Working on Weight Loss and getting Lean!

Beth - Corinna said it beautifully! I was tracking you all day Sunday, and I knew things weren't going well, but I was never disappointed in you. I was worried about what might be happening and wishing I could be there to offer encouragement, since no matter how down we all have been you've always known just the right thing to say to drag us out of the hole we've been in. You made it through 26.2 miles in really, really, tough conditions. You have absolutely nothing to beat yourself up about, and everything to be proud of, most especially the role model you set for your children and the rest of us here. Take a few days to rest and pamper yourself a little. You've worked really hard and you deserve it!

Jackie

Good Afternoon, Leanies!

Beth -- You are such a great role model -- the fact that you finished is amazing to me. Corinna, Cindy and Jackie said it so eloquently -- you are always there for us, and we consider you a treasure. More valuable than gold, you are! :grouphug:

Jackie -- An :shamrock: Irish pub, eh? Well, whatever gets you out there... :lmao: :drinking1

Tandy -- weekends are hard! Everyone around you is letting go a bit, and it's really difficult to not do the same, or do it in moderation. What's done is done, all you can do is look to the future. :thumbsup2

Jeanne -- and I thought Corinna had a busy summer! Wow, you are seriously a woman in motion! :cool1: Sounds like you need a personal assistant to do all the pesky chores for you. Perhaps you can convince John you are really a celebrity?! I'm sure you are to him! :lovestruc

Cindy and Vicky -- It was so great to meet you both in person! I hope I didn't hog the conversation too much. Sometimes I just get started... I highly recommend a local meet, it was fun to put names with faces. And may I say that Cindy and Vicky are both quite lean and lookin' mighty fabulous?! :yay:

Debra -- DH is not a sci fi guy at all. No appreciation for the finer things in life. If only WDW would hold an industrial real estate conference for cities with drydocks, then I could get him excited about going :rolleyes1 I admire you for that cupboard purge. Made of strong stuff, you are!

Manda -- Jillian's show was a mixed bag. In my opinion there weren't enough tips and there was too much crying. I'm hoping this week will be better. I need advice, not to watch people who I can't possibly connect with in 1 hour...:confused3

And now to cross post and catch you up on my life to date...

Saturday:
Speaking of running, I did 10M this morning, in just over 2 hours. It felt fantastic! I was really proud of myself. I had planned to do 9, and then I ate my last 2 clif bloks at 8M, and I knew that would fuel me through 2 more, so I went for it! I did all of my planned workouts and ate within my points this week. That is a victory! :yay:

We also went grocery shopping last night. I wish you could have seen my kitchen table after we got home -- grapes, oranges, apples, bananas, hearts of romaine, mushrooms, red, green, yellow and orange peppers, red and yellow onions, avocados, salmon, frozen veggies for steaming, raw cashews, organic yogurt, vitamuffins, laughing cow light cheese -- I am really pleased with what we bought, and the meals we have planned for the coming week. I will admit we also have Skinny Cow caramel cone ice cream, I'm looking forward to that special treat!

I lost 5 lbs this week (some of that was definitely from TOM!), but I'm still extremely pleased. It is very rare for me to ever see a number like that, and the fact that I'm feeling healthy, happy and enjoying my eating and workouts is priceless! :cloud9:

Sunday:
Sunday morning I had a mini DIS meet with a couple of ladies from the Leanies thread. It was really nice to get together for brunch. It was a little awkward, but it's great to put a name with a face. I think since there were only three of us (and a couple of extraneous spouses), it was a bit more comfortable.

I came home after that and did 6M of incline walking, then I took a good long nap. The horrendous thunderstorms woke me, and then we had to get everything ready for Monday before the Celtics game.

Monday:
Yesterday I got up and ran 4M, and then had a crazy-busy day at work. I was barely at my desk and spent almost all day in meetings, and when I was at my desk I had to deal with firedrill e-mails.

Tuesday:
Today is off to a better start -- I am making time to DIS since I'm at my desk, and I'm determined to have a good day. I have yoga at lunchtime, and I'm looking forward to opening my cards and celebrating after work. I have finally become the answer to Life, the Universe and Everything! (if you're not a sci fi fan, just know I'm one year older). I had my normal breakfast and have my normal lunch, I'm just splurging with the lobster roll (and my dh will probably get me a yummy chocolate dessert surprise), and that's more than enough celebration foodwise.

I hope everyone is having a good day!

Maria :upsidedow

Beth: You did great!!!!!:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:
You have not let us down! I am, personally, so proud of you. I not only haven't ever run a marathon, I can't even imagine running a marathon. And, in the early summer heat, no way!
You are a role model to us all. I agree that in a few days, you may feel better about your race. I certainly did with my half. I'm so sorry you were hurting so bad though. I can't imagine a 13 mile wall! :scared1::grouphug:

Maria: WOW! What a great week you had! Congrats! :thumbsup2 I am officially back on track, so thanks for the words of encouragement.

Jackie: I will look the author up and give her a try. I've seen the show a few times, so i think it'd be worth it. How was the run at the pub? I'm hoping you earned yourself a Guinness!

AFM: I ran 6 yesterday and 5 today and feel really strong. I've cut out a long run and am just trying to run more often and keep it around 5 or 6 a day with only 1 day off a week. I am not running in another half for quite awhile, so this feels more doable to me. My eating was completely back on track yesterday and today, so I'm back on the wagon. :thumbsup2

Tandy

Maria - :bday: And I get it! You've also reminded me that I still have fruit and veggies in the fridge that need to be cut and made ready to eat. I bought a lot of stuff on Saturday after my run in preparation for a cookout Saturday night with some of my running buddies, but I spent so much time fixing the dishes to take that I left quite a bit for later. Now it's 3 days later...
And smaller WISH meets are definitely nice. The POP meet is fun, but has become almost unmanageable. Now that I've been to two pre-race dinner meets this year, I've become a huge fan of those. And I'm lucky to have Wendy and Jeanne local, so we do see each other occasionally (when Jeanne isn't on a whirlwind tour of the planet and the wedding train!)

Tandy - The pub run will take some getting used to. Details below, but we didn't stick around for the Guinness :drinking1since we had a leaky pipe to repair. Maybe next time!

So we tried the pub run. When we signed in, the guy told us there are usually 200-300 people each week. That's HUGE! We went outside to wait, so we missed the introductory speech and group assignments. DH and I were going to run together, and then one of his friends showed up and he wanted to run with her, but they're WAY faster than I am. I left with one of the slower groups and immediately decided I was NOT having fun. Everyone knew each other - it was a very clique-ish mob - and I was miserable. I'd caught up to what was probably the 10:00 group and was coming up on the 1 mile mark when DH came back to find me - he'd realized what was probably happening and came back to run with me. :lovestruc The route was really hilly, and I haven't been running much, so I had to stop and walk a couple of times, but we averaged 10:43 for an almost 3 mile route. When we got back, they had a free buffet (asked for $1 donations), and were going to have trivia afterward. I'd try it again; not so sure about DH. He thought it was really unorganized, but I think that's because we skipped the official intro part. The regulars hang around outside because they know what they're going to do, and we got caught up in that. I'd like to talk some of my regular running buddies into doing it with me - think it would be a lot more fun that way.

I'm still losing, but my stomach still isn't normal. Not complaining!

Jackie

Maria! Happy Birthday! :cool1: More below, but I wanted you to get the lede! :bday:party::cake::rockband:

Beth: you didn't disappoint any of us. We're always rooting for you and supporting you no matter what. One of the things I tell myself, and it's hard for me to listen when I'm disappointed, is that a race is simply the culmination of hard work and all the successes that came before. You're a winner in my book. You did the best you could under the circumstances, which were rough on everyone! And I hope you got to enjoy a little of Disneyland!

P.S. Ditto to what everyone else said!

Corinna: And ditto to you for your half. You're both strong athletes and role models to me.

Jackie: Congratulations on your best-yet timed mile – you're so speedy! And for doing it in the humidity. And the best news? The no-problem knees. Oooh, a pub run! That sounds like so much fun (and much better than the crawls of my college days).

Cindy: Woo hoo for a mini-meet with you, Maria, and Vicky! It sounds like fun! :thumbsup2

Jeanne: I'm so impressed how you manage to keep everything together without being totally overwhelmed! I didn't realize you were going to Europe on top of everything else! :woohoo::scared1:

Tandy: Running every day is SUCH a big deal and I think you should be proud. And I know just what you mean by becoming obsessed with numbers thanks to the GPS. It's a sickness, I tell you! Does your DS have a pitching specialty? And congrats for being back on the wagon, racking up the miles & eating well!

Maria: Congrats on your 10 miles & in great time, too! What wonderful news! That's just the icing on the virtual, no-calorie cake for a great week filled with healthy shopping and a great weight loss! And again, happy birthday! I wish I'd been as clever as you to celebrate the day with a little Douglas Adams! And everyone should splurge on their birthday – especially such a momentous numbers day for sci-fi fans!

AFM: I remain sugar free, but I can't claim that I haven't replaced one junk food with others (lots of salty stuff). Addictions, addictions. And mmmm, my fresh fruit intake has gone waayyy up. I wonder why? :rolleyes1 No weight loss yet, but I feel better with no midday sugar crashes.

And in mild annoyances, it looks like I "lost" my iPod at the gym on Sunday. It's the last place I remember having it, in the locker room. I think it fell out of my bag, because it wasn't there when I got home & wasn't in the car or the street. *sigh*

Now I need to buy a new one, which is an arrrrrghhh enough frustration for, and put all my running music & podcasts back on it.
Truly, it's not much in the scope of things, but it's just one of those stupid things I do – after all, I must not have secured the pocket on my gym bag – that makes my want to jack slap myself silly!

In other news...well, there's no other news. Just working, running (not a marathon, half, or 10 miles like you warriors) and trying to accomplish things!

Beth: What's this about failing and letting us down? BANISH THE THOUGHT!!!! You are still our heroine and chief motivator. The fact that you finished while feeling so bad is truly an accomplishment and you should be proud of it. Not every race will be run with the same conditions and you have to take it for what it is. You stuck it out and finished when most other people would have given up....where's the shame in that?!? So even though it may have been ugly and not as fast as you had hoped for, I still say......
:banana:CONGRATS...AWESOME JOB!!!!!
BTW, Beth, did you catch the wedding photos? Did Nancy have fun?

Deb: Congrats on getting a clean bill of health!

Tandy:
I am leaving on Thursday for the first Baltic sailing of the Disney Magic. I know it comes at a crazy time, but trust me, this one was on the books even before my first child got engaged! We decided it might be a good idea to take a break between the 2 weddings with some "us" time. I guess I just didn't realize it would involve alot of extra planning and preparation, of which I am woefully deficient. I know once I get there it will be all good, but right now I'm in the "so much to do, so little time" mode!

Jackie: good job on the pub run. That's an outstanding pace! Sorry you had to run with snobbish people....fellow WISHers would never be like that. How's Bill's new job coming along?

AFM: I'm back to working out now that the first wedding is over and I don't have to be so careful about my knee. I ran a 5K on the treadmill today in under 40 minutes but I was wiped when it was over. I'm training to be fast for my 5.1 mile Wine and Dine relay leg. Next time, instead of running 3.1, I'm going to run the first, third and fifth miles and walk the 2 miles inbetween. If that feels better, I'll probably opt for that. I can't let the other teams know that I am secretly training.....
Well, I'm back to being obese again, but hopefully not for long. As if the wedding wasn't bad enough, we celebrated my birthday last weekend.....several times!...and it put me back in the bad zone. With 2 more weddings in the near future I WILL be back on track soon! :thumbsup2

Hi ladies! First off - :bday: to Maria! Hope you're having a fantastic day!

Cindy/Maria - I had a fantastic time at our mini meet! I did end up going by the Boston finish line. DF offered to take a picture of me there (during a traffic break) but I said the only picture I wanted was when I was actually crossing it during a race. Needless to say that probably won't be for a few years though. I realized I can't upload the picture yet because I didn't bring my laptop with me. And Maria, I don't think you took up the conversation at all :goodvibes

Beth - I can't imagine how you could ever let us down. Congratulations on finishing in such difficult conditions - high humidity, stomach problems, heat, etc. What a combination! But you finished and we're all proud of you! You are a fabulous role model to everyone here and your kids!

Tandy - I broke my sugar fast with some Reese pancakes on Sunday - they were so good!! WTG on your 6 and 5 milers! When is your next race? Is it a half?

Jeannie - Good job on the 5K:thumbsup2 Enjoy the cruise! With your hectic schedule, it sounds like a little "me" time is what the doctor ordered!

Jackie - That's so sweet that DH came back to run with you :lovestruc Sorry to hear about the cliquey running group. I've come across a few of those before. Congrats on that speedy sub 9:00 m/m mile!! Fantastic work, especially in such tricky running conditions. Hope your stomach is feeling better soon!

Debra - Sorry to hear about the iPod :( Try putting up a sign or two in the gym or your neighbourhood if you can. You never know... I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. If it doesn't turn up, there are refurbs on the Apple site that are a little bit cheaper and have the same warranty. WTG on the sugar-free diet! My fruit intake went way up too when I first started but at least you're getting in a lot vitamin C, anti-oxidants and fibre. And it's not refined sugar...

AFM - Made it down to DC and the weather's really cooperating. It's been sunny and warm but not humid which is supposedly rare. I've been eating waay too much but I figure it's a vacation so I'll take care of that when I come back . I did squeeze in a 5K on the TM on Sunday morning and then a 2.5 mile walk on the TM + weights in the evening. The hotel in Boston had a fabulous gym! The wedding was in a nature preserve - the building had no A/C so it was uncomfortable. It was small and really religious. The people there were quite cliquey  I did try and make small talk with a few people without much luck (DF didn't know anyone either except for his ex). I think he got bored too so we left early - his idea  The dress fit nicely btw!

Drove down to DC on Monday morning and stopped into NJ to see Carlos Bakery (aka Cake Boss from TLC). We picked up several canolis, a crumb cake, red velvet cupcakes and some cookies  They were all amazing (except for the cookies)!

Today, I think we walked about 9-10 miles around the city but we ate way too much. Stopped at a cupcake shop for treats, Argentinian gelato and a BBQ joint. On the plus side, it was breakfast, lunch and dinner but definitely way too many calories.

Not sure what we have scheduled for tomorrow - the guys want to go outlet mall shopping and too another cupcake shop to "compare" cupcakes so we might just do that. I want to walk around the city a little bit more but I think it's suppose to rain.

Anyway, I hope everyone is doing well! I'll post that pic from the Boston mini meet when I get back home this weekend! Have a great night everyone :wave2:

Just popping in to keep the thread from falling off page 1... either we're all feeling incredibly lean and mean this week, or we're eating like horses and afraid to tell anyone. :confused3 Me, um, maybe the latter? But only today - my old boss's birthday is today, and he was going to be in the office, so I chose to make the dessert we had at the cookout Saturday night. I will NOT describe it, other than to say there was ice cream, cool whip, and chocolate syrup involved. Lots of it. LOTS of calories. But boy, was it good! :thumbsup2

DH and I ran 5 miles Tuesday night - he created a ladder-style workout for our speed training, and I felt pretty good while we were running. About midnight Tuesday night the fact that I hadn't run regularly for 2 weeks and had now run 3 times in 4 days caught up to me, and I literally cried when I got up to go to the bathroom. Every muscle in my body ached - I felt like I'd just run my first marathon. Today I feel MUCH better, and am planning to try to do the group run from the running store tonight since he's working till late. If I can run tonight, I'll actually get in 4 runs this week for the first time EVER.

We're going to skip the group run Saturday and do the Race for the Cure, but since we need more than 3 miles we're going to park at the museum and run the greenway over to the race site. Should give me at least 5, maybe 7 miles for the day by the time I'm done. Now I have to decide if I want to run the entire 5K or do R2/W1 and see how quickly I can finish with those intervals.

Vicky - Your trip sounds like so much fun, except maybe for the wedding itself!

Jeanne - The job is okay, but not terrific. We're "exploring other options!" He got a call this morning from another place that he sent his resume recently, so we'll see how that pans out.

Jackie

Good Afternoon, Leanistas!

It's been one of those weeks -- really enjoyed my birthday, but so much going on at work I haven't really been able to post. And it's the last week for ds at school, so the evenings have been full of activities, too. I'm beat, good thing I have Monday and Tuesday off with ds next week!

Thanks so much to everyone for all the birthday wishes! It was indeed a happy day, definitely a celebration rather than a depression! ;)

So, I did yoga Tuesday and yesterday, and I've done absolutely nothing today. I don't think I'm going to get to anything. I didn't get up early, and I have to supervise ds writing 7 thank yous to teachers, principal, office staff, etc. By the time I get done with that, I will be ready for bed. :cloud9:

I've actually ate pretty well -- you saw the groceries. But, without the cardio...it will be interesting to see what I weigh on Saturday.

Jackie -- 4 runs is one week is awesome! I know you want to be more frequent, and it sounds like you are really putting in a ton of effort! :thumbsup2 Just don't increase too much too quickly -- we really don't want you crying when you visit the loo!

Vicky -- I am so envious you went to Carlo's Bakery! I would be so starstruck, I'd probably never manage to order! :rotfl2:

Jeanne -- I know it's belated, but :bday: I know you are quickly going to get back in the groove. We are going for the 80s, and we are going to get there before the next wedding! :groom:

Debra -- I actually consider it a boon that my ipod quit working. I had to buy the new version, and I probably would have never converted volutarily. It's the long lean shuffle, and I really like it! Just sayin' gotta look for that silver lining! :goodvibes

Tandy -- I think your running plan is great! I wish I could get myself to do 5 or 6, 6 days a week. That is phenomenal! :yay:

Manda -- What did you think of Jillian's show this week? It still has too much drama for me, and I'm a little skeptical of Jillian saying it's a "good, solid plan" to lose 30 lbs in 6 weeks. I'm certainly never going to manage that, it took me 18 months to lose 30 lbs -- and if I'm honest I'm not really there yet! :sad2:

Cindy -- I hope you've been spared the scary thunderstorms this week. I have had about enough! :headache:

I came in 4th in the BL thread last week with that great weight loss! I also won the Challenge of the Week prize (it's from a drawing among those of us who did everything -- drinking 64 oz. of water, eating 2 veggies a day -- so nothing I wasn't doing anyway...), so I'll be getting a surprise in the mail. Just a little something to keep me motivated! :thumbsup2

Ok, gotta do yet another meeting...

Maria :upsidedow

Hi ladies.

Maria: Belated happy birthday! :cheer2: I guess I haven't posted for awhile! :guilty:Your groceries sounded great, and I'm glad you are sticking to the eating. You can handle a few days off from cardio. You still did yoga, so it's not like you are sitting on the couch eating bon bons!
Your week sounds like mine a couple back. That last week of school was so busy, I didn't know how we were going to get through it. And, now, here we are in our super busy summer. We did nothing but the pool today (and running of course) and it was so nice to just relax!

Jackie: How are the muscles doing today? I hate and love that feeling. It means I'm working hard, but it hurts!
I think you are the only person I know who has to run to get to her race, otherwise her daily quota isn't full!
I'm sorry the pub run wasn't as good as it could have been. I've only been in one race in my whole life, and not one person was friendly to me, except the woman who removed my shoe tag thingy. So, I know how you feel. Your hubby was WONDERFUL to come back and run with you. :)

Vicky: I'm glad you are having such a good time on your trip. And, yah for fitting in the dress. I bet you looked fabulous! Sorry the people were such snots at the wedding. My brother married into an incredibly religious family and, when we went up for the wedding, the people at that wedding were the rudest I've met yet. Of course, it has nothing to do with religious beliefs, just bad manners! ;)I would love to take an eating tour of a city. I've never given myself that freedom before, but intend to soon.
I am hoping to do a half again in October, but will have to see if I can talk hubby into paying for it! ;)
Can't wait to see the pics from the meet!

Jeanne: Secretly training, huh? It would certainly be fun to see their faces when you smoke everyone! :thumbsup2
Your cruise sounds wonderful! We used to cruise all the time, but Disneyworld took over our lives lately. :rolleyes1
Happy belated birthday!!!!:cheer2:

Debra: No, my son doesn't have a pitching specialty. He is "The Closer" on our team (my dad calls him the vulture, but since I'm not huge into baseball, I don't know what that means). He comes in with 1 or 2 innings left, and finishes the game for us. I mainly just help by catching for him when he practices. I've now resorted to sitting on a bucket, because my quads were killing me! :rotfl:
Any news on the wayward Ipod? Is there anyway the person who "found" it could identify the owner? I would be truly lost without mine, so I feel for you!

AFM: Another successful day today (so far anyway). I'm feeling really good. I only ran a 5k today and had planned a 6 miler, but I just couldn't leave the house for that long because my son had a friend over. I'm going to zumba tonight, so that should make up for it. And, I've heard my instructor has added some belly dancing in so my core should get a great workout! :thumbsup2

Eating is going well also. My family braved the scale Monday morning and agreed to get back to being healthy. My son is doing great, but my husband is truly addicted to salty crunchy snacks. I have some in the house, because he likes to have his cheat days when he diets (and, no, it will never be a lifestyle change for him, because he HATES to eat healthy). Well, he has found my stash and pigs out in the evenings. At least he's not doing it in front of our son. All I can do is cook healthy meals and hope he will get it together.

I hope everyone is doing well. :hippie:
Tandy

I feel like I have been gone forever! I am glad to be back.

I am so sorry to have missed so much!!! party::bday: to both Maria and Jeanne!!!!! Sorry they are belated wishes!

Jackie: Sounds like you had a great workout!!!! When I am sore like that, I do think "great workout!" to myself!

Vicky: Hope you had a great trip! It's so nice you had a 'meet and greet' with other Lean Ladies!

Jeanne: I did see the pictures (which were awesome!) and, yes, Nancy had an awesome time!

Maria: I am glad you had a nice birthday. And, WTG on your place in the BL competition! It seems the healthy habits helped you along!

Tandy: The weight loss wagon does have some ebbs and flows.....I am fully back into the weight loss mode now that my marathon in over!

AFM: I was really good today. Controlled my eating by spending most of my time running errands today! I did alot of cooking too. I am leaving again to go to a conference in Arizona with Miss. Nancy on Saturday. I made some food today so the boys have some leftovers to eat while I am gone.

I am going to try to run tomorrow. I haven't run since Sunday, and feel a little stale right now. I can't wait to long to get back at it!

Beth

Leanies!

I ran 10M Saturday and 6M today. I don't normally run again the day after my long run, I'm just feeling antsy and like I have to shake things up to get them moving. I was up .6 from last week, but after a 5 lb loss, I'm not really surprised. I'm also thinking about throwing in an extra 10M on Tuesday, since I'll be home with ds and I'll have time. My legs are not sure this is a good idea, they are already protesting 16M in 2 days. It is making me rethink the 6M I had planned for tomorrow.

It doesn't help that I had a giant bowl of popcorn this afternoon. I really want the weight loss, but then I go and do that...I don't know where my head is sometimes :headache:

I just wanted to say a quick "Hi!". We have to get everything ready for the Celtics game tonight. No special snacks, but I am going to have my soda of the week, and make it a Diet Mountain Dew for the caffeine. I'm going to need help to stay awake!

Maria :upsidedow

Good morning ladies. I hope everyone had a productive weekend.

Maria: You are doing an awesome job upping your miles for your long run. Do you remember when 6 seemed like a huge deal? That wasn't that long ago. Be careful not to overdo it. Make sure your body wants to do that 10 on Tuesday, not just your mind! Great job on your weight loss, by the way. You are doing an amazing job!!!!!!
Congrats on the win last night!!!!!:cheer2:

Beth: How was your run? Aren't you still hurting? I know I would be. ;) Sorry to hear you have to go to Arizona in this heat, but have fun!

AFM: I kind of took the weekend off from healthy living. My husband is really upset with himself and his weight right now and asked that we get REALLY serious on Monday(today). Of course, I HAVE been serious, but now I guess it's his turn.;) So, he wanted to enjoy eating whatever he wanted this weekend, and then go for a full month without eating out or buying any junk. So, we went a little crazy this weekend. I don't know why I fall into that silly trap, but, boy, do I ever! And, then, of course, with eating junk, I didn't feel like exercising much. I did walk on the TM (full incline) for a little while and I lifted my upper body, but I could have been so much more active!

So, now there is no junk in my house and I'm back on track! :thumbsup2 I have a friend on her way over so we can go for a long walk and then, I hope to run later and I have zumba tonight. Basically, I'll just be a sweaty mess all day, but that works!

Have a wonderful day ladies!
Tandy

Tandy: We all have to get to the healthy living decision ourselves. I've found that I can't force it on my dh.....I cook healthy, but he travels so much, that it doesn't help. I hope your dh can stick to the plan!!

Maria: Good job with the miles.....but be careful! The more miles you do, the hungerier you get!

Beth

Good morning ladies. Everyone must be busy right now. :)

Beth: Thanks for the encouragement for hubby. It's so hard seeing what he's doing to himself and being helpless. But, as long as I'm responsible for me and for my son, that's all I can do. :thumbsup2

AFM: I had a great day yesterday. I ran 7 miles and then, did zumba. I ate really well, although I ate a lot. According to my calculations, I burned about 1100-1200 calories, so I ate about 2500. I felt like I was eating all day long! What a great diet!!!!

I walked this morning and then, took my son for a 1 mile run. Now, I'm going to go run 4 or 5, whichever feels right. I won't get to eat as much today, but that's okay. We're going mini golfing later which is always fun (at least for my son who always wins).

Have a great day everyone!
Tandy

Good Morning Everyone. I don't have a lot of time to post, so I'll just say hi to everyone. My Pre-Summer challenge has been a mixed bag. I'm staying on points more days than not, but the not days are more than making up for the rest. I've been doing pretty well with the exercise, but took 1 1/2 days off over the weekend since I was just too tired.

Hope all is well with you all.

Cindy

Good morning ladies!

Tandy - How was mini golf? I love playing when we go to WDW but am never very good at it  How's DH doing with the new healthy diet? Glad to hear that he's motivated to make the change! I love the salty, crunchy snacks too so I know how hard it is to cut that stuff out. I've found the easiest is just not to buy any when I go shopping.

Maria - WTG on all the running! That is some serious mileage! Did you get in another 10M yesterday? I need to move myself back to that level of running, I've been slacking a little bit  Did you get a Facebook account yet :) I posted some of my pics from Carlo's Bakery there. I didn't see Buddy or any of the sisters. The space is actually a lot smaller than it looks on TV.

Beth - How was the conference? Did you get some time off to see the sights in Arizona or was it a work-work conference? Hope you're enjoying the trip either way :)

Jackie - Love the ladder workouts! How did the race on Saturday go?

Debra - How's the month going so far with DOOD? Are you enjoying the "me" time :)

Cindy - Do you have any upcoming races? How are the WW meetings going?

Jeanne - Hope you're having a wonderful time on the cruise! Can't wait to hear all about it when you get back.

AFM - I'm back to low/no sugar. I haven't weighed myself yet so I'm not sure how much I gained while I was away. I hope it wasn't much but I'll see what the damage is on Friday :) One question for you ladies - when I was at the supermarkets in the US, I noticed that most of the yogurts (unless they were plain) had HFCS - even when they had sweetner there was still fructose or HCFS. I know yogurt can't be sugar free but are there brands that just have Splenda or Asparatame without additional sugars? That said - I did love all the other flavours I found. Boston Creme Pie, Lemon merangue ... I missed out on the Red Velvet :(

I'm a little behind on my training for my 30K at the end of August. I probably should be doing more miles each week but for some reason, I'm just not motivated. I have a 5K this Saturday. Definitely not ready for that one - I'm going to push myself to run the whole thing without breaks. I haven't been able to run 3 miles lately without a break or two. Not sure why...

Anyway, hope everyone is having a great day! :wave2:

Vicky: We do have a yogurt (I think Dannon) that is low carb/low sugar. It has 3 grams of carbs and is sugar free. They don't have any fancy flavors though, just the basics (strawberry, blueberry, vanilla). It's good, but I don't know the status of HFCS. It's small, and 60 calories. Nancy and I were watching Cake Boss all week! That sister is a piece of work, isn't she?

AFM: The Arizona trip is over today. Nancy and I will be flying home today. The conference had ups and downs. Didn't get to do much, but did make it to see the baseball stadium yesterday to pick up the boys some Diamondback shirts for a gift. The stadium look nice, and we ate lunch there at a Fridays.

I got to run every day while I was here. I am slowly working on speeding up again, but my calves are still a little sore. I do feel like I am back in the swing of things again! :goodvibes Eating wasn't to bad here, but did endulge a couple of times in dessert!

Hope everyone else is doing well!

Beth

Good morning all!

Maria - :sad2: I turned the TV off at halftime. I'm not a very good fan. West coast games don't work for us east coast girls!

Tandy - I joined you in the unhealthy eating weekend. And then I kept going. :guilty:

Vicky - DH had a great race. No PR, but it was 80 degrees and humid, so I think he did wonderful. I had my first DNS. We parked at the museum and started our run over to the race site, and my hip cramped and was hurting so bad I absolutely could not run. We walked the entire 2 miles at a VERY slow pace. DH kept saying I could probably run once I found some ibuprofen, but I couldn't think of any reason to risk injury for a 5K. I figured I'd made my donation to the Komen foundation, gotten my tshirt, so I was done! It felt really weird not to line up at the start, and I almost went ahead and walked the course, but I knew he wouldn't know where I was when he finished so I just waited for him to cross the finish line. Then his friend gave us a ride back to our car, which was really nice!

It appears that my "pain of the week" is the IT band. So we've moved from calf to knee to hip. I think I probably compensated for the knee pain and changed my stride just enough to aggravate the IT band on the opposite leg, since that's what hurts now, so I'm resting it and stretching it every few hours. We were supposed to run Monday night, but neither of us felt like it, and the same thing happened last night. The good news is that my knee feels better, despite doing a nosedive while walking the dogs first thing Monday morning... :confused3

On the positive front, our company's fitness challenge this month is to drink 64oz of water each day! Thank you Beth!

Jackie
