Hey
Has anyone out there ever done a World Showcase bar crawl?, getting a different alcoholic beverage in each of the countries in Epcot? Someone mentioned it on one of these threads the other day in passing. I though it sounded like a different kind of WDW fun so I pretty much just wanted to know what other people thought of the idea. Sounds like it could be fun to me!!!! pirate:

I (Unibrau - Maudite) have (Guiness) no (French red wine) idea (Casa Beer) what (sake) you (Sam Adams) are (Peroni) talking (Becks) about (Tsingtao) at (Glacier Shot) all (Margarita).

Hey now!, I think you know exactly what I am talking about. Thanks for the list of drinks I can expect to see when I go in August!

What you are describing is called "Drinking around the World." Start in Mexico and end up in Canada. I haven't done it in years, but it an awful lot of fun!!

Oh wow, I had no idea there was an official name for it!

One of our trips DH had to park his butt at ESPN to watch a football game. I walked over to Epcot and did some shopping, then came back to get him. After the game we went back to the Worlds and I did my tasting at most of the countries. I'm a wine drinker so no beer for me but I did have the wonderful margarittas. CSR has some kick butt margarittas too. I really enjoyed the wines around the world.

my dh and I do it every time we go - we now, however, skip the sake - YUK!

This is my favorite part of Disney World. Nothing like drinking around the world. :jumping4: :jumping4:

Best to start in mexico and finish in canada, and stumble, I mean walk, back to your room at the boardwalk inn.

If you start in Canada, and go round to Mexico, you can have a reviving Viking Coffee in Norway, just about when you'll need it the most. Alcoholic, caffeinated, and very tasty.

Kungaloosh!
Morticia.

Because you can spend some time in the Rose and Crown with food, seating, and entertainment toward the day's end. Also, a quick exit from International Gateway is a plus.

Also, I prefer champagne in France.

Have fun!

Don't forget to eat a little on the way too. Helps with the hangover or upset stomach the next day. BTDT. princess:

I knew my friends and I weren't the only ones that did this. I also think it is funny that so many of us follow the same path, start in Mexico (lunch and a margarita) & finish in Canada (dinner at Le Cellier) and then settle in for Illuminations.

I call that a good day...

I like to start in Canada because I'm a contrarian.

;)

Seriously, no matter where you start or end, it's a great time and one of the best parts of WDW.

Hey Carnotaur Dad, what is the Glacier Shot you mentioned for Norway? Is that an actual shot or some sort of beer you can get?

Hi Richwdw1023,

The Glacier Shot is a shot of a Norwegian alcohol called Aquavit. It is a potato vodka flavored with caraway seeds and has been drunk in Norway since 1500 or so.

It is very different and very, very good. It's not best first thing on a crawl but goes down great after some beers are already in you.

Enjoy!

:drinking1 Yes, my husband was able to complete it, but I stopped after France after starting in Mexico. It was a good thing we were utilizing Disney transportation.

Here is what we had.. Mexico-Strawberry Margarita- me/ Dos Equis-DH
Norway- Ringus Beer for both
China- Plum wine -me/ some kind of Chinese beer for DH
Germany- Becks for both
Italy- Sparkling wine for me, and Italian beer for DH
America- Bud light for both
Japan- plum wine for me/ Saki for DH
Morocco- Moroccan beer for both
France- Fischer beer for both :tilt:
Great Britain- water for me/ Bass for DH :charac2:
Canada- nothing for me/ Moosehead for DH. :sad2:

Needless to say, we didn't feel too good the next day. :crazy2:

Funny how things like that always look better on paper than in reality!

I started in Mexico and made it to France too! I stumbled on but was flagged by my DH, and rightfully so. Now when we go during the food and wine festival I truly have to pace myself. I am hoping the Australian walkabout will be back. Too much fun!

I'm not a beer or wine drinker. BUT I will be partaking in July with my best friend! Can't wait.

I think that this will be the dangerous year for our Beers Around the World event. We have a friend of a friend joining us for our upcoming WDW vacation and the few times we have been out with him and his wife it got a little on the crazy side.

:drinking1 Heres to no one going to mouse jail.
