World of Color Superthread

I watched the 2nd show from my balcony (through the trees) and could see some of the projections - awesome show!!!:thumbsup2 The logistics of standing with kids for hours looks daunting, but the show - awesome! I was so envious of the CMs - they sounded like they were loving it!

Interesting - this morning I am having my tea on the balcony and they are running through a parade down on the waterfront area of giant, puppet/balloon like characters - a la Tapestry of Nations, but look like they are lit-up with small lights. Is this new or something already taking place? Maybe they are going to entertain the masses while they wait for the show. Gorgeous puppet/balloons of Sebastian, Genie, Tigger, Lumiere and Mike W are the ones I saw. :thumbsup2

For those who were wondering about noise in the rooms at GCV during WOC - I went in and went to bed before the show ended - I could definitely hear the show - but it was not enough to keep me from falling asleep (still on east coast time). I don't think a late show would wake my little ones if they were already out, but if you are a very light sleeper, it might bother you. I'm in a theme park view room very close to the show area.

Most likely that is the Carnivale of Color which will entertain guests before each WOC show begins. It sounds like fun! I am jealous you are there on your balcony right now. We will be there at the GCH seven weeks from today! Thanks for the mini-report. :)

According to the Disney blog, preferred Viewing will be located at the center of Paradise Park. Preferred seating is different than reserved seating and can only be obtained by purchasing a dinner package at WCT or AG and ordering from the set menu according to what I am reading on the official Disney blog.

ETA: In comment 91, Heather makes the distinction between preferred and reserved seating.

Thanks for the link:thumbsup2

Yes, thank you for the report on the Carnivale of Color. I absolutely adored Tapestry of Nations at Epcot and the comparison has me excited for the pre-show. I wasn't expecting much but this sounds great.

They ran things quite weird. But unless your tall, it really doesnt matter where you stand preferred or not, you can't see the lake much.

im about 5'6 and i had to look around to see everything.

so short people, i really dont suggest you try or head there early for a front view.

It's really cool that you go a glimpse of this. I have little doubt that the show will be great. I have been wonderng about how the preshow entertainment will be. Really awesome.

It's great to hear news pouring in as we get down to the real showings of WoC!

:jumping1:

So, are you saying we are toast if we are short -- won't matter because we won't see half of it? Or are you saying most of the stuff to see is high enough that in a sea of people we will be able to look up and see it?

the water screen isnt as big as i thought it was, so i saw partial. i still can see it. But the biggest thing i couldnt see was the lake itself. They do some pretty crazy things with the lake as well and that you would have to like look around to see things.

My friend is like 5'2 and she was like, i cant see! we were about 4 rows of people in front of us. :\ but like you can like tilt your head and see a piece of it. Still worth the show because the show is awesome...

About how many rows of people fit on each terrace? Were there many rows behind you? It soulds like the FP tickets are pretty specific as to which terrace you are to report to. I also read Heather mention on the Disney Blog that while the entire park was wheelchair friendly, CMs would make sure wheelchairs had an unobstructed view. It would be nice if kids were also allowed the same access although I am sure that is wishful thinking on my part. It would be so hard to moderate that.

Also, was the CM viewing a full house meaning were there about 4,000 people there?

So it sounds like young children will absolutely not be able to see? :sad2:

Yep, this is my biggest concern. I'm only 5'2, and my daughter's too old for me to try to piggyback her to watch even if I were taller. I'm going to be really irritated if we still can't see very much in the preferred section after waiting and waiting.....

I know! With really small kids holding them isn't a big deal but I have a 4' 2" seven year old that weighs 55 pounds. It sounds like we may have to hold her and that would not be fun.

Albort, how close was everyone standing to each other? Was it shoulder to shoulder? Was there any space between the rows?

I hear you guys on that. No kids here but I don't think I can hold my GF up for a half hour.

Small children outnumber the adults in our family, 3 to 2, so no holding is possible here! Bummer......

Do you have a dining package, or are you just planning on waiting somewhere?

I'm 5'2" and getting nervous. I'm sensing the need for a new product- The World of Color Pariscope! :rotfl2:

I updated the OP with several new links you may want to check. MousePlanet and MiceChat have some cool updates today that talk about Glow Fest (a lot), Carnivale of Color (a little) and the theming additions being added around DCA to promote WOC.

Don't forget about the coverage that The DIS Unplugged will be providing later this week.
