Working on Weight Loss and getting Lean!

Good morning ladies. Weigh in day!!!!!!!

I am officially down 0.6 pounds, which isn't much, but is still a loss.
So, I am at 8 points. I got a point for everything except the new food. I went to the store to buy a new produce, and couldn't find anything of interest. I managed new recipe (Sezchuan tofu stir fry), cardio, shoulder presses, water, veggies, dairy, weight loss and temptation (hated not having my creamer).

New exercise this week is push ups. Vicky, since you've already been doing them, you will need to make yours harder! ;)

I will catch up with posts later. Need to get Harrison to school early today.

Good morning!

No change on the scale (darn it!): 182lbs

Points:
exercise: 1
water: 1
fruit/veggies: 1
dairy: 1
new recipe: 1 (actually did 3!)
new food: 1 (roasted butternut squash; it was good but a pain to cut!)
temptation: 1 (one plate of food at dinner)
weekly challenge: 0
weight loss: 0

Total points: 7

I will keep plugging along, and hope for a loss next week!

Beth

A quickie for now, before coming back later...

Loss: .5 pounds (bah and humbug, the scale's been fluctuating up and down for a couple of days, and this is a high day)

Points
exercise: 1
water: 1
fruit/veggies: 1
dairy: 1
new recipe: 1 (couscous with roasted veggies; still not a huge fan of couscous)
new food: 1 (prune/walnut snackage)
temptation: 1 (no late meals)
weekly challenge: 0 (although my shoulder is back to 90% normal as of yesterday - good for push-ups this week, as I need to strengthen my arms shoulders)

Total points: 7

See you this afternoon or tomorrow!

Debra: Actually, that's 8 points because you get a point for losing weight.
Half a pound is still better than up right?

Beth: Sorry there was no loss, but I bet you'll have a good one next week. You have to remember that you had a really good loss last week. Keep it up!:thumbsup2

Vicky: I bet you kick some booty with the boxing. Sounds fun. And, as far as the ex goes, no, we aren't sick of it yet. I just want you to do what's right for you. He seemed like a nice guy in January, but if he's toxic, he needs to go. If he offers you something good, keep him around. I'm just so much help, aren't I?

AFM: I had a fantastic day yesterday with eating. It was weigh in day at zumba for the 12 week challenge, so I knew it was going to be time to get it together. I paid my money and got my body fat measured. I was shocked and po'ed! 29.1!!!!!! I work out all the time, and I just don't understand. I know the number isn't horrible, but I feel like it's all for nothing sometimes. So, I am going to challenge myself to start eating clean this week. I need to shave off the body fat. My weight really isn't bad for my height, I just need to find all those muscles I work on all the time! They are giving cash prizes for weight loss, body fat loss, bp lowering, etc... and I think the only thing I could win would be body fat loss.

On another sad note, I hurt my ankle again. Same thing as last year. Flexor or extendor tendon on the inside of my ankle. I think it's being on the TM all the time. I haven't ever hurt it running outside. So, I have to take it easy this week, and then, hopefully, it will warm up and I can get outside.

Oh, and before I forget, next week will be a clean eating challenge. So, if you need to get prepared for that, please do that this week. It's worth 2 points since it's so hard to do. 4-6 days of eating clean will earn you 1 point. All 7 days will earn you 2 points! So, let's all give it a shot next week!!!!:thumbsup2

Tandy: Can you define the clean eating? I use the term, but I am afraid it means different things than you might mean!

Beth

Basically, no processed foods. But, I understand that it's next to impossible to make that happen. So, maybe we should just focus on as little processed foods as possible. For instance, I'm switching my flavored, powdered creamer to half and half. I try to follow Tosca Reno's plan as closely as possible, but can't completely make it.
What does it mean to you?:)

I guess basically the same. I don't use boxed/bagged food much anymore. Make my own 'mixes' like my own taco seasoning, chicken noodles, chicken rice (stuff like that instead of using Rice-a-roni, etc). I try to watch the salt (for a husband who will face cardiac issue eventually) so making my own stuff is easier (and cheaper).

I can't quite quit eating a 'treat' now and then though.....the latest being the chocolately/pretzel bar from Special K. I have been having one a day! (It's only 2 points on WW!) So if I need to skip that, I guess I can try!

We do use pasta (does that count as processed?) though I do use Dreamfields which is high fiber/low carb.

Beth

Sorry for the late check-in post......I've been on the run all day.

I hate these Tuesday weigh-ins.....not enough time to undo my weekend transgressions. My weight today is 204.4 which is a loss of .9 for the week but a gain since Friday....grrrrrr. The slow loss is frustrating because I am really working hard. Even my little slip-ups are minor compared to my previous lifestyle. I suppose as long as the scale is going down, it's all good.....I'm just a little impatient. Put me down for 7.5 points. I didn't get to try a new food and only got .5 for the water. Everything else was OK.

Question about the push-ups.....how many must we do? I can barely manage 5 and those are the modified ones at that.

Hope everyone is doing alright.....enjoy the rest of your evening.

Sorry I didn't get on here yesterday. A real LTO day.

Down 0.2 for the week. I'll take it.

Pts: 4 whopping points this week (wt loss, fruits/veggies, exercise and dairy)

Have a great day everyone.
Cindy

Beth: I would think we could eat pasta. I have no intention of making my own, but may check out some different varieties.

Jeanne: A loss is a loss is a loss! :thumbsup2 I left the # of pushups off on purpose. I know that for some of us, 5 will be hard, while for others of us (Vicky) 50 is their magic #. So, as long as you do them 4 days and put in maximum effort, it's good!

Cindy: Like Jeanne and myself, at least it's a loss! :thumbsup2

I'm still needing a check in from a few of you!!!!;)

AFM: I am sooo tempted to go out for a little tiny run today. I think I'll take the dog out for a long walk and mix in some running intervals. If my ankle is hurting, I'll just walk. I have to run with Harrison on Saturday, so that's the most important thing right now.
I completely messed my stomach up yesterday. I don't know what I was thinking. I ate 3 Fiber Plus bars over the course of the day (already ruined my temptation for the week). Well, let's just say I was in a lot of pain! :rotfl:
I hope today will be a better day. At least all those stupid bars are gone! ;) I have zumba tonight and think I have a friend talked into giving it another shot. She came about 6 months ago and said she had fun but felt very uncoordinated. I hope she'll try it.

Have a lovely day ladies.

Hi leanies! Just a quick check in for me today and then I promise to catch up with everyone in a bit. We're moving floors at work so everything is a bit chaotic - lots of packing, lifting and organizing etc. It doesn't leave much time for posting.

Anyway here are my points for the week. No weight loss but not a surprise to me because I've been eating out at lunch (every day) and went on a bit of a bender on my cheat day. Hopefully once we finish our move on Thursday, things will settle down.

Temptation - 0
Exercise - 1
Dairy - 1
Veggies - 1
Shoulder press - 1
Weight loss - 0

I'm going to keep journalling and keep my temptation to no eating after 8PM and getting 8 hours of sleep. I'm getting to the 8 hours but still always find someway of keeping myself out of bed.

Tandy - I wish my magic number was 100. I can't seem to move much past 50 pushups for whatever reason. For the challenge, I'll do my pushups with a set of 5 pound weights and do a row on each side. I'll give try to get 10-12 done (5-6/side).

Have a great day everyone! :wave2:

Do I have to post if last week was a total bust? :rotfl:

Not a good one for me in so many ways, but I guess I've avoided posting as long as I can. I did run 3M the last 3 days in a row and I'm counting my points, so at least I'm rebounding...

Points
exercise: 0
water: 1
fruit/veggies: 1
dairy: 1
new recipe: 1 (filet mignon with a sauce -- can't remember the exact name, it's in the WW Take 5 recipe book)
new food: 1 (Cheez-its Asiago flavor)
temptation: 0
weekly challenge: 0
weight loss: 0

Total: 5

I actually had a gain, I am ashamed to say how much. I am working diligently to get back to where I was...

Our computers were in the shop from Wed. - yesterday, so I haven't been online much, just a bit at work. I know I need to catch up -- hopefully soon! DS has a ton of projects due this week for 2 Open Houses (one for prospective parents last night, one for current parents tomorrow night), so between that and Dennis's running schedule (he did a 20M 3-state race Sunday), I just feel worn out. He is running or doing weights almost every day, so I'm doing most of the parenting, errands, etc.

Sorry for the "all about me" post...

Maria :upsidedow

Maria - I could copy your post almost word for word. Well, except for the family part... :rotfl:

So... I don't recommend dropping out of the challenge as a good way to continue losing weight. I'm now higher than I was when we started. I'm trying very hard to re-focus, but I'm only halfway succeeding. When I ran outside last week, I really, really, hurt my hip, and I've been scared to run (or walk) since. I was going to attempt the TM last night, but DH wanted Five Guys for dinner (not exactly on my meal plan), and we didn't get home until I was too tired to care anymore. Tonight, I promise. So a week of no activity has not been good.

On the plus side, I made Vicky's ginger shrimp Tuesday night - yum! So if I WERE counting points, I have a new recipe this week. I used brown rice instead of the quinoa, simply because that's what I had already, but the idea was the same. On the minus side, my coworker brought in chocolate chip cookies this morning. :sad1:

Game plan for tonight - I'm posting it so I'll be accountable. 30 minutes + on the TM. Pushups. Remainder of my hip exercises.

Have a great day!

Jackie

Wanted to let you all know I hadn't forgotten about you - I'm in the midst of doing my taxes, which have gotten exponentially more complicated now that I'm trying to figure out deductions with the whole Disney Travel thing (first year for that aspect). DOOD and I are betting on an audit. :cool1: Gonna work through what we can - see if I understand the codes - and go from there. So today is one of those migraine-inducing numbers days for me. If it goes well, I'll post about it later today.

If it doesn't, you can hear about my extra-long workout session to burn off stress tomorrow. :lmao:

(And yeah, we've delayed on doing the taxes for far too long...)

Okay, first the good news:
Jeanne is our big winner, AGAIN! :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:
She beat my weight loss percentage by .01%!!!!!

Now, the bad news: We all seem to be struggling a bit. :guilty: I hope we can all kind of regroup and get the scales to move. :thumbsup2

Debra: I still haven't even started my taxes!:scared1: I'm with you , girl.

Jackie and Maria (since you're posts are close to the same): It was a bad week, but maybe the stress levels can go down this week and we can get it together!

Vicky: Moving, even to a new floor, can certainly be stressful. I can't believe you feel disappointed that you can only do 50 pushups!:lmao: You crack me up!

AFM: Got outside yesterday!!!!:woohoo: I hate running on my TM, so it's always nice when the weather cooperates. I walked 5 miles, but probably ran 1 or 2 of those off and on. The ankle wasn't really hurting last night, so I guess it's ok to push things. Zumba was really fun last night. My friend joined me. She was REALLY awkward at first, but got it together for the 2nd half. :thumbsup2 If you don't have an understanding of the basic latin dance moves, it can be intimidating.

I ate really well yesterday. Didn't overeat and didn't eat anything I shouldn't. I saw the scale move this morning!!!!!! I've been within the same pound range for awhile now, so I really need a loss next Tuesday.

I hope you all have a wonderful day.

So I had no weight loss Tuesday, but surprisingly enough I had a loss at WW weigh-in!! I am really happy, since the darn scale wasn't moving all week! I ended up with 1.4 pounds down today! :cool1::cool1: That puts me at about 22 pounds for 11 weeks (still averaging 2 pounds a week!). I loss over 5 pounds for the last 3 weeks, which is awesome for me. It was a nice surprise for me before my 2nd epidural shot today.

Shot went ok, but I certainly felt it more than the first one. I am having more discomfort this time, but I think that is good. Last time I was still numb for the nerve involvement, so maybe things are better now. That is what I am going with right now.....

Maria: I totally know how you feel, but you have to remember all the success you have had the last few weeks/months. You need to stop and remember, it isn't going to be a fast way to lose, but lose you will. We all have those LTO moments, but it is part of the learning process. Next time, you will remember how it goes and maybe be more mentally prepared for it. Ebbs and flows.......don't quit. You would be very mad at yourself.....cause I have been there and done that. I ended up disgusted with myself, and still have moments that i still am. Trust me, move forward not backward. You are WAY stronger than you used to be, remember that.

Do not stop posting......no body understands the process better than us!

Jackie: See above Maria post......and ditto to you!

I can honestly say that all my present issues are teaching me valuable lessons. Weight loss can come even when we are sidelined......I have become more tolerant with only working out a few times a week...and grateful for those days.

Beth

Yikes! If I am the biggest loser with my piddly drop, then we have ALL had a bad week.:scared1::scared1: I've been battling my own demons for the past several days now. It seems that for every temptation I am able to resist, there are 3 more I succumb to.......not good at all. I think the fact that I have decided to not attend my 40th high school reunion (blame Facebook), has eased some of the pressure to lose weight. Arrrrggggghhhhh.

Debra: I feel your pain......one of my children, who shall remain nameless, is an independent contractor and he proceeded to give me 22 different W-2s and 1099s without any receipts to support his expenses. So now we're in the process of trying to reconstruct things via credit card and bank statements. Trust me, next year he gets a tutorial from Mom and that's it.

That's it for today. Off to do my push-ups, crunches and then go to bed....

Good night all!

Good morning ladies. I'm feeling very good today after finally running!!!!!

Jeanne: Yes, I think it was all around a bad week. But, you still won. Even though your loss wasn't much, you are keeping up with the points. I don't even have your son's excuse, I'm just being lazy about those taxes. ;)

Beth: You are kicking some serious booty!!! WTG! I hope the shot works out okay. These things make me nervous.

Jackie: Yes, keep posting!!!

Vicky and Cindy: I think I'm 99% sure I'm doing the Warrior Dash. Just need to make sure Frank is ok with it tonight, and I'm signing up tomorrow. I have 3 definite yesses from friends and am waiting to hear from a few more. Vicky, you are still welcome to join me, just don't know if you want to travel for that long to run 3.1 miles through the mud. But, I have a guest room. :)

AFM: I ran 3 yesterday with no pain. I have 6 scheduled today, but don't know if I'm going to find the time or not. I am hosting a dinner party tonight for 8 people, and trying to get everything done. But, I am trying 2 new recipes tonight. :thumbsup2 One is a linguine with greek yogurt and parm, and the other is just tomatoes, zucchini and onions cooked with some fresh herbs. If they turn out, I'll post the recipes. They both look super easy, which is always good for me and they are low cal!

I hope you all have a wonderful day!!!!!

Good Morning, Lovely Lean Ones!

Tandy -- Thank you for keeping the Challenge going, I definitely need it right now! I am so glad it looks like the Warrior Dash is a go, I think you will have a great time! So glad you were able to run, and hoping your dinner party is a fantastic success! :thumbsup2

Jeanne -- Hey, you won, fair and square! Take and run with it! Although I have to admit, you are now scaring me. I assumed that once we launched the little chickie from the nest it would be easier to parent. Sounds like not so much  On the bright side, at least he worked and supported himself. I think I'd take that as a victory! ;)

Beth -- Thank you for the fabulous advice, and the kick in the pants. I needed both! ::yes:: You are right, one week of setback is no reason to quit. I think I'll actually have a small gain tomorrow morning, but I know I'm now back on the right track, and a loss is just around the riverbend :song: Congratulations on your fantastic success, you are totally :rockband: the WW, even with your injury! By the way, do you do the Hershey Half? My PA geography is non-existent, so I don't know if that would be easy for you or not...:confused3

Jackie -- We are going to drag ourselves kicking and screaming back to the Force :yoda:, and step away from the Dark Side :darth:. I know we can do it! I'll keep posting if you will  I hope your hip is feeling better.

Debra -- I am so happy Dennis does our taxes :flower3: I think I would have pulled out all my hair by now. Did you decide about taking on the additional writing job? Is is sad that I am pathetically excited SyFy is going to have 3 Christmas specials this year -- Eureka, Warehouse 13 and Haven? :yay:

Vicky -- I hope things have settled down since the move is completed? It is hard to stick to your scheduled eating when everything around you is not on your schedule! I'm sure you have a fun weekend planned, you definitely deserve it! :goodvibes

Cindy -- Are you enjoying the rain, or did you get snow? We had a couple of inches when we got up, but now it's just :umbrella: Glad I'm not trying to train for a marathon :rotfl: Actually, Dennis likes to run in the rain. :confused3

So, I didn't run today or yesterday and I probably won't tomorrow. On the bright side, I am eating well. I'm going to put it all together Sunday.

We have a lot of errands to run tomorrow, so at least I'll be busy and in motion most of the day.

Oh! And in a NSV, 4 G.S. Thin Mint cookies = 4 WW points plus -- and I've actually been managing to eat only 4 at a time. Not every day, and not more than once a day when I do -- takes a lot longer to get through a package that way! :rotfl: Nemesis -- I see you and I triumph! :rotfl2:

Maria :upsidedow
