Working on Weight Loss and getting Lean!

Good morning ladies. I have a loss of 1.4 pounds!!!!
1 point for exercise
1 point for squats
1 point for water
1 point for dairy
.5 pts for veggies
1 pt for new recipe (vegetarian chili)
1 pt for weight loss
didn't try a new food
can't even remember my temptation this week, but am sure I failed that one
So, 6.5 points this week.

Everyone is doing great. Jackie, it's understandable why your week was bad, so don't worry. You'll be able to make up for it next week. :thumbsup2

This week's exercise challenge needs to be upper body, because so many of us are having lower body aches and pains. I'm thinking triceps. So, how about 20 tricep extensions on each arm, 4 days this week?

Oh, and my temptation this week is going to be peanut butter. It's not bad in moderation, but I'm eating too much of it, so I'm having none this week.

Good Morning, Leanies!

Tandy -- My triceps will thank you, they have been sorely neglected  I think Whoopie Pies might be a northeastern thing? I had never heard of them in MO, but my dh from NH knows all about them and in great detail :rolleyes1 Ben is going to Sports and Games Camp Aug. 7 - 13, and Night Camp Aug. 14-20. That's right, we have to pick him up at 10am on the 13th, and have him back there by 4pm Aug. 14th. Ugh. I'll just do his :laundy: and send him back. These were the two camps he really wanted to do, so we agreed to make it work. Night Camp is when they stay up very late and sleep into the day. I think he's going to really enjoy that one...He's also going to be gone July 17-23 for UM Army -- doing simple home repairs/yard work in CT with our church for people who are not able. He agreed to go to that, but I don't think he's very excited :rotfl: So, the keratin hair treatment is supposed to be less often as you go along. I had the first one last May, then again in Sept., and now in March. I pushed this one out too far, because of the Princess and not wanting to do it around there. I think I will need the next one in July or August, probably the weekend after I do Providence to make things work. Cosmosphere camp sounds like a ton of fun! And Congrats on the family weigh in -- so glad that is working wonderfully for Harrison! :yay:

Cindy -- I agree with the difficulty finding new, healthy foods. I probably shouldn't be so picky :rotfl: That is an awesome loss at your weight, I hope you are proud! ::yes::

Jackie -- Lucky boss! I can find plenty to do in DTD...I watched AMC faithfully until Erica kidnapped Maria's baby and claimed she was a Russian adoptee. I don't know why, but that just totally turned me against it. There are rumors that one of the abc soaps is on the chopping block. I think it must be either AMC or OLTL -- and OLTL is more vulnerable since it's all by itself in NYC, and the costs must be higher. I know what you mean about working...I'm getting to it! ;)

Beth -- I agree, I'd rather be at work and around people than at home with my pantry, at least for the long term! You did a great job this week considering all you had going on -- actually, I think everyone did! :cheer2:

 to Debra, Vicky, and Kim!

Ok, enough chatting I guess I'd better report. This week's weight is 186.6, so down 3.4! Definitely going to pay for that with a low number or small gain next week, but as long as I keep losing overall, I'm good.

1 point for exercise
.5 point for squats
1 point for water
1 point for dairy
1 for fruit/veggies
1 pt for new recipe (gazpacho pasta salad)
1 pt for weight loss
1 pt for a new food (fresh cilantro in the pasta salad)
1 pt for temptation -- no ice cream for me!

So, 8.5 points this week -- please feel free to correct me if I did something wrong (I realize perhaps we aren't supposed to count an herb as a new food)!

Oh! And has anyone seen the registration for WDW Marathon weekend?! They have a new relay race, called the Chip 'n Dale -- it is a relay you run during the Full. One person runs from Epcot to MK and around to make 13.1, and the other person runs Epcot, AK and DHS for another 13.1. I really, really want to do this, but I don't see any way I'm going to convince Dennis it's a good idea for us. :sad1: They say there is very limited registration, so by the time I might be able to get him to come around, it will be full. If I agreed to give up Princess he would be ok, but not for both :sad2:

Maria :upsidedow

OMG....no time to read. Super quick post to check in for the week. I'll be hosting unexpected overnight house guests in under 3 hours and my house looks like "who done it and ran"!

Weight: 207.0 (pitiful, but it's a loss of o.2..... way too much partying this past weekend)

Points: 7.5 (partial credit for water, veggies and dairy....got the other 6)

Sorry...that's it.....be back tomorrow after midday.

Just a quick fly-by post today for me ... I haven't had a chance to weigh-in. I woke up late on Tuesday and Wednesday and didn't have a chance to step on the scale. I don't think I lost anyway since it's TOM... Point wise, I earned:

0.5 exercise
0.5 squat exercises
1 dairy
1 veggie
1 new recipe
1 water
1 new food
0.5 temptation (I ate birthday cake on a non cheat day)

So 5.5 points :) The water is definitely getting easier to drink now that it's warming up. I think my temptation for the week will be snacking at work and eating after 8PM.

Will try to check in tonight! Hope everyone's having a great day :wave2:

Hi guys!

Maria: We ended up not getting the shelter pigs....they actually let someone adopt ONE of them without the other. They were 1 year old, brothers, and bonded to one another.....that will not be a good situation for them.:sad1: They will have a hard time broken up like that. We did find one (well I did) at a small family pet store.....he was lonely, with another set of bonded boys who looked like they treated him badly.....I just had to help him! He is probably only a couple months old....and cute as a button. I got him so he could be Punky's friend....one of my pigs has been living alone, related to one of the others 'picking' on him.....he was getting upset with it, so I isolated him upstairs, leaving the other 2 downstairs. So we added on to the pen with an extention and will be connecting upstairs with the addition so they can interact. It's been tricky getting them used to each other, but last night seemed to be working out! The new one is a beautiful brown color, with big dark eyes, and named 'Buddy' (from the cake boss). I hope it all works out!!!

Tandy: Good job on the family weigh-in! It's nice when everyone sees success!

Vicky: Yeah, I find the water gets easier.....it's now one of my 'habits'!

AFM: I was glad to be down a pound yesterday....you never know how the scale will treat you!

My temptation this week will be (again) trying not to eat before bed (say after 8PM) That is one of the hardest things for me......I just seem to get hungry at 9PM!

Beth

Good Afternoon, Leanistas!

Beth -- I agree, I can't believe they broke up a bonded pair, that just seems cruel. So glad you did find a little guy to fit into your home -- and may I say it sounds like quite a swanky set up for the furry members of your family! :goodvibes And who doesn't love Buddy? I admit, I would also like to love his bakery, it's a good thing we are a long drive from NJ! :rotfl:

Vicky -- That is a great temptation, I think that will be mine for next week. I'm back eating ice cream, this week's temptation is chocolate candy for me...

:wave2: to everyone else!

So, tomorrow I can run again, so I'm going to burst back with 10M. It's really just convenience -- ds has the day off from school and Dennis and I are splitting the day. DS could stay home alone, but I know for a fact the twin girls next door will be home alone, and one of them has a HUGE crush on ds. I'd rather not borrow trouble...I can't believe how agressive young ladies are these days! My mother would have grounded me for life if I had been half as bold. These are all good kids, but...let's just say I think an adult home is not a bad idea.

I tried my new recipe for this week last night -- we had shrimp and scallops veracruz. It was pretty good, I can definitely see Dennis making it again. Plus, only 4 pts for WW, and very filling for a portion.

I'm going to have some fruit in a minute to fight the afternoon slump I feel coming on. Gotta find a juicy thread to read (probably involving an interfering MIL ) while I enjoy my juicy orange!

Maria :upsidedow

I just have to pop in to share...

I JUST RAN ON THE TREADMILL!!!!! :woohoo:

Saw the doctor this afternoon, and he said I was a "poster child for recovery." He's really impressed with the lack of pain I've had, and how well I'm doing overall. There's still some overall weakness in the hip region, but that's apparently to be expected. So he cleared me to "start ramping it up" (in his words) which I clarified to mean I can start running. In short, he said "if it hurts, don't do it."

So I came home, walked the dogs, changed clothes, and got on the TM. It's nice enough outside that I was tempted, but decided the surface might be easier for a first time. Did 1:00 walk/:30 run (well, light jog at a 4.7 pace) for 30 minutes, then walked the next 10. I felt like I could have done more, but really didn't want to wake up tomorrow and regret what I'd done.

Jackie

Well, I got the house cleaned and had a great, albeit short, time with our guests. Now I am dealing with the sheets/towels aftermath and am thoroughly exhausted. Another very quick post because I have 3 days of primetime TV tivo'd and I think I deserve some me time! I'm actually just checking in to see what the exercise of the week is and I am so glad it's upper body because I need that badly. I'm off to find where I put my weights since it's probably been a year since I've used them! Also SO glad to be done with the squats. It's funny, I didn't feel any pain UNTIL I tried to do them again.....YOWSA!!!!! I didn't get my 30 minutes in today but will make it up (and then some) tomorrow. SO it's arms, crunches (my own little daily discipline) whip up a quick healthy hot cocoa (Vicky's recipe, I think?) and just veg out......ahhhh, bliss!

Good night, leanies!

Lesson of the day: If you feel like a muscle cramp is coming on, it probably is. That means you should stop doing the exercise you're doing before you actually get a cramp... even if you're only two minutes from finishing

Jackie - Great news! You must be doing your rehab exercises! My PT use to say that he could tell which of his clients were committed to getting better :) Awesome!! I'm so happy for you :)

The chia seeds had no discernible taste to them. Of course they were mixed in with everything else so all I tasted was the apple, pears and cinnamon. You should be able to find chia seeds at Whole Foods or a natural foods store. I'm thinking they'll be in the cereal isle or beside the flax seeds. I was talking to a guy at the health food store about them and he said you don't have to grind them up like flax seed - you have them whole or ground.

Maria - LOL I guess the confidence thing can go both ways. It certainly has made some young ladies quite aggressive like you said. Good thing you're watching out for DS! And now that you mention sleep-away camp, I know what that is  I always wanted to go when I was younger but my parents never wanted to let me go. I think it had something to do with being a girl  Good luck on your 10 miler tomorrow! How's Dennis doing with the Boston training?

Beth - Congrats on the new addition! Any word on the MRI results?

Jeanne - Good luck with your guests! And I'll take your 0.2 lb loss :) Definitely better than a gain ...

Tandy - For some reason I read tricep dips, so that's what I've been doing LOL I'll switch it up at the gym! Congrats on your 1.4 lb loss! Fantastic :) Have you tried rice milk? I tried almond milk recently and didn't care for it. I still keep a carton of it handy because a lot of new recipes I'm trying call for a few tsps here and there. Your zoo sounds cool! Maybe I will have to make the trek for the Warrior Dash! So I'm thinking of going Goofy for 2012 ... which training plan did you use?

Cindy - Congrats on the loss! Yay! I saved your soup recipe and will give it a try in a couple of weeks! How's your training for Boston coming along? And I hear ya on the low cal foods. It's a challenge! Do you have Babybel cheese wheels in the US? The low fat versions are about 60 cal so I usually eat it as an afternoon snack along with a piece of fruit. Hummus goes really well with veggie sticks.

AFM - So weighed myself when I got home and of course it was up 1.3 lbs. But since I normally weigh in in the morning, who knows if that's accurate. I think this week I'm going to start food journalling because even though I'm not eating sugary foods, I'm eating A LOT of food. So I'm going to start by setting a cut off time for food at night. Nothing except for tea or my diet hot cocoa.

Oh and I had a great run on the TM tonight! I worked my way back up to running 5 minutes which is tough but manageable. I'm hoping to get out on the streets next week since the weather has been nice. Anyway, after I ran for about 25 minutes, I figured I'd do another 20 on the bike. My left calf felt a little twitchy but I figured I only had a couple of minutes left so what the heck, I'll finish. Nope. I got a huge cramp! :( I'm kind of glad none of the other trainers were in the gym ... actually it was just me so at least I didn't embarrass myself. So because I decided to push ahead with the two minutes, I'm probably out for cardio tomorrow :( Lesson learned. I'm going to put a heat pack on it after I get off the computer. I thought it was kind of strange because I never get cramps during exercise. My old PT thinks it's from a lack of sleep... he's probably right. I should add that to my weekly challenge - get 8 hours of sleep.

So I'm off to get a heat pack onto my calf and to get an early night.

Have a great night ladies! :wave2:

Good morning ladies. Happy St. Patty's day! Sorry I was MIA yesterday with results, but I was oiling my hardwood floors and never even looked at the computer.

I haven't heard from Kim or Debra, but, with the results I have so far, our big winner is MARIA! She had the highest % of weight loss (Cindy, you were super close), and she had the highest points with 9.5!!!!:cheer2:

Vicky: That cramp sounds horrible. Ouch! Hope you're feeling better today.
I had a feeling you'd be going Goofy this year. :thumbsup2 My training plan was just my own. I did an 18 week plan with 4 runs a week. Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. I will try to look it up and see if I can find it.
Please, don't feel pressured to come to KC for that run. :)I just think it would be fun to do it together, but you are kind of far away. Plus, there's one up there. Not that I wouldn't love it if you did.:thumbsup2
Oh, and I'm going to go ahead and use the 1.3 gain as your official weight this week. It may be high, but then, it'll be easier to lose for next week, right! ;)

Jeanne: I'm so glad you are getting some 'you' time. :thumbsup2 Everyone needs that. Hope the visit went well, though. I'm glad I could accommodate you with the arms! I think everyone needed a break from those silly squats!

Jackie: Congratulations!!!!:cheer2: I am so happy for you, and agree with Vicky. You are obviously a poster child for how to do it right!:thumbsup2

Maria: You did so great last week. Keep up the good work!:thumbsup2
Yes, young ladies are very bold now. My son has little girls calling us all the time. I hate it! One of his friends younger sisters tried to kiss him at a sleepover. One of his friends older sisters and her friends try to follow him around all the time. It's really aggressive!
I think the relay sounds fun. I wish I could do it with you, but I won't be there this year. I am bummed. I keep reading all the threads and wish I could go. :sad1:

Beth: I think that it's ridiculous that they split the brothers up. Hopefully, Buddy will be accepted. It sounds like you have some spoiled, happy guinea pigs at your house! ;)

AFM: I had a wonderful day yesterday, but the eating was HORRIBLE! I ate cookies, ice cream and cinnamon rolls! What was I thinking?:confused:Oh well, back on track today. It's supposed to be 82 degrees today, so I've been for a 3 mile walk, am about to go for a run and then, I'm picking Harrison up from his friends and we're going for his run. I may get a sunburn today, if I'm not careful.

Have a wonderful day ladies. Try to take it easy on that green beer!

Good Afternoon, Leanistas!

Tandy -- We have had one little girl that we just couldn't shake, we finally stopped answering her phone calls. I'd like to think she's gone now, but I'm still crossing my fingers and knocking on wood. I do feel bad for her -- poor thing could really use a parent who pays attention...It is very doubtful I will be there in January, and it makes me sad, too! :sad1: I just like to keep the hope alive :rotfl: Somedays the eating is just crazy -- it sounds like you have a plan to make today much better. I envy your 82 degrees, I think that sounds like a little slice of paradise! :goodvibes

Vicky -- I'm so sorry for the cramp! That is a good lesson for all of us, I would have just kept going, too  I actually did 5M today, for a couple of reasons. First, ds informed me late last night he needed my help on a project and there was no way I would have time to run 10M and help. Second, Dennis encouraged me to just do 5M, since he thinks I'm complaining a lot about my knee after I do 10M, and I should stop doing it every week. I'm going to try every other week, and see what that brings. At this point I'm not in training, I'm more trying to lose -- if I do 5M as a long run, that allows me to run more day a week, whereas 10M wipes me out for 2 days afterwards, even though I mean to only take 1 rest day.

Jeanne -- Yep, my tris don't hurt -- because they are completely unfamiliar with exercise :rotfl2: Glad Tandy thought of this for us, we can do it! ::yes::

Jackie -- So happy for you, this is incredible progress! Please stick to "if it hurts, don't do it"! I know you are tempted, but you will be happier if you just go with the feel-good stuff for now

Very excited to be the big winner this week -- I came in # 2 in the BL contest this week (with 2 different weights), so apparently I did something right! :thumbsup2

I also have to say, I think I'm looking better in my clothes. Turns out, almost 20 lbs less makes a difference. This is helping my overall confidence, and making me want to keep going. You guys really keep me going, too -- I can't be as open on any other thread, and I certainly wouldn't post my weight there -- thank you for inspiring someone who still has plenty of weight to lose!

It's also making me wish we could do a Leanies Meet at the Princess -- it just seems like the perfect race for us -- I am fully and unfortunately aware of fiscal constraints :headache: Maybe we can plan a "virtual race" just for us...just a thought...

Maria :upsidedow

Vicky - It's all YOUR fault. We went to Whole Foods tonight - had a brand new store open yesterday just a few miles from us, much closer than the one we usually go to. (No chia seeds, btw.) After we ate dinner at the hot bar, DH and I were wandering around the desserts, and they had Whoopie Pies! So of course I had to buy a package of 2 (mint flavored). I made DH eat part of the first one so I wouldn't eat the whole thing, and I've put the second one away to save for tomorrow.

Maria - I am so proud of you for continuing to put in the miles and eat so well. You deserve every pound of loss! I think Dennis may be on to something. I know some plans call for a LR only every other week, so it might not be a bad idea to alternate the 5 and 10 mile runs. As for "if it hurts...," the only problem is that sometimes you don't know it hurts until the next day! I am SO sore today. First run in 4 months? Ouch! Plus, I did Tandy's triceps exercises for the second day in a row, so I literally hurt from my shoulders down to my toes.

Jeanne - Caught up on TV yet? I'm letting a couple of shows build up - when I got on the TM yesterday, I didn't have anything to watch and I was so bummed! I think after tonight I should have a much better selection to choose from. Of course, I hope I may be able to move from the TM to outside, but I still think I'll split the miles for a few more weeks.

Beth - I don't usually have a problem eating in the evening, but there's a whoopie pie calling my name right now. If you listen closely, you can probably hear it! :lmao:

Tandy - Does the whoopie pie count as a new food? I searched the entire hot bar at Whole Foods for something I hadn't tried before, but apparently I've gotten much more adventurous since starting to eat there. I did try their rosemary sweet potatoes - I'm not much of a sweet potato fan, but these were really good!

As I told Maria, I was really, really sore today from last night's run. Had decided I'd switch to the bike for tonight's exercise. Then DH called and suggested we go to the park, so we took the dogs and did 40 minutes outside. It's absolutely gorgeous here today. It was just what I needed - loosened up most of the achy muscles, plus got me out in the fresh air, and the poor dogs haven't been out for a long walk in months. They were so excited we could barely get their leashes on them!

Now, I think I'm ready for bed. Fresh air and exercise makes Jackie a tired little girl...

Jackie

Hi Leanies, I finally have a chance to catch up on posting. I apologize in advance if this is really wordy.

Maria: Happy Evacuation Day. When I saw your post about hoping to run 10 miles today I was wondering how you were going to do that on a work day, then I remembered some of us (not me) get the day off in Mass. I am happy to hear that you and Dennis are signed up for Providence. We will have to make plans to meet up. I also want to hear your plans for going to the Boston Expo and where you’ll be on the course. In one of your posts I think you posted your DH was going to sleep over camp rather than your DS, I chuckled over that. I think your plan of running shorter distances more often will work well for weight loss. Congrats on being the big winner this week and congrats on losing 20 lbs so far. That’s awesome.

Tandy: Thanks again for running this challenge. It has been great motivation. I hope you’ve gotten back on track with the eating today. It’s easy to have one day turn into 2 or 3 or 10, the trick is to get right back to it. I’m glad that your whole family is working at it together. Harrison is very close to his healthy weight. When is the Warrior Dash you are thinking about? I’m signed up for one at the end of June. I’m a bit nervous about climbing over the 6 ft wall. I think once Boston is over I need to start working on pull ups.

Vicky: Journaling really seems to be the magic piece to weight loss. I wish I was better at it. I’m glad you are able to run again, but sorry about the cramp. I see you are thinking about Goofy, did you sign up for it? I really loved doing Goofy. It took all the pressure off of running a fast race. Plus it gives you 2 chances to run with your friends. I remember being back in my room after the half feeling so sad that the whole thing was over so quickly, but then I remembered I had Sunday’s race to look forward to. I’ll have to look for Chia seeds. That will be a good new food for me.

Jeanne: I’m glad you had a good time with your visitors and got the chance for some me time as well.

Jackie: Yay, Yay and Yay for running on the TM. I’m sure it’s been a long road for you getting back to this point. Don’t rush things too much. I’m glad you got a chance for a long walk outside. We had such a nice day today too, but I spent it indoors. Whoopie Pies! Yum! See below for more.

Beth: I hope the back/leg is getting better. Good job losing a pound. Without being able to exercise much any loss is a good one.

My eating has been going very well this week until tonight – more about that later. My Lenten sacrifice was to try to track my WW pts every day. I’ve missed a few days already in the first week because work had been so crazy busy, but I’m at least trying. It really helped me this week at my WW weigh in. I was down 3.25 lbs. I was up a bit last week, so I’m sure that’s part of it.
My DH was home today watching all the March Madness games, so he cooked corned beef and cabbage. I had planned to have just a small amount of that with just one piece of Irish Soda Bread and a few slices of Irish cheddar. It turns out it was all so delicious that I ate way too much. I would be OK with it, other than I didn’t weigh or measure anything so I really don’t know how many pts I had. I’m hoping to get right back to tracking tomorrow. I downloaded the WW app on my iPhone and that really helps to keep track of things.

Vicky, I think you asked about Whoopie Pies. There was a story recently in the Boston Globe about how the state of Maine is trying to make the Whoopie Pie the official state dessert. Apparently it is causing a bit of controversy in that the blueberry pie people want that to be the official dessert. Some say that the W.P. could be the official dessert while the blueberry pie can be the official pie. Now some other people were a little upset about all this debate when unemployment is so high and people are losing their houses to foreclosure and the Maine legislature is spending so much time discussing sweets. They also mentioned in the article that Pennsylvania was trying to make the Whoopie Pie their official dessert. I absolutely love Whoopie Pies. I used to work with someone who made the best ever, but she wouldn’t share the recipe. There’s a local store that has a pretty good one and in the Fall they make a pumpkin flavored Whoopie Pie that is awesome. I treat myself to just one each year.

OK, that is probably more than anyone wanted to read. I’m sure it will be a while before I get a chance to post again.

Have a great night everyone.
Cindy

Vicky - It's all YOUR fault. We went to Whole Foods tonight - had a brand new store open yesterday just a few miles from us, much closer than the one we usually go to. (No chia seeds, btw.) After we ate dinner at the hot bar, DH and I were wandering around the desserts, and they had Whoopie Pies! So of course I had to buy a package of 2 (mint flavored). I made DH eat part of the first one so I wouldn't eat the whole thing, and I've put the second one away to save for tomorrow.

 I'll give you one of my points from the challenge this week to add to your total :cutie: Our Whole Foods doesn't have Whoopie Pies - I Googled because I was curious and apparently, it's an Amish dessert. :upsidedow

According to food historians, Amish women would bake these desserts (known as hucklebucks at the time) and put them in farmers' lunchboxes. When farmers would find the treats in their lunch, they would shout "Whoopie!"[1] It is thought that the original Whoopie pies may have been made from cake batter leftovers

But honestly I had never heard of them until a month or so ago.

We should do a swap! My Whole Foods has chia seeds - I need to find grain sweetened chocolate chips. Apparently the company that makes these doesn't supply them to Canada :( Boo!

I'll catch up with everyone tomorrow! I'm trying to go to sleep early -- something about getting 8 hours and avoiding future cramps while working out

Vicky: Did you get your sleep? How's the leg? I've been following your posts on other threads, and it sounds like you're really leaning towards Goofy. I think you will do great, if that's what you end up doing. :thumbsup2 I completely deleted my training plans, but, in looking up other plans, this is the one that most closely compares to what I did.
http://www.marathontraining.com/marathon/m_sch_2.html

Cindy: Well, between you and Vicky, I'm getting really curious about these pies. I just may have to find one to try!
You will have to let me know how the Warrior Dash goes. I think the wall looks like fun, but I have this image of Goldie Hawn in 'Private Benjamin' that I can't get out of my head. The crawling through the mud looks like the most fun! :thumbsup2
I did not bother making the corned beef and cabbage this year because there would be no way I could turn it down. I am too newly vegetarian to resist corned beef.

Jackie: I think the whoopie pie totally counts as a new food. I didn't say it had to be a healthy new food, did I? ;) I love sweet potatoes and bought a whole bunch only to find out how many calories are in the darned things. No wonder I like them so much!
It sounds like you're getting a lot of activity, and all of it good. It's so wonderful to get outside, isn't it? It was 82 here yesterday. Best day yet this year!!!!!

Maria: I love the idea of a virtual race, but would, of course, love to be able to work out a real race. The problem is, we're kind of spread out. Well, I guess it's really only me and Vicky that are far away. The rest of you all live on the east coast, don't you? Vicky probably can do more traveling than I can, but I still wish we could work something out. :)
You are doing such a great job. I'm glad we are helping you because you're helping us too. You motivate me with your work ethic when it comes to running and eating right. I can so easily talk myself into skipping a run or going out for junk food, but, because of you guys, I always question myself. :thumbsup2

AFM: I just picked up my shadow box that I had made for my medals from January. It looks really good! It's just so honkin big, I don't know where to put it. I don't want it to be a focal point in my house, but it's really huge! Frank had also purchased 3 prints by Peter Ellenshaw of Pooh and Friends while we were at Disney in January. I had those matted and framed also. 2 of the prints are so huge now that they are framed, that I don't know what to do with them. I guess we'll be rehanging a lot of our art work. :)

I went outside to run yesterday. Shorts and a tank top and I was still warm, but I'll take that any day over cold. I got 3 miles in and then, boot camp was cancelled at the last minute. I hope I get a makeup class, since I already paid for it. If I get motivated, I'm running 8 today. Harrison and I have to do his long run tomorrow, which means I get to play motivational coach again. We have 35 minutes to do, so at least his grumpy attitude won't last too long!

Went out to eat last night and I did very well. Ruby Tuesday's has a new vegetarian pasta dish that is 535 or so calories. It's not bad. Mainly, it was just nice to have some sort of option other than the salad bar. :thumbsup2

I hope you all have a wonderful, and hopefully warm, weekend.

I guess I never told you all that I live in the area of the "Whoppie Pie" and could buy them every day! I am sorry it's not a nationwide thing. They are chocolate cake "cookies" with cream in the middle. Usually a white cream, but they also have peanut butter cream, or even red velvet whoopie pies with cream cheese icing inside. They are lovely, but I haven't had one in a very long time!

Tandy: Glad your weather is nice too! Today was lovely, and I wanted to go for a run!

Vicky: The MRI showed that I blew my disc completely....and the remains of the disc is lying on the nerves that go to my leg....hence the numbness. I am hoping the next two epidurals help the numbness.

AFM: I had a GREAT loss this week at WW! I am down 2.2 pounds for the week! Tremendous.....but it sure wasn't easy! That was really working the plan extensively! So I am at 19 pounds for 9 weeks. Not bad! I am starting my next strong, and would love to shave off the extra pound to make it twenty in 10 weeks!

Happy Monday Lean Ladies!!!!
It was a slow weekend on here, huh? Thanks for the bump Beth. Reminded me that I need to post!;)

Beth: You really are just doing amazing on the weight loss. :thumbsup2 You have set some very realistic goals, and you're making them happen, even with the back and nerve issues. Speaking of which, I am in total amazement that the back itself isn't just killing you. You must have a better pain tolerance than I do.

AFM: I went and had IPL done on my underarms today. I had it done on the bikini area about 3 years ago and loved the results. But, I could only afford one area. But, there was a groupon deal (local deal a day internet thing) for up to 6 IPL treatments to one area for $109. Can't beat that! Anyway, now my underarms are burning and I really wanted to get out for a run today. I think I'm going to wait another hour or so, and see if it starts feeling better. It's kind of like a sunburn, which is very tolerable, unless you are sweating and rubbing. Yuck!

Weight loss today was bad for me. I gained half a pound from last Monday. I'm just hoping that tomorrow's challenge weigh in is better. We went to dinner theatre last night and I ate too much. But, the good news is that Harrison is down to 109, which means he only has 4 pounds to go. Frank is down 3 more pounds also. And, David, my stepson, is down to 299 for the first time in about 7 years!!!!:thumbsup2 I'm glad they are all doing so well. Harrison got a 35 minute run in yesterday and complained the whole time. I am going to really have to dig deep to get through this training with him. I am so frustrated by his attitude, that I could easily go to the dark side and turn into 'angry mom'. But, so far, I have resisted.

Happy weigh in day ladies!!!!!

I weigh exactly the same as I did last week, so no loss point for me this week.
I still managed 7 points with 1 full point each for aerobic activity, triceps, water, dairy, veggies, new food (tofu with black bean sauce) and temptation.

I will be away from the computer most of today, so I'll tally everyone up later today.

The new exercise challenge this week: shoulder press
I'm still trying to stick to upper body for those who are battling injuries. Beth, you can use any exercise that you can safely do with your back, because I'm sure these won't be good for you.

Have a wonderful day ladies.
