Anyone have any ideas what would be simple and cheap to dress up as for world book day for a primary school teacher. I dont want to spend alot of money (non at all if possible!). Our only theme is it has to be a fictional book character my only idea so far is a vampire from Twilight as thats pretty easy to do!

Popular ones at our school have been Professor McGonagill (sp?) from Harry Potter, so easy - just need a toy cat and a witches costume.

Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz (old dress, red shoes lots of painted on freckles)

Horrid Henry or Moody Margaret (complete with torn clothes crumpled socks and a peashooter!!)

Little Red Riding hood in KS1 and foundation stage. Red cape and basket.

Peter Rabbit? Bunny ears (cheap from claires), brown tshirt and trousers (if you have some) and a blue cardigan. (And a ball of wool to attach to your bum if you want).

Have you got a TA you could do a 'double' with? You could ham it up as the 2 Ugly Sisters! One of our teachers (who wears a Muslim headscarf) was the Wicked Queen to her TA's Snow White.

You don't happen to be heavily pregnant? One of the most effective costumes I saw was a very pregnant teacher who wore a blue jumper, wrapped bandages round it and went went as Mr Bump.

It is possible to get cheap skeleton costumes, from Funny Bones.

that's awesome! Actually going as any Mr Men or Little Miss character would be pretty awesome and pretty easy.

Ha ha love the ideas thanks! the Bump one is great but that wont be me for a long time!! Im going to text my ta now see what she thinks of the ugly step sisters I know the kids would love that! Failing that Im sure Ill find some things around the house to do one of the other ideas thanks all!
