Update: We just heard from the vet again, and they ran his bloodwork one more time. His levels are the same as yesterday, so he gets to come home tonight!

We almost lost our Lab late last year, when she ate a package of sugarless chewing gum, that she found in my husband's overnight bag. He left it on the floor and it was just too much to resist. What made it worse, was we weren't sure which dog had eaten it (I have two) and since one piece of gum can cause serious problems, both of my dogs had to be treated.

Around $500 later, both of them ended up being fine.

Not a lot of people are aware that sugarless gum can be fatal to pets. We make sure to keep all purses closed and high off of the ground now.
