Worm in the Cod

EWWWW, I went to cook dinner tonight and opened a package of Cod from safeway and there was this long white worm in it!!! My DH is going to cook it and eat it anyway. I say no way and that the kids can't have any either.

My day said that fish stick are full of those same white worms. I am about to become a vegetarian!

Would you eat fish that you saw a worm in? Do you think most fish has worms and we just can't see them?

I was just reading online that 5 worms per 2 pounds of fish was an acceptable amount!!! I guess they are found frequently in fish and you just have to cook the heck out of it.

I still can't bring myself to eat it though!

This had happened to me too, a long time ago. I had already cooked and eaten most of the fish before I found it.

I did some research at the time and found out all fish who live close to the top of the water, cod being one of the, are prone to these worms. I was also told they are harmless. I still have trouble eating fish at times but DH loves it so I make it every month or so.

Here is a tip...take the fish fillet and hold it up to a light, the window will do in day time. You can see through the flesh pretty well and you can spot any of those critters if they are there. I have a fish market I go to and they do this for me so I can see the pieces before I buy them.

Yeah, I know it is gross but manageable.

My thoughts exactly Browneyes. I have never liked seafood, but this just sounds so icky.....worms in the fish....I am sure that many of the things I do eat, (beef, poultry) have icky things too (although not worms I hope), but I don't want to know about them!!!

fish or catch fish......fish like bass and some other types of may june fish are sometimes full of worms.......sorry......but you can hold them up to the light and see them and then cut them out.....I think that you all would be very surprised to see the stuff we DO eat......
