Mostly I wanted to bump this thread up, so we don't have a new WoC thread starting each day.
I still don't know that TSMM will remain open. I understand the logic that it is indoors, I also understand that it is being updated for summer so why would it be partially closed each day?
But I still think that to operate it there will need to be lighting in the que area which is outside. There will also need to be lighting from the attraction to have access off of paradise pier.
While this may seem minor projection screens work because they are dark on one side. The TSMM and shorter pier area being lit would be in the area that is behind the view of almost half the paradise park viewers.
It just seems errant to try to make a show perfect and then purposely allow in small flaws.
The changes to TSMM are being classed as "Summer Nighttastic." So I think it's likely that it will be open during WoC.

That said, the Summer Nighttastic page has a section for something like "Days and Nights of Fun" as well (and that page has a drawing of Tinkerbell in her Electrical Parade float!). So the website isn't perfect. Plus, last year Disney promised a new dragon for Fantasmic that didn't materialize for their promotions, so TSMM's hours may be something we didn't expect either.
As for allowing some small flaws into the show, my opinion is, with record crowds and, it appears, a smaller-than-projected viewing area, it would probably spark slews of complaints, and perhaps even some dangerous crowd-control situations, if they were to forbid people from watching the show from the "wrong" side of the lagoon. If they do not forbid people from watching the show from that side, then they'll need to have some amount of lighting, and if that is the case, then they might as well run TSMM as well.
If they DO literally close the area down, then it would be a better physical show for the 6,000 who are in the viewing area (or perhaps just the 2,500 estimated to have really good views). I'm not sure how "bad" the show looks from the "wrong" side. I believe Disney is worried about people seeing the show the "wrong" way and then reporting back that it's not very good, creating bad buzz. But I'm sure they're also worried about how in the world you deal with putting on such a limited-capacity show. Imagine a family who flew out to see the show, tried for 4 nights, and still couldn't even catch a glimpse of it! I'd be madder about that than if I waited for an hour or two to see the show from a poor location and the show turned out to be less than impressive.
And Disney is probably also worried about having a park with a huge number of its attractions closed (including two attractions that you see in much of their merchandise, California Screamin' and the Fun Wheel) from 8 PM on. Keeping TSMM open will at least provide one more thing to see.
When things aren't going as planned (like a seating area with a capacity only 2/3 of what was projected), I think sometimes compromises may be the best way to deal with the problem.
