World of Color Dining Packages Announced

Okay, trying to help here.

First: Standing only. With the obvious exception of the elderly or those with special needs due to physical issues, this really is not a huge deal. Honest. I don't know if you have ever watched the fireworks or Fantasmic! at Disneyland, but probably 95% of all viewing for fireworks is standing only. At Fantasmic!, with the exception of the seating area and the "dessert premium package area" everything else is standing room only.

I don't know how long the show is, but it really isn't that different from any of the other evening entertainment.

As for a long line at Guest Services, I hope it's with comments about how amazing the new show was!

Lastly, I think Disney has done new shows and evening entertainment a "few" times between all the different Parks. They tend to have an idea of how to do this and put a LOT of work and thought into making it flow well. I think they plan out logistics to the Nth degree in more detail than anyone would ever want to think about. JMO

I share your sentiments. Of course there are some people who cannot stand for long periods and those people will have trouble with this arrangement. We have done it for Fantasmic at DL, and RDCT and DEP at DLR. We have also done it for Illuminations at Epcot. Yes, all of those do have alternatives for those who can wait longer or pay extra. WOC is different. I suspect they will set something up for those who cannot stand. Maybe not initially but eventually they will have to.

100% agree. There are places at Fantasmic! for those with accessibility needs, wheelchairs and ECVs are permitted in the street on Main Street at fireworks. I am sure Disney will accommodate those with accessibility needs at WoC. They have boats that you can put a wheelchair on at "it's a small world," after all. :goodvibes

i saw something about the west end of the pavilion having ramps and other items for accessibility. I think it was in the official press release or the MiceChat posting that Lutz put together about the plaza design.

I'm kind of confused here...so why should I pay $40 for AG or WCT if I can get reserved viewing for $15 with the picnic alternative? I mean other than the better food...is the reserved area different?

According to what I have read, the dinner packages include a "preferred, reserved place" which is said to be an unobstructed view of the show. While the lunch packs include a reserved place, but not in the preferred or unobstructed areas. They may be about the same but behind the preferred section or off to the side.

I will know next Friday!... firsthand.

Yes, please let us know :goodvibes We'll be there June 17th, so hopefully things get worked out before then!

I don't know, but another theory could be that the picnic lunch pack provides you with the Showpass Fastpass (or whatever it's called) in the same sections that others can obtain at park opening, but the advantage with the picnic lunch is that you don't have to be at the park early (with everyone in your group). Given that the picnic pack price is pretty low and not really much over what would be the regular meal cost, this seems reasonable to me, but what do I know - not much really! :confused3

Will you be posting Friday night or Saturday AM? We have to leave our house at 9am for the airport on Saturday and would like to know how it goes. We have a reservation Sunday at 7:40pm.

I am a little freaked out about the standing and if it is all flat, or a little theater like. I am afraid my 5 year old won't be able to see and don't want to offend by putting her on my shoulders. I wonder if people would let kids scoot up front with their parents if the parents promises to squat down or something. I will get in the preferred line early if I have to, so very curious about the set up.

I'm really hoping they do not allow the kids on the shoulders thing. I've seen them tell parents to take the kids off their shoulders in the F! sardine standing areas and I hope they are able to do the same here. I know it stinks when you have kids, as I do too. If I hold her piggy back style she is as tall as me, but not blocking people behind her more than any normal height person. I'm going to be pretty unhappy if I spend $80 to eat and get my ticket, but am only able to view the backsides of dozens of children sitting on shoulders.

Thanks for the piggy back style idea. We will do that. I would never put her on our shoulders. I think that is rude to block others. We just might have to get in line early in hopes of being up front.

oohh ok parents i'm sorry but please respect the small/short people behind you when you put your kids on your shoulders.. piggy back is fine! but shoulders not soo much .. i have had soo many times when waiting for 1 hour or mor for fireworks, and the kid and a parent be in front of me, and then as soon as the fireworks starts up goes the kid om the shoulders--and me well i got to see the back of that kid for the whole show, i saw some fireworks, but not alot, i am 5 foot nothing..adn i can';t stand the shoulders sitting for kids thing!!!

I agree with the shoulders thing, as well as the dumb video cameras. The bright screen held up high in front if people is beyond annoying.

Does anyone have an idea of the:

preferred
reserved
blue
red
etc...
areas are?:confused3:confused3

Go DIsney!
and thank you for all the info my Disney family!!!:goodvibes

These have not been clearly defined by Disney yet. There are sections within the reserved area, based on color, but it is not known what is "best" or whatnot. You aren't confused. It's information that's not available yet. :goodvibes

Agreed! I want to watch fireworks, not your LED screen recording the fireworks.

I do video taping with my video camera on F!, fireworks, and parades. But people do that all the time and bring there cameras or video cameras way above there shoulders or even over there heads while other people watch the events and gets frustrating because of those LED screen. I'm just hoping when I go see WoC, I won't have to put my camera way above my head during the show.

What would be a good time for my dinner reservations? I have 6 now but I am worried that will be too late to line up, even with the preferred seating
