Working on Weight Loss and getting Lean!

Maria - CONGRATULATIONS! Welcome to the new family member! It means so much to have a relationship with your vet.

Kim - How'd day 2 go?

Jackie

Happy Monday leanies! Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Maria - Congrats on your new kitty! I think you've chosen an adorable name and you'll have to post some pics of the little guy ASAP! Glad to hear you're feeling better and that you got in a couple of runs this weekend! Good job!

Tandy - WTG on the loss this week and to Harrison as well for getting a grilled chicken sandwich! I'm not sure if you like tzatziki but I love it as a substitute for mayo. Humous is great that way too! Congrats to the Packers for winning the Super Bowl! You must have been ecstatic!

You can post pics of your dog if you get a Photobucket or a Picasa account. You upload the photos there and then post the link on DIS. I think you can upload them to DIS as well but I never quite figured that out.

Jackie/Kim - Thanks for the FB likes!

Debra - Made it through '127 Hours'! I think I had my hoodie zipped over my face and my hands over my ears at the end. I guess I have about 3 weeks to make it through the rest.

AFM - My 'me' weekend was just what I needed. Lots of fun! And I didn't realize how dry my skin was until after the mini-facial. I keep forgetting exactly how bad the winter air is. Brunch on Sunday was yummy! I cheated with a pain au chocolat but it was so worth it. I'm going to stay and do an extra 30 minutes on the spin bike after training today. I walked around downtown after brunch and I think like Jackie, I just wasn't use to the distance. My calves were really sore when I got home. I ended up having to wash my Uggs too because they were covered with salt stains. Today, I'm back at the gym for training and ankle treatment. Eating is back on track :)

Have a great day everyone! :wave2:

Good morning leanies. I am awake at 3 am for some reason, so what better way to spend my time than posting here?:)

Sunday's game was fantastic!!!!!! PACKERS!!!!!:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:I just wish we had played better in that 3rd quarter. But, my Pack is finally getting recognized for their talent with this new team. :thumbsup2

Vicky: Your weekend sounds like it was wonderful. I have naturally dry skin, so when winter hits, it's really bad. I do what I can, but could probably use a good facial. How was the movie? Was the cutting off of the arm really gory?

Maria: Thanks for the congrats. I have decided that I don't hate Brady, by the way. :)He is truly amazing, and deserves the credit. :thumbsup2Plus, my son's hair is looking more and more Bradyish everyday. I'm so happy Chewie has moved in with you and will soon have a brother or sister to join him.

Kim: How's that pop going? Did you get past day 1?

AFM: I ate horribly on Sunday, of course, but got it back together yesterday. My running plan right now is to rotate between 2 types of weeks. 1 week is 4 days of running higher distances and the 2nd week is 5 days of short distances. So, I am on the short distance week. 3 miles almost felt like I was taking a day off. It's funny how your mindset changes when you've been marathon training, isn't it? I figure with this training plan, I can work on distance one week and speed the next. So, I ran really fast. It felt good. But, it was on the TM (sidewalks still don't exist in my town), and I can always run faster on the TM. I can't wait to get outside and see how fast I can run.

I got my car stickers in the mail, finally. I couldn't decide which to get, so I got the 13.1, 26.2 and the 39.3! Now, according to my car, it looks like all I do is run. I'm not usually a very prideful person, but I am, indeed, proud of this accomplishment. Plus, we don't know a lot of runners. I'm interested to see if this opens up some running discussions. I would love to get more people interested.

Harrison has decided to run our little local race that happens half a mile from our house. I suggested the 5k, but he's thinking about the 10k. :thumbsup2He wants to run a distance his friends could never do. Sound familiar?:rotfl: I will train him with the run/walk method, because he could never continuously run that distance. We have 2 months, so I may just make him stick with the 5k. We'll see, but I'm really excited about it. :thumbsup2

I hope everyone has a great week.

Sorry guys I let you down, I caved to the pepsi. Not a good idea to start that right before super bowl parties, had a few smirnoffs then decided I had enough for a Sunday night and had a pepsi and it was half finished before I realised it.

So starting fresh again today.

Good morning Leanies!!!!

Maria: I am so glad to hear of the new addition to the family.....please give a big kiss from me! I, too, may be adding to the family..... 2 poor guinea pigs lost their owner and are currently at a shelter near my sister. She had to call me to tell me that they have been there for several weeks and need a home. They are 2 brothers, 1 year old, and sweet looking! Their names are Snickers and Mickey!!! We had to put an application in, and now waiting to be 'accepted'.....in case we are not a good home!!!???!!! My references are the 3 other pigs I have currently, who live high on the 'hog'!!! I am not sure they want 2 more, but I feel the need to save them! The plan is to build on an "addition" to the current home ((((which already takes up 1/2 my living room! :scared1:))))) My sister thinks is hysterical that I have to be 'approved' since the piggies are treated better than the rest of the family!
I buy organic for them.....but no one else!

AFM: I have to say that running is feeling SO much better after losing 12 pounds......I felt so fat and slow.......now feeling more like myself!

WW is doing well. I had an 'adjustment' week last week.....only lost .2, but that made it close to 12 pounds for 4 weeks, which is REALLY good for me. I have only lost 10 pounds a month before that.....so I was sort of expecting a slow week last week. I am hoping for 2 this week......I had some treats on Sunday, but really did save alot of points for them throughout the day.....so I stayed within the point allowance for the day.

Running 4 miles a day, putting me at 28 miles a week. I am taking the increase in mileage slowly. I am too heavy right now, and don't want to injure myself by going to fast building mileage. I am running 12 min miles also for the same reason.

I hope everyone is well!

Beth

Kim -- No talk of "letting people down" allowed! Every day is a chance for a new beginning. I cannot tell you how many I have had :rolleyes1 :rotfl:

Running out to a state audit, and hard at work on a project that got thrown at me which is due by Friday at noon -- sigh.

I ran 3M this morning since I knew I wouldn't be able to go to yoga. Down 2.4 at WW last night, for a total of 8.8 in 3 weeks. Like Beth, I already feel lighter running!

Maria :upsidedow

Good morning ladies. Here it is, 4 am, and I'm up again. My brain is just spinning. :)

Maria: Congrats on more weight loss. You seem really motivated right now! :thumbsup2

Beth: Yah to your new guinea pigs. Have you gotten them yet? You are doing great on your weight loss. A loss is a loss, even if it is .2 pounds. 12 is fantastic! Now I remember what a running machine you were.

Kim: There is none of that here. You can't let us down! When you are successful, we are happy for you. When you aren't, we support you! :thumbsup2 You'll kick that soda habit, it's just hard.

AFM: I lost 3 pounds!!!!! Very happy to see a loss. Eating has been hit and miss this week, but I'm trying. Running hasn't been good either. 6 miles total and it's Thursday. But......

I went to the nursing school info night last night. I'm going for it.:yay: I'm going to go see a counselor tomorrow and enroll. It will take me 3 full years. I need to get the CNA this spring, one general ed class this summer and 3 more this fall before I can even apply for the nursing school (which is a 2 year RN associates degree program). Oh, and I have to retake my ACT. Apparently, I'm too old for mine to count. Then, next January, I get to apply for 60 spots with 300 other people and hope my scores get me in. It's the only school I want to go to around here, so I need to get in. I thought about applying for both the RN and the LPN schools, even though I want the RN. The LPN would at least get me started and I could apply for the RN the next year, if I don't get in. So, anyway, I'm really excited. So, I think that's why I can't sleep. My brain is wired!

Have a wonderful day ladies.

Hey Leanistas!

Tandy -- You seem a little motivated yourself right now! I can't imagine taking the ACT again  You are taking on a lot, but the rewards will be many and awesome! I'm so glad you liked what you heard enough to commit -- that means this is going to be a great fit for you, and you will really enjoy the process. :thumbsup2 I hope you are taking a nap, that is a very early start!

Beth -- Sounds like the guinea pigs have it made at your house, and Snickers and Mickey would be lucky to go home with you! I love that phrase, an "adjustment" week. I'll be using it, I'm sure. That's going to be what I call that .2 gain I had week 2 :rolleyes1 I can't believe how close I am to reaching my goal of losing 10 lbs before Princess, I just have to hold it together and make it happen. I'm so glad we have the free fruit, it is making a huge difference for me. :goodvibes

:wave2: to Debra, Vicky, Jackie and Kim!

(cross-posted from BL Princess, with apologies to anyone on that thread)

I'm taking a rest day since I definitely decided to do my 12M tomorrow morning. I ran 4M Wednesday, and my body decided 4 days in a row was going to be good enough. I'm actually really looking forward to my run tomorrow. I have the ipod all loaded up with new Glee songs.

We ended up having chicken breast from a local market last night, and it was so juicy and tasty -- I'm going to suggest to dh we buy it there instead of the chain grocery store.

Tonight dh is making burritos -- I'm a little nervous, even though I have them pointed out and accounted for -- 1 6" Mission tortilla, 1/2 c. vegetarian refried beans, 1/4 c. reduced fat cheese + salsa = 5 pts, and I'm having 2. I just have it in my head that I can't eat Mexican food, :confused3 but I'm eager to give these a try! :thumbsup2

Exercise and Food -- that seems to be where my focus is these days -- when I'm not trying to get the new kitty to let me sleep a few more minutes. He wakes up ready to play.

Oh! And planning the transition to a new pastor for our church. I agreed to be the chairperson of the Staff/Parish Relations Committee before our pastor announced she's retiring...and now I have to plan a farewell party for her, and figure out how to welcome and help settle the new person, which apparently is much more complicated than one would think...at least the party will be over in June. :flower3: I can't think too much about that because I'm obsessed with thinking about how I might want to spend my time after the race. I'm staying until Wednesday, so I have two full days to enjoy myself :yay:

Maria :upsidedow

Hey Leanies!

How is everyone?

Tandy: Congrats on the nursing school decision! Sounds like it will be a good fit for you. Hope it all goes well.....sorry you have to take the ACT again....I HATE tests!

Maria: Yes, I am very grateful for the free fruit! It sure has helped me out when I need to eat something....but don't want to waste the points! I haven't gotten word yet about the piggies, but have high hopes and went shopping for all the needed supplies today.

AFM: I had my WW weigh in today. I am down 1.2 pounds for the week. That puts me to 13 pounds for 5 weeks. I am happy with that....I was hopeful for 2 pounds this week, but 1.2 is ok!

Beth

Good morning friends!!!!

Beth 13 pds in 5 weeks that is awesome:thumbsup2

Maria you are one busy lady!!!! Good luck with your 12M tomorrow

Has anyone thought ahead to Marathon weekend 2012? What race or races have you decided to do?

Good Morning, Lovely Lean Ones!

Kim -- Wow, that is too far out for me! I'm still trying to think if there's a way I could make Wine & Dine work. I would love to try it, but it's pure economics at this point. We're giving my dad and his wife a cruise to Canada this Fall for his 75th birthday, so between that and our own summer vacation -- let's just say my travel funds are going to be limited. At this point dh is saying I can do marathon weekend or Princess next year, but not both. I'm going to see how Princess goes before I decide...and also maybe if I'm really frugal in other areas (or lose a ton of weight!) I can talk him into both...

Beth -- 13 lbs in 5 weeks is awesome! You are totally :rockband: I'll cross my fingers for the piggies, it's good you will be ready for them!

I am happy to say my 12M is in the books -- and I actually didn't feel like I should be "done" until after 11, so that is definitely good! :cool1:

Now I am free to relax and enjoy the weekend -- well, after I get done with this pesky work ;) How am I going to celebrate? I'm going to watch Episodes 5 & 6 of "The Tudors" while I eat lunch. I sort of feel like I'm cheating -- as long as it stays relatively factual I won't be surprised. I had an entire year of English History in undergrad, so I know Anne Boleyn is not going to have a happy fate

DH let me know he hasn't made any reservations for Saturday night yet, but it's on his list. I don't know where we'll end up, but I know I'm saving my Weekly WW points for that dinner! DS is babysitting with the youth group to raise money for their summer trip (UM Army -- they go to Connecticut and do minor home repairs and yard work for people who cannot do it themselves), so we will be able to be out and not worry about him at all.

I hope everyone has a fabulous weekend, and great LRs!

Maria :upsidedow

It's me again.......sneaking back in with my head hung low in shame. Boy, do I need you guys now more than ever. I don't know how it happened, but I have gained a good deal of weight back......almost everything I lost before the weddings. Worst of all, I got banished from One-derland. I keep trying to get back on track, but every week there's something new to derail me. I can REALLY use some support and encouragement, in addition to a good kick in the butt! Aaaagggghhhhh......I'm such a mess right now.

Hey Lean Lovelies!

No sneaking back in, just jump up and we will grab your hands! The wagon is moving at a good clip! ;) Beth and I are having great luck with WW, Vicky is sugar-free (mostly!), and Kim is working hard to say sayonara to the Pepsi. Tandy has incredible willpower, she just says "No", and has a great running schedule. And can I say probably the most inspiring is Jackie -- she's coming back from surgery and pushing herself at every opportunity! I would report on Debra, but those of us not on FaceBook don't know how she's doing :rotfl:

Nothing really new to report for me. I hadn't seen "The Tudors" before I started with Netflix, and now I'm hooked! Caught up on "Castle" and "Hawaii 5-0" last night, and still crashed by 10:20. Slept until 9 today, I guess I really needed the rest. Well, I had a little someone try to wake me at 6 by constantly pouncing on me, but he finally gave up and laid down.

DH made a reservation at a nice local restaurant. One of their specials is lobster macaroni and cheese, which I don't think I can pass up. I already made a plan to get a salad and skip the dessert, and I'm getting a 1/2 order, so no leftovers! I'm also trying to keep today as light as possible, I cut my breakfast down to 2 pts (banana and yogurt), and I'm going to have pb toast (on arnold sandwich thins) and a pile of veggies for lunch -- if I don't manage to get to the store this morning and pick up some soup -- I can't believe I'm out of soup, it's so basic? :confused3 Anyway, hopefully putting this much thought into it will help me to be in control, but also have a good time. There's also a mojito or 2 in my future, they are unbelievably good at this place...

DH is out doing his 16M this morning. I intend to finish my breakfast and wake up, then I'm going to get dressed and start on laundry, etc. If he gets back in time, I'll do a mini-grocery run to get my soup, frozen dinners, etc. so I'm prepared for next week's lunches. I've been taking an extra portion from dinner as my lunch a lot more, and I really enjoy it. Of course, that means I didn't notice that we are basically out of soup and frozen dinners, so I need to restock. We're making a turkey breast roast for dinner tomorrow night, so I know I'll be back on track for good eating.

Anyway, Chewbacca has his first vet visit this afternoon, so we're going to be in and out all day...

Maria :upsidedow

Hi ladies. Happy Valentine's weekend! I hope everyone has something romantic planned. We don't really celebrate Vday, but we did go out dancing last night. Fun, fun, fun. I learned 2 new dances, one of which was to the song "Honky Tonk Badonkadonk". It's a good thing I've got plenty of hips, cause I needed them!

Maria: You are officially the posting queen. :thumbsup2 I can't keep up with you. I'm in on that lobster mac. Sounds way too good to pass up. Of course, everything sounds too good to pass up lately. :rolleyes1 How's little Chewie doing? I am sooo glad my dog is mature now. Those puppy days were almost too much for me. Brought back baby memories. Yuck! :lmao:

Jeanne: You've had a ton going on. It's completely understandable that a healthy lifestyle didn't fit in. But, it's time to get back on track. You'll be back out of those 200s in no time! Just use us to hold yourself accountable. And, welcome back! :)

Beth: :woohoo: Great job so far!

Kim: I'm not making it to marathon weekend next year. It'll be at least a couple of years for me. I'm not sure I can talk Frank into it again. He has a much better time at Disney when we aren't there during marathon weekend. But, who knows?:confused3

AFM: It's official. I'm enrolled at the college!!!!! I still have to take my placement tests and can't enroll in summer classes until April 4th. But, I've already got my summer and fall plans worked out. Now, I just need to wait. I am looking at practice tests for the math placement tests and realize I have no memory of algebra at all! You'd think I'd remember something in the last 22 years, but, apparently not. So, I'm probably going to have to take an extra math class to get up to the level of math class required for the nursing program. This just cracks me up because I used to be a math whiz. Everyone cheated off of my tests all through high school.

Running has been non existent this week. I only ran twice. I am ready to get back out there. The snow is melting, which is nice. Archie (the dog) and I went for a walk while Harrison had an indoor baseball practice. We got 4 miles in in an hour. It just felt good to get outside. I'm going to start running again on Monday, since that gives me another day of melting.

Have a great weekend!

Good morning leanies! Just me … Thought I'd give us a bump back up to the top! So it's a little bit of work that's been keeping me away but also a lack of clean eating. Let's just say the month of no sugar hasn't been going well… But lots of catching up to do with everyone here!

Tandy - Congrats on enrolling in college! I guess I'd better get my butt in gear and find something I want to do LOL

How's the knee doing? Have you been able to get any running in? Did you register for KC marathon? I love that you got all three distance stickers :) And how awesome is that for Harrison to run in a 10K! WTG!

You'll have to ask Debra about the amputation scene. I had my hoodie zipped up over my face and my fingers in my ears. It is unfortunately a longish scene so be forewarned! You know, it probably wouldn't bother me as much but I have a hard time watching when someone's screaming in pain. If it was a TLC documentary on surgery, no problem. As you can see, I wouldn't do very well in the emergency room

Btw, what's ACT? I have to do all the sciences - bio, chem etc. as well if I go into nutrition or anything health care related. Have the schools been asking about volunteer work?

Kim - I say baby steps. When it comes to food, it's not easy to quit cold turkey. Especially when there are lots of little temptations along the way. But how's the eating going now? I always like asking because you'll know that someone's there to check up on you.

Beth - WTG on the weight loss! You're rocking WW! And look at you go on the miles! You are going to back in shape in months! Do you have any races planned or are you just working on the weight loss and eating well right now?

Maria - Debra is around :) I know she's keeping up with the 100 day challenge but I think she's busy with work. I will make a post on her Facebook wall and see if I can get her to give us an update.

Sounds like Dennis is training hard! He's got the Boston Marathon coming up right? How's your training for the Princess going? I'm so jealous of anyone who's out there running right now :) Are you excited about your solo trip! For 2012, I hadn't planned on going back until the next anniversary of the marathon but I really had a lot of fun in January so now I'm kind of thinking about it.

How was Chewbacca's vet visit?

Jeanne - No need to sneak back in  Everyday is a fresh start! Just jump right in :)

Cindy - :wave2: How are things with you? Are you training for Boston?

Debra - I've got 8/10 Oscar best pic movies down + 'Blue Valentine'. Didn't care for 'Blue Valentine' or 'The Kids Are All Right'... How are things with you?

AFM - I've been sticking to no sugar during the day but it's a little tricky at night. I can't seem to kick the desserts :( I think maybe I just have to start having a mug of green tea after dinner. Not that the tea would satisfy my craving for sugar but it definitely seems to take my mind off sweets.

The ankle seems to be getting better. Still can't wear heels or run but I did another accupuncture treatment last night and didn't even notice the needles. Yup, I got more than one! My chiro thinks that I should be good to give running a try at the start of March so just another week or so.

My physio that I work with on Thursdays is moving to a new clinic :( His replacement is shadowing our sessions in the meantime. He's cute so it's a little distracting! But he seems like he'll be a good personal trainer. I watched him work with another client and he seems pretty tough. Of course, the first thing he said to me was "You're the boxer? I'd better not mess with you!" LOL

Anyway, hope things are going well with everyone! I'll try not to slack off too much from posting. Have a great day everyone! :wave2:

Tandy - Congratulations on the nursing school decision! Major life change! I can't imagine having to take all those tests again. I was pretty good at math too, but I don't think too much of it has stuck around.

Beth
- Your weight loss is amazing, only eclipsed by your running! You've gotten right back into the swing of things. Have Snickers & Mickey moved in yet?

Kim - 2012 is on hold, waiting on DD to make a firm decision on her plans for spring semester. She keeps waffling between doing a semester abroad in Ireland and doing the Disney College Program. Our last conversation (last week) was that she's going to do the semester abroad in spring 2012 and save the Disney program for her senior year. If that happens, we're skipping marathon weekend to do a week or more in Ireland while she's there. But she SWEARS that we're doing marathon weekend in 2013 - she's promised another WISH friend that she'll do the full with her that year. (This from a child who's longest run for the half she's running this weekend is 6 miles...)

Jeanne - Welcome back to the land of the lost. Many of us managed to gain it all back, and then some. I'm exactly where I was a year ago, so I'm starting over. Again. Did I see you've signed up for Williamsburg? I keep waiting for Bill to say okay, but I may just go ahead and register him anyway. I need a short-term goal, and the 8K is just perfect!

Vicky - I'm giving up on movies. DH and I saw "True Grit" a couple of weeks ago, and I hated it. Last night we went to see "The Mechanic" (yeah, I know, we're not exactly viewing Oscar films) and it was horrible. I love Jason Statham, but even he couldn't help that one. And as for gory, well, I don't usually mind blood, but I covered my face and considered leaving the theatre until they were done!

Maria - My Valentine's dinner consisted of a bag of popcorn, followed by my very favorite Triple Chocolate Torte with a glass of wine. I figured if I skipped the meal entirely, it couldn't be so bad. :rotfl:

Went to PT last night before our movie and dessert, and they kicked my butt. I love that they're trying to improve my strength and really seem to be focused on my goals. I'm hoping that I'll only have to go for a couple more weeks, and then do the rest on my own. I'm going to try the TM again tonight and see if I can do more than a mile...

The Myrtle Beach Half is this weekend - DH and DD are running, and I'll be cheering them and a ton of my Galloway friends. The weather looks fabulous!

As I mentioned to Jeanne, there's a new Half in Williamsburg on 5/21, and there's also an 8K that weekend. I'm shooting for that to be my first real race (there's a 5K locally the end of April that I may do, even if I have to walk it), but I need a shorter goal than MCM to shoot for. The timing is perfect, and the last time we were in Williamsburg I thought the city was beautiful and I really wanted to run there, but we didn't have time. So...

And I signed up for a weight loss program that my company sponsors a couple of times of year. You have to be accepted, so I won't know until next week if I get to do it or not, but there are online classes to attend. They claim that most people lose 10-15 pounds during the 10 weeks, and it costs nothing as long as you do the classes, so I figure I have nothing to lose except a few pounds!

Jackie

Good Afternoon, Lovely Leanies!

I decided I'm done working for today , so...

Jackie -- Your Valentine's dinner sounds so good -- I am going to splurge on popcorn tonight after my weigh in. I've been craving it all weekend, but I was afraid to have it (we make it on the stove with olive oil), because of what it would do to my number. I'm going to dig into a bowl while I watch Glee :lovestruc I hope you get into the company weight loss program, it sounds fantastic! ::yes:: I love dd's choices -- Ireland, or Disney College Program -- it's good to be her! ::yes::

Vicky -- Dennis ran 16M Saturday, he is very pumped to be doing Boston. I'm going with him to the Expo, just to take it all in. My Princess training is going well, I did 12M Friday, and I ran 4M yesterday and 3M today, and I also had yoga today. I took Saturday and Sunday off, I just seemed to need an extra rest day. I'm planning on another 10M Friday, and that is my last long run before Princess. I am starting to really think about doing this trip on my own, and I like it! :rotfl: I'm all set with Magic Express, I just need to get some Park tickets and figure out what to pack. I've started thinking about it, and I have to tell you -- realizing how much warmer it will be for Princess than WDW Half has me thinking this is the race for me! Highs in the 70s and 80s, lows in the 50s -- I am really looking forward to some sunshine! :goodvibes I will also add -- the ACT is a standardized test that is typically given in the Midwest, the way the SAT in given on the coasts.

Tandy -- Congratulations on enrolling in College! What a great opportunity for you! Chewie is doing great! He was much admired at his first visit at the vet, we were congratulated by all the staff, who had went through Worf's passing with us. He's starting to fill out, and he's incredibly playful. He still makes sure he sleeps near my head, I guess he's figured out who will let him sleep wherever he wants :rolleyes1 I am all for melting snow, we are finally having some here (except for today, when it's 20 degrees :cold:)

Here's my confession -- For the big V-Day dinner I split a cheese board appetizer with dh, then I had a crabcake and lobster tail entree. I was going to skip dessert -- but they took so long with our order, they gave us a free dessert. I couldn't pass that up :rolleyes1 so I had New York style cheesecake covered in chocolate ganache. The good news is on the actual day I just had turkey breast roast, 1/2 c. mashed potatoes, and 2 chocolate covered strawberries.

I postponed my weigh in until tonight, because I knew I was up yesterday. I am really hoping to see a loss tonight. Time will tell...

Maria :upsidedow

Hey ladies. Sounds like everyone's doing great. I can finally see grass in my yard and it's going to be in the 60s tomorrow!!!!!

Maria: I'm so glad Chewie's the picture of health. I'm so excited for you. Doing Disney alone will probably be great. It'll give you more time to focus on meets and expos and the race. After marathon weekend, I kind of wish I had come early by myself and had the guys come later. They were so bored with all my extra stuff. :) Is Dennis having any foot pain? I know that was an issue last month. Is he better now?

Jackie: I'm so glad to hear that you're planning so much running/walking. The 5k, then 8k, and then the full sounds like a good plan. I wish I had your daughter's dilemma. Hmmm, Disney or Ireland????? What a tough decision, but good either way.

Vicky: The knee is okay. I felt a little twinge yesterday, but nothing bad at all. The finger is better too. It's managed to heal itself and I have a functioning knuckle!
The ACT is, like Maria said, is a standardized test, like the SAT. I have to make an 18 or better on the science portion, and a 17 overall to qualify for the nursing program. The perfect score is 36, so I have lots of wiggle room.
I have to take 2 biology classes, a chemistry class, math, english, humanities, pe, etc... along with the nursing schedule. That's why it's going to take me 3 years instead of 2. I also have to get the Certified Nurses Aid course taken. So, basically, I'll be starting this summer and fall just taking classes to qualify to apply to the nursing program.
You have quite a few years to catch up to my 'starting college' age, so don't worry! :lmao:
We have now seen 'Social Network'. I am still waiting for 'Winter's Bone', 'Inception', 'True Grit', and 'King's Speech'. Frank has said no way to '127 Hours'. I don't want to watch it alone, so I guess that one's out. I don't know if I'll get to any of the others before the Oscars. Aren't they coming up soon?
Oh, and we wasted some time watching 'The Expendables'. Jason Statham couldn't save that one either. But, we loved 'Red'! Again, it's that Bruce Willis thing. The man is adorable!

AFM: Well, I finally got to run outside yesterday. It was such an amazing feeling. It's the first time since the marathon. I wore my marathon shirt to get me motivated! :thumbsup2 There were still a few icy patches, but, it's mostly gone. I went to zumba for Valentine's day instead of doing dinner. I am SOOOO out of shape it's crazy. They kicked my butt! I am starting boot camp this Thursday. A friend of mine joined a gym, and wants to give me some of her day passes. I would like to try a spinning class and whatever else I can't do outside of the gym.

Eating's still bad. I'm good one day, bad the next. But, so far so good today. Frank is considering going on Nutrisystem with his older son. I think it would be great, considering my SS is 340 pounds. We were shocked. He's very unhealthy, not just heavy. So, Frank feels like this could save him from his downward spiral, while helping himself too. So, keep your finger's crossed. Frank's a total cheapskate, so this would be big for him.

Have a wonderful day ladies.

Tandy: Way to go on your decision to go back to school. It takes a lot of determination and hard work and I know you can do it.

Beth: Congrats on the weight loss! Send some of those success vibes my way, please.

Jackie: Yup, both John and I have signed up for the Williamsburg half-marathon. It sounds like a great deal with the free admissions to both Busch Gardens and colonial Williamsburg. Plus, the 4-hr time limit should help me not feel like a slug. I know my endurance is down and I don't want to have to battle the sweepers, real or virtual. It would be great if you and Bill (and anyone else) decide to sign up. Good luck to Bill with the event this weekend.

Kim: I haven't given the 2012 WDW events any thought yet. Somewhere there is a Goofy in my future, but not next year.

AFM: I'm trying hard to work out at least an hour a day. The eating isn't perfect, but it is improving. Thanks so much for all your support. My 40th HS reunion is less than 2 months away, so I'm hoping that will give me a little incentive.
