Now I'm SOOO confused. Do you think the reserved area is the same as for the premium dining? If so, I may change our premium dining to one of these picnic boxes. So much cheaper!

I guess I'll have to call Disney Dining tomorrow after I get some sleep.

This is getting way to be way too much. It probably will be a total mess for a week and then the kinks will get worked out (hopefully!)

and the bit about picking it up as early as 2, might help in the dreaded "you're not guaranteed" a ticket lol. Pay get your ticket, eat and go have some fun then come back later to stand in line

The link refers to the picnic option as having "reserved viewing", while AG and WCT diners receive "preferred reserved viewing." That implies to me that they are different areas, the "preferred" area being better.

Interesting; I'd assumed they'd be the same, but you very well could be right about the implications. It would help explain the drastic price difference and relative "bargain" price for the picnic meals.

The same-day reservations for the second show means that in theory I COULD get one on Saturday, but I'm probably not planning to, since there's at least one picky eater in my party.

I'll be interested to hear more about this picnic option too. The price is reasonable and the food sounds no less unappealing than the AG and Wine restaurant menus. If we can pick the "picnic" up early, we could walk over to the tables near the tortilla factory and eat it there (and buy some food to go along with it if need be LOL) and have our tickets to WoC in hand.

Thanks for sharing! These picnic boxes don't sound too bad! Hmm....decisions decisions...like other posters have said, I'm also curious to see how this all pans out. I may wait a bit further on in the summer until I've read some reviews before I partake in the WOC madness/festivities.

wow...that's really a bargain to know you have a spot, nice little boost to the F&B folks too . I'm sure I'd do the sit down dining thing for the most part, but this picnic lunch meal could be done every time with no real hit on the budget..pretty much a regular meal cost. (of course if you have a big family, it could really add up..and the kid's meals kind of really suck considering you pay the same price.)

I have to say I'm surprised. I thought any picnic deal would include a folding chair at WOC and about a $150 price tag. I'm wondering also what the difference is between the reserved space for the picnic and the dinners, if any. The meals don't appeal to me that much. I'm still going to try for the Ariels Grotto package today but it is nice to know there may be a fall back if need be.

So, looking at the link today--it has more info than last night, so if you looked at it last night you should look again.

It appears that starting June 11, you can order these online. I'll definitely be doing that for one of the shows, but I'm still very curious as to whether all of the viewing areas for the different options will be created equal.

I just really wish they'd come out with more information on the actual "viewing areas" as well as the dining options...
I cannot stand still for long periods and getting down on the ground isn't really a viable option either since getting back up almost requires a miracle...
I'm not wheelchair-bound by any means, but with severe arthritis and having already had one hip replacement back in my 40s - I'm more than willing to pay for the "preferred" packages as long as it includes a chair of some kind... :-(
We have the "ticket" reservations at Trattoria and I'm truly hoping that includes actual seating and not just a long stand at a railing somewhere.

Just curious if anyone knows if you can use disney dining vouchers for the meals? It seems like you would be able to sure a $15.00 voucher for a $14.99 meal...unless there is some restriction I haven't heard of yet.

Thanks for posting this... I think we'll just stick with WCT in October... only about 1/2 of each meal is appealing to me in the picnic trays, which seems like a waste... so glad to let you all hash this out over the summer for me!

I posted this on another thread but I have a feeling the dinner ressies will be allowed in first to enter the "reserved" section then the picnic folks can fill in after that. I think that is why the price tag is so cheap. Would explain the "preferred" wording which is the same wording used for Aladdin which allows you to enter before everyone else.

I wouldn't count on it. The F! seating is more expensive, and very limited in the number of chairs. They are taking a lot of dining reservations (2000 if we beleive Al Lutz) - there's no where for 2000 chairs.

I'd be very happy with standing at a railing because what I'm picturing is standing in a sea of 2000 people with a short self and even shorter child who's able to see absolutely nothing! I'll pay $60+ dollars to eat and then stand and look at the back of people's heads.
