip it or save it for the last thing of the day, so that if it does bother you, you can sleep it off and won't be miserable for the entire day.

RnR never makes me feel nauseous. I can ride it over and over again. EE does make me feel nauseous if I ride it more then once. :crazy2:

This is me too! Once on EE and I'm fine. Twice puts me over the edge though, and I don't generally get motion sick on roller coasters.

I don't get motion sick at all on RnR but it can give me a headache. I find that my head kind of gets banged around and combined with the loud music makes my head hurt. :confused3

I haven't been on EE for a while but did RNRC in April and my legs were shaking by the end of the ride - and I do not have motion sickness! I recovered very quickly however. I couldn't handle the speed I guess. I also couldn't get my harness to go up after the ride and had to yell for a CM to help me with the fear I would have to go on the ride again - AAHH!! I"m fine on BTMRR, SM and 7DMT, but that was definitely my last ride on RNRC.

For me, EE is way worse. It's because of going backwards. After, I feel super queezy.

RnR doesn't make me feel sick at all!

They both bother me. I probably won't ride Everest anymore but would still consider RnRC.

As for Star Tours, I have never been more ill after riding an attraction than Star Tours. Never again.

Let me state right up front that I don't get motion sickness -- I consider that a blessing, especially after seeing how many here on the DIS are susceptible.

However, the closest I get to feeling any discomfort is the very unsettling disorientation that I get on that backwards section of EE in the dark... I've seriously wondered if that portion of the track goes upside down (I know it doesn't, but it's very disorienting to me!).

RnR is no issue for most since the loops are 1 G or better, keeping you firmly planted (and oriented) in your seat.

I rode RNR a few years back and while it made me feel a little nauseous I recovered quick but when I rode EE this past trip I felt gross for a good hour.

This is me 100%.
I still ride both coasters though.
