My mom, my DD6 and I are arriving in Orlando the 11th (of March) for our Wonder cruise on the 13th. We're staying at the MCO Hyatt the first night, and at Wilderness Lodge Villas the second night (via rented points). My mom is excited by the prospect of going to the Magic Kingdom on the 12th, but I'm worried that the crowds will be too heavy because of Spring Break, etc.

My only other experience with WDW was late last September, when it was so uncrowded we barely had to wait for anything. I'm afraid that if we have to spend a lot of time in line, it's not going to be as enjoyable. Since we could spend the day at Downtown Disney (DD loves "Legoland") and then hanging out at the Wilderness Lodge for free, I'm just wondering if it's worth it.

On the other hand, I LOVE the Magic Kingdom.

So, what would you do?

Thanks,
Joye

Personally, I'd go to the Magic Kingdom. Pick one or two rides for fast passes and then enjoy all the other rides that are seldom crowded. Take time to watch the parade, buy some matching hats, grab a bit to eat somewhere fun, and make it a relaxing sort of MK day. It will be the perfect kick-off to your wonderful cruise!

I sure hope it won't be crowded in the MK on the 12th, coz I'm gonna be there! Still, I'm not too worried about the crowds. Disney just cancelled the March 14th E-ride night, presumably due to a downward revision in estimated crowd size. That's gotta be a positive sign, at least that's how I view it (gotta find something positive about it).

Personally, I couldn't imagine being THAT close to the MK and not visiting it. You're only a boat ride away! You don't even need to be there right at opening time to enjoy it. Sure, you'll wait for some rides, but I'd be surprised if it was that bad. There's always Fastpass. If your mom hasn't seen the MK and wants to go, how can you say no?? ;)

March 12th is a Wednesday, it probably will not be too crowded. I've found Tuesday & Wednesday to be the best days for MK.

Definitely go--you're only a boat ride away, and your Mom wants to do it---but:

Go early. Even on non-Magic Hour days, you get a lot more done in the first 90 minutes than at any other time.

If you don't already know how to use FastPass, and which MK rides have it, learn. Here's a link:

Use FastPass, no need to wait in the long lines.

Remember some attractions rarely have long lines--Liberty Bell Riverboat, Hall of Presidents, Tiki Room, Small World, Country Bears...

Take in some of the live entertainment that you might have passed up before--if you hear the steel drum band in Adventureland, head on over.

If you are regular Disney visitors, as it sounds, consider getting a parkhopper pass (cheaper on a per-day basis). And then if you're really gung-ho, you can hop over to Epcot, which is open 2 hours later than MK!!

Don't miss the Electrical Water Pageant to close out your DW evening. Here's a link:

We'll do it! I guess I really needed a pep talk or something...Thanks!!!

Joye, once again Magic Kingdom bound!
