So my son and I are going to be in Disney June 9- June 12. We plan on taking a day in EPCOT. World Showcase is really my thing, but I would like my son to enjoy it with me. He's 10. Actually he'll be 11 by trip time. Is Kidcot to young for him? Does that still exist? Shall I just let him pick say 3 countries he's interested in and we visit? We'll definitely be in Norway for FEA. So I'll have him pick 3 additional countries.

Love to hear all your suggestions ! :thumbsup2

Let him do the Perry missions. The missions don't cover all the countries but there are many. And let him try a snack or buy a candy treat in each country. Also, in June it is likely to be hot and there is little shade in WS so be prepared .

Thanks for this! I'll look into these missions. And the snack or candy is a GREAT idea! :thanks:

He may find the kidcot stations a bit childish for his taste. I would bet he will enjoy doing some of the Perry missions. He might also enjoy doing the Epcot Passport. You could entice him to explore by getting a small snack in every country. The bakery in Norway has some amazing options. I am always up for a frankfurter, or pretzel in Germany. Lunch in China is often part of our tour of World Showcase. There are tons of unusual snacks and drinks available both in the rear of the China pavilion, and in the back of the store in Japan. The American Adventure has funnel cakes, Mexico has Churros, France has ice cream, and croissants. The UK has short breads (and lots of other goodies too . . . did I mention short breads lol). Germany has caramels, and caramel pop corn. Italy has chocolates. Don't forget to go inside the Mexico pavilion for the Gran Fiesta Tour. He might also enjoy seeing the drummers perform in Japan, or hearing the band play in the UK, and of course, Illuminations to end the night.

Any reason for three? Any reason why you want him to pick?

My suggestion would be to take him to the ones you find particularly interesting. Show your enthusiasm and allow him to discover something new with you. Those CircleVision movies are pretty spectacular. Maybe not something he would choose but if you chose that I know he'll love it.

Excellent!! Thank you!

And short breads, no I don't think you did!! :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Just didn't want to overwhelm him. But I like your thoughts! And I wanted him to pick to see what he's interested in... simple as that. :goodvibes

I would also suggest letting him explore and try some sort of treat in each country.
I'll also recommend the store (Mitsukoshi) in Japan which is huge and has many different interesting things. It is my favorite store in all of WDW!
Let him try some candy, cookies, or drink (authentic green tea or Ramune(Japanese soda), outside at the Kabuki cafe he can try
Kakigōri, which is Japanese shaved ice.

You know him better than I. If more than four (Norway and his 3) will overwhelm him then that's the way to go.

Some WONDERFUL suggestions here! As much as I've been to Disney, it's still nice to hear from others who've been just a bit more! :woohoo:

Well, allow me to suggest short breads :) If he likes fish and chips, the Yorkshire County Fish Shop is quite nice too!

I recall really being mesmerized by the Mexico pavilion where it is always nighttime inside. I found that particularly interesting as a kid. I think that was my absolute favorite World Showcase pavilion.

Why only 6? I would stop at all of them! My kids have always loved the world showcase. They just turned 13 but were still coloring bears a few months ago. There is something cool and fun at each country, as others have mentioned. Watch the films and tour the buildings inside of the pavilions. It's fun just to browse the country specific shops.

We went this summer. Our oldest is 8 and really enjoyed the Kidcot thing, but I have no idea if he'd like it at 10. Both my kids (youngest is 5) seemed to really like Epcot. They really enjoyed pretending that they were actually in the different countries. Meeting princesses helped for my daughter too. ;) Does he like pressed pennies? They enjoyed getting one from each country. My son loves early Amercian history, so he really enjoyed the American Adventure pavilion. And they both LOVED eating at the Biergarten in Germany - there's a band and all the kids dance and it's just fun. I'd visit as many countries as you can, but definitely visit the ones he wants too.

My DD was 8 when we last went and she enjoyed the WS. She did try treats from different countries, did the kidcot stuff, learn greetings in several languages she didn't know. She used her French language skills, both in Canada and in France. (We are Canadian and DD takes all her classes in French, but we live in the English speaking part of the country). Visit what you want to see, kids need to be bored sometimes, and learn how to deal with it. It's your vacation too and you deserve to do some of the things you want to do too.
