Worried about Coronado Spring Resort

My husband just won a sales contest and a trip for 2 to Disney. The thing I am worried about is the hotel. We are to stay at the Coronado Springs Resort and from everything that I am reading on the internet, reviews, people seem very unhappy with this resort.

The general comment is that the rooms are shabby, carpets stained, mousekeeping does not change bedding, and the hotel has a general "motel" feeling. Definately not Disney resort atmosphere.
Has anyone stayed there recently? What was your viewpoint of the resort? I would like to know before they book us, because maybe we could change to another moderate resort if necessary.

We have only stayed Deluxe in the past are we going to be really dissapointed?

Thanks for the help

Loved it.
Great landscaping.
Super pool.
And the bus transportation was fantastic.
Never had to wait very long.

Our room was not shabby in any way whatsoever, and we had no problems with mousekeeping.

I think you will like CS. Please don't worry. After all, you're in Disney!!

I'm not sure what you've read, but people here seem to love Coronado Springs. We sure do! In fact, it's our second favorite Disney resort - behind only the Wilderness Lodge! And, as you can see by my signature, we've stayed quite a few places. The grounds are absolutely beautiful and the architecture is so wonderful. The attention to detail that has gone into maintaining every aspect of the theme is really amazing. CSR has a wonderful, laid-back feeling that seems a million miles away from the hustle and bustle of the parks. The main pool area is awesome and the foodcourt is the best on property. We thought that CSR felt much more "deluxe" than the other moderates. The staff was so helpful and they really went out of there way to make us happy. The transportation was great too. It's definately the best bus transportation at any resort we have stayed at. We also loved the room. Ours was spotless and not run-down or worn at all. We can't wait to go back to Coronado Springs on a future trip!

Try checking out this link for some great pictures and information.

I agree with GEM - we stayed there in July and really liked it. We had a water view room, and did not find the room to be worn down at all. My son loved the pool area and I really liked the "quiteness" of the resort. It really is beautiful.

Its not like any motel I have stayed at. It is beautiful, the pool is probably only second to SAB. Some people don't care for the food court, but other than that it is awesome. Here is another web site:

Make sure you bookmark those bad reviews, because I am sure you will want to go back defend CSR after your trip.

Two years ago we split our stay between WL and Coronado Springs. I was attending a conference at CSR. We liked the room better than WL, it was bigger and we had 2 children. Really liked the pool (although was not 0 entry). Loved having the bikes and riding around the resort. It does cater to a lot of conferences so you may see a lot of folks walking around in suits. Very good CMs. Good room service too! Did not like pepper market. Initially found it exciting to have so many food choices but had really bad service. After one particularly bad meal, I wrote a letter to disney and was told that Disney doesn't run Pepper Market but contracts to Marriot for services. We checked in at night, and the CMs took us in a golf cart to our rooms and couldn't have been nicer. I think that you will enjoy it.

We stayed there May 2001. As far a mod resorts go it's the only one I would stay at. IWe loved it and thought the food court was great. I am sure you won't be disappointed. Hope you have a great trip!!

Sorry but if I won a trip to Disney I wouldn't care where I stayed as long as it was on Disney property

I am not complaining, but even though it is free I want to enjoy my stay. This board is for asking questions and I was looking for some opinions.

Some of the moderate resorts have been going through rehab, currently CBR, and I wanted to make sure that CSR was not next on the list. Any resort can get run down with the amount of guest Disney brings in.

Thanks for all the great responses, I am feeling much better now.

Again another voice to say we love CSR. We're DVC members who usually who stay at BCV and BWV when pay cash CSR is where we stay and we don't regret it or miss the 'deluxe' resort at all. Keep in mind CBR is a much older resort that CSR too.

We're going in May for 9 nights and I cannot wait!!!! Thanks for all the positive responses. I've not been yet but have heard that it has wonderful bus service! The busses don't get as crowded because the convention folks don't live in the parks as we do :D . The theming looks really fun! And my kids can't wait to try the slide (neither can I or DH)! also have heard nice things about the variety of food at the food court. We've loved CBR and POFQ and think with a Disney resort we can't go wrong. Hope to try them all 1 at a time!!;)

jdkdorn have a great time! Don't forget to check the sites the other posters listed as the resort is HUGE and you may want to request a certain section depending what you want to be near (food court, pool, quiet...as it's just you and DH..maybe the Ranchos?) Let us know how much you enjoyed your stay!!

Haven't stayed at CSR since 1997, but we really enjoyed our stay there. The grounds were lovely and very well maintained. Our room was immaculate. I have heard that the food court can get very crowded, but I thought the food was fantastic.
Enjoy your stay, I really think you will like CSR!

We stayed at CSR for 12 nights two years ago and loved it. It's very peaceful, the landscaping is beautiful, it's romantic at night and the rooms were very comfortable. If I were to choose a moderate CSR would be my first choice by far. I wouldn't worry in the slightest about it. Have a great trip and congrats on winning such a cool prize!

I had won 2 nights at a moderate resort and I chose CS. I was pleasantly surprised to say the least! its a moderate resort with the deluxe feel to it! It was absolutely wonderful! I would definitely stay there again!
The different places to eat are truly wonderful in my opinion! You have quite a variety to choose from.

We used to stay at deluxes all the time. 2 years ago we stayed at CSR (Ranchos Section), and really loved it. Room was very clean, grounds and pool were great, Pepper Market is fantastic. I've stayed at the Poly 3 times, but, if I had to choose now between Poly and CSR for the same price, I think I'd pick CSR every time.

We have never actually stayed at the resort. It is the only moderate that we have ever visited for atmosphere. We have been to the food court. It's our favorite food court. We've gone to the Mayan Grill. The food and atmosphere are very nice. We even rented a surrey bike, rode around the lake and stopped off at the pool bar. If we are ever unable to get into a deluxe(We usually need one for 5), I will happily stay at Coronado!
