Worried about our weather next week

Looks like it's suppose to rain 30-60% the first half of our 8 day trip. I realize it's still at least a week out, but...doesn't look good.

We are also going next week. Luckily there is plenty of time for the weather to change!!

Seems like there is always a chance of rain. In my experience that simply means there is a 30-60% chance of rain at some point during the day. Not a chance it will rain 30-60% of the day. Probably just an afternoon shower rather than a rain all day kind I thing.

We're leaving on the 19th as well.

I told my wife the same thing...lower crowds.

When we went Dec 2009 we had some bad weather too. It did rain quite a bit and it was really cold especially for Fl. We just pack accordingly and made sure to have some good rain coats, cover for stroller and we had on layers. It wasn't so bad. Not the perfect ideal weather but I didn't mind the lower crowds. The down pours didn't last long.

The Florida forecast always looks like that this far out. I wouldn't spend any time worrying about it. It is what it is. If it rains, just put on your poncho and theme park on. Our second day of SWW got rained out this summer and we still had a great time.

While we were there this past June Tropical Storm Andrea hit. It rained off and on for one day (pretty heavy at times) and then poured for two days straight. It messed up our plans a bit - no water park, no golf, no eating around the World Showcase at Epcot. Instead we ate at Cape May Cafe, went to Disneyquest, slept in one morning. We made due.

We would have been better prepared if we had:

- better ponchos (Dollar Store ponchos do not cut it during sustained rain. Spring for the Disney ones or buy good quality, LONG, ponchos at home.)

- flip flops or Teva like sandals - Shoes and socks got soaked. We had to stuff them with paper towels every night to dry them (this dried them well, but they got wet again the next day in the parks - squishy and icky). Tevas would be better than flip flops because your feet won't slip around or out of Tevas like they do in flip flops.

You never know here...last week there was a zero percent chance of rain one day and it poured, the next it was a 60% chance and it was sunny all day...that's Florida for you:)

We were there during Andrea too. DH and I made a list of all the attractions we could still do in the rain (with no lightning). We went ahead with our plan and we were able to do everything we wanted. DH and I had ponchos and we had the kids in the stroller under the rain cover. The crowds were lighter and it wasn't as hot. Bring extra shoes and you'll be fine.

We were there during Andrea too! Our Keens were the best thing we brought, and we bought Disney ponchos, except for DH. He had a Columbia rain jacket, and if I'd know how much rain we would have, I'd have bought them for all of us. We still had a great time. We did play mini golf in the rain(not storm) one evening and had a ball!

We are arriving on the 19th also - I really hope that the rain is going to be just afternoon showers !?!

We also arrive on the 19th for 8 days and I've already packed our rain jacket and pants. My thought is a rainy day at Disney is still better then a rainy day at home :-)

We leave on the 22nd and if there's one thing I've learned over the years it's to not put stock in weather forecasts that are more than 1-2 days out. Florida's weather can change at the drop of a hat, sunny one minute and downpouring the next. I admit the rain prediction makes things a bit glum but definitely don't give up hope that you'll have a sunny, rain-free trip just yet. And if it does rain, take advantage of the empty parks. We've been in DHS during downpours and were able to walk onto TSMM several times in a row, at MK and able to do the same for Pan, SM and the other headliners. I don't like rain but if it means we aren't having to wait in lines, I'm all for it!

We were there two weeks ago and the forecast for almost everyday was between 30%-50% chance of rain....It didn't rain once the 8 days we were there. Actually when we were boarding our plane in NY the airport weather for Orlando was ''raining'' and even when we landed the pilot said ''rain''. It wasn't raining at all! Try not to worry, there always seems to be a chance of showers in Florida's weather forecast. Have a great trip:goodvibes

We were there for Andrea this year and Debby in 2012. Debby just sat over us mocking us for days and the wind with Debby was OMG. We’d planned that trip for a year so I decided as long as it was not dangerous and the children were doing well, we would keep going. We did everything we wanted except for World Showcase. I think the fact there wasn’t little to no lightening really helped. That and the children really kept great attitudes. They entertained themselves by jumping into puddles splashing me half the time. Worst part was the wind blowing the stroller cover off while it was parked, but my son (then 2) enjoyed walking. I didn’t have it fastened correctly.

Best thing during Debby was both children had rain jackets. My son was too little for a poncho anyway and my daughter actually doesn’t like them. He had a regular rain jacket. She had a rain jacket made of the same material as a good poncho, but was a jacket with a zippered front. I really don’t like them either because of how my arms are out, but I wear them to protect my park bag.

I learned though and in 2013 when Andrea came, I had a water proof jacket on under my poncho since it wasn’t as hot. My daughter ended up in a poncho this year as well because I picked up her jacket in the wrong size, but she wore a hoodie under it and was fine. After Debby, Andrea wasn't really much to us. But she impacted less of our trip than Debby did.

It does do something for the lines. During Debby on the day we now call “Wet Magic” we went at rope drop and in an hour we met, the Fairies, Jasmine and Aladdin, plus Ariel and Eric. I can still see my daughter’s mouth hanging open when I told her usually one of those lines could be an hour.

We still had a wonderful time on both trips. The day Debby poured her worst turned out to be our best day. We still call it wet magic. I am though hoping that on our next trip we get the normal weather with the afternoon rain that passes through.

I check in on Saturday too... There is a 30 percent chance on Mon and Tuesday but it's such a small chance- I'm really not sweating it. Doubt it will pour all day... Now the scattered thunderstorms- that's a different story... :(

Seems mixed everyday. Some days it's scattered, some days it's a low chance. Guess we'll just take the attitude some others did and slash around and have a "wet magic" time!

There are many indoor activities to plan to go to during the rain. Usually, it passes by quickly. Don't forget your ponchos! They are $8 in the park
