World of Color Premier Video

I kind of agree that on video it looks like a bunch of random film clips projected on mist droplets. Vegas fountains meets Disney video. Nice but not ground breaking. However, I understand how the video does not do the scope or scale of the show justice. I'm sure it's much more impressive in person.

Did I imagine the Incredibles? Once again Disney leaves it out. Mr. Incredible gets no love from Disney Parks.:confused3

I just watched the entire show. I don't understand how anyone could watch this show, even online, and say that it isn't short of amazing. I thought it was absolutely incredible! The way they syncronized everything, the fire effects and lighting, etc. were all just wonderful. I am very, very excited to see this in August! :thumbsup2

I think a lot of Disney fans need to remember that with anything new like WoC we are highly critical at first. We have very high expectations of keeping things to the original Disney brand. As a result, sometimes we get a bit hypersensitive to Pixar being included. I think we all need to remember that Disney and Pixar work hand-in-hand now and these characters ARE Disney, too. I thought the show did a great job using both traditional handdrawn characters and Pixar ones.

However, I do have two issues with WoC. The first is that I think the entire Lion King/Mufasa death scene was 100% unnecessary. While I realize that not everything has to be happy-go-lucky all of the time, I just felt it was a bit much for this type of show. It was not managed well either. They showed a lot of that particular death scene and then continued the saddness by including images of Simba with his parents before Mufasa's death (as well as others with their parents). It didn't heighten the bond and relationship between parents and their children like I think they were aiming for. Instead, the entire scene was a put off for me.

I also think that this show should have been put into a separate venue like Fantasmic at WDW. It should have seating and the horrific amount of machinery should not be in view all of the time like it is right now. I think having all of that laying out there really wreaks havoch on the asthetics at DLR. The fact that they could not have seating and, instead, people have to figure out a way to get there to see it is ridiculous. You can't even scope a spot like you do for everything else at Disney (i.e. parades, fireworks, etc.). If DLR could not afford the space needed for such a venue due to size, I believe that WoC should have built in WDW where there's more space. Of course, that would only negate the fact that they are trying to bring more people into DLR with this attraction.

Just my two cents.

Having not seen this other than the video posted....

It reminds me a bit of Fantasmic, the fountains at the Bellagio and Liberace's old show with the dancing fountains.

I might have a different opinion after seeing it in person.

There is no way to bottle the magic of a show like this in 720 lines on a screen. To see the Genie in this bottle you must see it in person.

(Plus everything is better at Disney)

I remember seeing the Bellagio fountains for the first time in person. It was amazing. The sounds, the smells, the mist, the backdrop of the Strip. It was amazing and nothing like watching it on TV or in the movies.

I totally agree with both these points, I was thinking the exact same things.
I suppose the stampeding wildebeasts from Lion King make a cool projection, but I agree the death scene wasn't necessary.

And I don't know a thing about DLR but it does seems weird to put that show somewhere where there is no seating? A 25 minute show? And everyone is standing so kids can't see unless you hold them up? Doesn't seem very guest friendly IMHO. :confused3

Pretty much standard operating procedure for DLR, unfortunately. People still come in huge numbers for a similar situation at Fantasmic here, so they see no reason to improve the experience I suppose. In fairness, space is pretty tight...

To me, one of the most impressive aspects of this show (having only seen it online) was the music. I would just listen to the soundtrack, even if there were no visuals to go with it!

It really does look amazing - even online. But I love that laser/light/water kind of show. I'm really hoping we get to see it next year (even with my thoughts below). ;)

I watched the link first then came back to this thread. Half way through the video I emailed DH with the link and said he absolutely had to watch it. Then they got the to Lion King scene...I emailed DH again and told him that scene almost ruined the whole thing for me. Totally agree with you about that scene. I think they could have found other villans to use without that scene.
