Working on Weight Loss and getting Lean!

Good morning ladies. I hope everyone is doing well.

Vicky: Your therapist may be right. My mother competed with me for years. She didn't like that she was getting older and I was in my prime (whatever that means). But, she got over it. :) I hope the shoe change works for you. I see people running in lighter, more neutral shoes and envy them. But, I will stick with mine because my ankles are so much better. How was your run last night?

Beth: How are you feeling? Any word yet on your surgery date? If so, any word on recovery time? Just worried about you.

AFM: Had a horrible run yesterday. I set out for 6 miles, but quit at 5. It was 82 degrees with 78% humidity. I was just sucking thick air, and it stunk! But, it's 60 degrees right now and lovely. So, I'll be heading out in a little while to get those 6 miles in.

Frank bought me my chair last night. I worked on the family room all evening and got the old chairs out and cleaned and moved everything. It looks great! Just in time for my brother and sister in law to come stay with us Memorial Day weekend!

My son has his first real date tonight! :sad1: There is a 5th grade skating party and he and his gf are both going with a huge group of people. He has asked that I don't stay, but one of the other moms that I know will be staying and spying for me. ;)

Just one more day til Friday ladies!!:thumbsup2

Good Morning, Lovely Lean Ones!

Tandy -- I agree, a 5th grader dating just doesn't sound right, but you have to remember what they call "dating" these days isn't really that intense, more like being in the same room at the same time :lmao: Enjoy your kidless cruise! Dennis and I did that for our 10th anniversary, and it was really magical :lovestruc I'm with Vicky, when I read you were getting your ss a laptop, I assumed he was a teenager -- not a 31 yr. old man! I can see where that could be challenging, particularly when he's expecting you to feed him :rotfl:

Vicky -- Wow, I believe your therapist may be right, too. It seems pretty odd to make your own dessert for Mother's Day. That never occured to me :rolleyes1 Give us details about the wedding! I think it is awesome you got your own invitation -- it sounds like he really wants you there! :goodvibes

Jackie -- DS's room is an issue in the balance right now for me. I don't know how much to make him clean it, and how much to let him have it be the way he apparently likes it...he has so much to do, I don't want to constantly harp on the state of his room -- but I really get tired of looking at the mess, but I also can't stand to have the door closed all the time...if I can get to a point where I just ignore it, that would probably be best for my sanity :rotfl2: We have the new Kingdom Keepers, but I haven't read it yet. I'll let ds read it first, and I'm not sure when he'll get to it.

 to Beth, Jeanne, Cindy, Manda, Debra, Kim!

Yesterday was a rest day for me, I need to run 3M when I get home. I have felt bloated and yucky all week, TOM is kicking my posterior. But, when I got on the scale this morning (I had to see how bad things are), I realized it is still possible for me to see a small loss this week. It could really go either way, so I'm going to try to do my best to stick to my plan. Then I'll be able to say that I made a decent effort, even if I don't see it this week.

Maria :upsidedow

Maria - We pretty much had to keep the door closed to keep the dog(s) out, so got used to seeing a closed door for that reason. The dog couldn't go in or we were afraid we'd never see her again. :rotfl: And then it just got scary. And I gave up. But now, Vicky, she is in that "purge" mode, and it's wonderful. Bags and bags of stuffed animals have left our home, along with bags of clothes. And countless bags of trash.

Vicky - I usually mix yogurt with fruit and Kashi cereal, and the Greek yogurt is just too thick. I don't mind it on its own, particularly the Dannon honey, but it doesn't work for breakfast. DH suggested to us last night that we consider a lighter shoe for racing, and I'm very freaked out. I've been wearing my Mizuno Wave Inspires for about 4 years now, and the idea of trying something new is not setting well with me! But his reasoning makes sense, so I guess it may be time for ANOTHER trip to the running store. We dropped a small fortune in one on Saturday while buying gear for all three of us. Last thing I need is to buy more shoes.

Tandy - I'm glad to hear that DD isn't the only disgusting one. We have a chronic problem with mice, and I have warned her repeatedly NOT to keep food in her room. At the bottom of a pile we found a nice little mound of Reese's wrapper pieces - kindly left there by the mouse who had eaten her Reese's Cups. I think she was sufficiently grossed out. So glad you got your chair, after such a disastrous Mother's Day! I sincerely hope that when Annie is 31 that she is more responsible...

I am very happy to report that my directionally-challenged daughter made it from Raleigh to Atlanta and back (well, almost back now) without getting lost. Or maimed, or any of the other horrible other things that her father was sure would happen to 2 young women on a road trip by themselves. So I guess tonight we may have to tackle the room again. Ugh.

At least I won't have to run again tonight. DH took us on a hill run last night. Did a warmup on the landfill roads, then up the "mountain" at the landfill. Run a lap, up the hill. Repeat. OMG. I am so not ready for this. But I survived, and even made it up the hill without stopping the last 2 times. (Had to stop and walk the first time up. Thought I'd died somewhere along the way.)

Have not gotten on the scale this week. May just wait until next Tuesday, for consistency's sake.

Back to work. Break time over!

Jackie

Happy Weekend, ladies!!! It's finally here. I started the weekend with baseball practice in 40 degree weather, and we have a game later and a game tomorrow and it's supposed to be cold the whole time! Yuck!

Jackie: How are you feeling after the landfill run? I love hills, but my glutes hurt so bad the next day. I'm sure you will be so happy when the purge is over. Maybe the door could even stay open on occasion. :rolleyes1

Maria: Yes, dating at this age isn't really dating. She ended up not being able to go anyway, so he was a little bummed, but just hung out with his friends. Of course, he had to fall a lot and hurt himself and has 2 games this weekend, but he had fun.
I am learning to pick my battles with Harrison also. This whole parenting thing needs to come with a manual.
How did your weigh in go?

Vicky: I meant to post earlier about the protein thing. It's not 1 gram per pound of body weight, it's 1 gram per pound of lean body mass. You deduct your body fat % from your total weight, and get the amount of weight you are of just muscle, bone, etc... Then, you eat 1 gram of protein per pound of that. Mine is 105 grams, and I very rarely make it to that number. I'm usually around 80-90, thanks to the greek yogurt.

AFM: Like I told Maria, Harrison fell skating. He hurt his knee and his left wrist. Normally fine, he's a kid, afterall. But, he's got 2 games this weekend and he needs to pitch at least a couple of innings. He is hurting when he swings the bat, which is not good. So, we had the little talk after practice this morning about sucking up the pain. I'm amazed at how different he is from me. I will run no matter what. I have to get people to physically hold me down. But, Harrison will just wimp out every chance he gets. I'm hoping that as he ages, he'll change a little. I don't want him at my extreme, but it'd be nice if he was in the middle somewhere.

I have reached a milestone. When Harrison was 18 months old, I got down to 131 pounds by drinking 3 slimfasts a day and only eating dinner on the 3rd day, plus smoking 1 pack a day. Well, today, I reached that number again through clean eating, no soda, no cigarettes now for 6 or 7 years, and just working out constantly! I couldn't believe the scale said it! I am so much healthier today than I was then. And, I know I can get lower! So, I just wanted to share my joy with you guys. No one else really understands me. ;)

Back to back posts, because I just had to announce that I reached my goal weight this morning!!!!! First time I've been this low since 1997!!!!!!!! Thank you everyone for all the healthy advice and holding me accountable. Now, I just have to figure out how to get my body fat% where I want it without taking too much more weight off.

Hello leanies! :wave2:

Tandy - Congrats on your fantastic transformation!! I have to ask though... what was it like having only 3 Slimfast shakes a day? I know other people who do similar diets and I would be trying to sneak snacks on the side all the time. Thanks for the protein tip! I have to figure out how much body fat I'm carrying in that case. My morning smoothie has about 17 g of protein but it is very hard to get in large amounts.

How's Harrison doing? Is he feeling any better?

Jackie - There's a new code for RunningWarehouse.com RWMAY11 which expires on May 31. Not sure if that's stackable with the WISH code but if you are in the market for new shoes, maybe it will help. I also find the Greek yogurt really heavy. I like eating it for "dessert" with a bit of fruit. I cringed a bit when I read the part about the mice and the PB cups... but I've seen them suck ketchup out of those fast food packs. They're just not good to have around.

Maria - I don't have too many details about the wedding. Luckily it's the week after my 30K (it's also on a Saturday as well). I was going to ask him not to seat me with my parents - my mom is nonstop with the photos and my dad whines a lot if food isn't brought out promptly. But I figure they probably have enough to worry about. :goodvibes

AFM - I'm up 1.3 lbs  I thought I was being good with my eating but apparently not :headache: I think this makes me about 10 lbs heavier than I was last summer (great!) :sad2: I think I have to start journalling again because in my mind I'm being really good but obviously that's not the case. Argh! Oh well... Guess I'll give this another shot :cutie:

Running is going well - not much ankle or knee pain on the weekend but my shins did feel a bit fatigued and so I cut the run short before it turned into knee pain. It's a bit chilly here but I'm going to try and head out for a quick run when I get home.

Have a great day everyone :wave2:

My goodness, where is everyone? Must be a busy time for all. I know some of you have races this weekend, and some are just busy. :)

Vicky: Just drinking 3 small shakes a day doesn't feel good at all. I was hungry all the time. Lots of diet soda and cigarettes helped, but, yes, I was just always hungry. Really stupid of me. Harrison's doing okay. His GF got back together with him and then, broke up with him again. So, now he's just mad! He's moving on to bigger and better things.

I'm sorry the weight gain is continuing. Journaling is a great way to be held accountable. I never realize how much I eat until I write down the exact portion of each food item. Then, I'm always shocked.
I hope your shins stop hurting soon. Do you know what's causing that? Have you changed something? You need to try to stay as healthy as you can for your training.

AFM: Well, after my great start to the week, I got a little bummed last night. My monthly weigh in at zumba was yesterday. I was down 5 pounds, which is great, but I already knew that. The thing I was the most excited about was the body fat. I couldn't wait to find out how much it had gone down. Well, not only did it not go down, but it went up 1%! WTH???? I was very upset last night, but I started looking at my diet. I eat clean almost all the time now. I do, however, go off the wagon about once a week, and I do an all out junk food night. I should know better. It's obviously throwing everything off. I eat my 100 grams of protein every day, but not on that 7th day. I've lost muscle and gained fat even though I've lost weight. So, I need to get the eating completely clean again, starting tomorrow (we have minor league baseball tickets tonight and I'm not skipping my $1 beers).

Hi Leanies! :wave2:

Tandy - How were they measuring body fat at your class last night? Was it electronically on a scale? Just curious because I've heard that if you happen to drink water or eat something before weighing in, it can affect the body fat percentage. Even if you're going with the caliper tests, there are variations depending on how skilled the person administering the test is. I don't think you should give up your one day of "unclean" eating. I managed 108 g of protein yesterday! No junk either so it looks like I'll be journalling for a while!

With the running, I was trying to transition my foot strike to a mid or forefoot strike so that I'd be a lighter runner. It seems to almost translate into running on your tip toes. So the part where my foot and leg connect gets fatigued really easy. Maybe I'm stretching a bit when I say pain but I don't push too hard past the fatigue because I know it will turn into shin splints.

Aww :( Is that the girl that Harrison bought the necklace for?

AFM - I've got a quick training session tonight and that's about it. I was listening to the radio today and there was a call in with a sports psychologist who was talking about the friends and family members of triathletes and marathoners who sit on the sidelines and the toll training and can on relationships. It was quite interesting listening to people call in and say how they schedule their days around exercise and training runs. It was also good to hear that other people are pooped after doing a long run and don't like to do much else afterward, except nap. It was also interesting to hear from the people who felt ignored because training was such a priority for some of their SOs that they ended up taking care of the kids, cooking dinners, skipping social functions because of that. Or in extreme cases, some SOs would actually take up running, cycling etc. because it was the only way they could spend time with them. One woman pointed out that it wasn't the training that took up all of her husband's time but creating running routes, programming his Garmin, chatting online  and updating his blog took up the rest of his remaining free time. The psychologist said that SOs often felt conflicted about complaining because running and tris are a form of exercise and staying healthy. I never did ask my ex what he thought of my training and coming out to races (that's not why we broke up) but it was interesting to see the flip side of things.

Have a great day! :wave2:

Good Afternoon, Leanies!

Vicky -- How is your cooking class going? I believe you have another one tonight -- I wish I lived closer so I could benefit from your new knowledge! ::yes::

Tandy -- I think there is a lot that goes into how you weigh and measure on any given day. You know you are doing so well, I wouldn't let one measurement slow me down! Just decide if there are other changes you want to make, and make them -- and if not, that's ok, too. Have you seen yourself lately? I don't think you need to worry much about percentages at this point! Congratulations on reaching your weight goal, I am so proud of you! :yay:

Jackie -- I know you are mostly an AMC person, but I have a couple of breaking news abc soap updates -- Robin Strasser has announced she's leaving OLTL prior to the end to have back surgery; GH fired the head writer Bob Guza and Ingo Rademacher (Jax). I'm sure you know Thorsten Kaye is coming back to AMC, and very strong rumors Susan Lucci is going to Desperate Housewives. Perhaps that's why she's so cavalier about the end :rolleyes1

I'm  to everyone else, hopefully we'll all check in soon!

I am expecting a horrid weigh-in tomorrow morning. I haven't run all week. It has rained every day, and I have no motivation. I've also eaten everything that wasn't literally nailed down  I'm working on a huge project at work which requires other people, including state agencies, to give me documents, and it is not going well and making me crazy. Everything is due next week, and I have a real fear that it just won't all come in like it should.

Dennis is running a 5M race on Sunday and he has 3 friends (including my BIL) coming down from NH to run. They will do a bbq in my backyard afterwards, and I have zero motivation to clean anything. I finally decided I'm leaving it all to him. That's right, if it doesn't get done, it is not my problem. I am so stressed from work this week, I can't face anything else. So much so that I'm taking Ben tomorrow afternoon and we're going to POTC4 in 3D. I never shirk the house, but this time, I'm going to. I know next week will only be even more stressful, and I can't hostess Sunday and spend all day Saturday cleaning, then deal with a horrible work week.

Hopefully you guys are having a better week than I am...

Maria :upsidedow

Don't tell me I managed to kill this one, too... :headache:

Still crazy at work, still not on the TM, blew off WW Saturday morning. Saw POTC4 in 3D Saturday afternoon. Not bad, but missing Orlando Bloom...

Dennis ran a 5M Sunday with 3 buddies including my BIL. They bbq'd in the backyard and hung around far longer than I expected.

Maria :upsidedow

Maria - Wow! I hadn't heard those rumors. Hadn't had time to read my scoops board this week, or I'd have seen the news about Robin Strasser, but Susan Lucci joining Housewives... that's just too perfect. And we're anxiously waiting to see if Zach is alive or just a ghost. Really, really hoping he's alive somewhere. Sorry your week was so bad. Hope it's improved a little and you're able to get into some sort of reasonably healthy routine. And sometimes you just have to give up on the house. I was blindsided tonight - Annie's BF came over for the first time, and I had 20 minutes notice. I did at least get the dirty dishes out of the sink. :sad2:

Tandy - I agree with everyone else. I wouldn't let one number worry you too much. You know you're doing almost everything right, and I don't think one day a week is going to derail you completely. And CONGRATULATIONS on reaching your goal weight! :woohoo:

Vicky - One of our favorite running stores is hosting the Mizuno truck Thursday night. They'll let us borrow a pair of shoes and do the weekly run in them. We're going to go and see what's available. I try to alternate purchases between them and RW anyway. Hope you can figure out your leg/shin pain quickly. I've been doing the balancing on one foot to strengthen that area of the leg.

Annie and I went to Williamsburg this past weekend for the Run for the Dream 8K (and Half.) After Monday night's track workout, my hips had hurt all week, so I didn't run again until the race Saturday morning. I made a very responsible decision to walk the race with another WISHer, rather than run it and risk doing season-ending damage. The finish was a lap around the track, so I ran that 400m, but that was the only portion that I ran. Of course, Wendy walks at an amazing pace, so our average was around a 13:45 (I've run races slower than that!), but my hips didn't hurt afterward. My shins, on the other hand, were screaming in pain Sunday morning. Completely different muscles involved!

Went back to the track tonight, but took the entire workout at a MUCH slower pace. I'm torn between thinking there's something seriously wrong with both hips, or thinking I'm just trying to do too much too soon. Since it's cheaper to go with option B, I'm going to try to take it easy for a couple of weeks and see what happens!

Jackie

Hi Leanies! It was a long weekend for us in Canada so I decided to take a break from posting on DIS, emails, texting, etc. Pretty much anything Internet related ... but I did sneak in a few FB posts

Jackie - That's pretty awesome that you can borrow a pair of shoes and give them several test runs. Our local running store lets us take the shoes home and run on the TM once or twice but it's really hard to tell whether a shoe is any good after a couple of runs. Awesome pace on your walk btw! I'm always amazed at the pace fast walkers keep because like you said, I sometimes don't even run that fast. I'm going to go with option B too and say to slow down your running. I hate doing that myself but have to remember that it's better to run slowly uninjured than not to run at all. Are you still seeing your physio?

Maria - If you lived near me, you'd probably get roped into my test kitchen group! I sometimes bring stuff to work but it's hard to tell if people genuinely like something or if they're eating it because it's there (and free). I didn't have a class last Friday because Monday was a holiday. I think the instructors probably have it in their contract to take the Friday of a long weekend off. I wish I had known ahead of time - I would have made plans to get out of town. I baked a couple of things anyway - a red velvet cheesecake brownie and "Hostess" cupcakes. The cupcakes were actually kind of cute! I'll email you a picture :)

I hear ya on the rain! That's all we've had lately too so I'm trying to squeeze in running in between rain showers so it's not always easy. Sorry to hear about the work craziness! You must be looking forward to the long weekend! How long did the guys end up staying over? I hope there wasn't too much cleaning up to do afterward.

Cindy - I saw your photos on FB! How was the race?

Beth - How are things with you? Have you had your surgery scheduled yet?

Debra - I know you're out there ;) How was Disney? I need a Disney fix since my next trip is months and months away.

Tandy - How was the baseball game? Did you start your clean eating plan again?

AFM - I saw my trainer last week who watched me do a couple of hip and glute exercises and said .. "You know, you don't really bend your right knee..." Really? So he had me stand in front of the mirror while I did some one legged jumping exercises and he was right. I didn't really think much about it until I was running on the weekend and noticed that I don't really bend the right knee much. I don't know how it's possible to run without much knee bend ... but I wonder if that explains why my left side always gets injured. Or maybe all the work in the last year has just made the left side a lot stronger. Anyway, I had a pretty good 5 miler on Saturday - that's been my longest run since I started running again. I went out again yesterday after the gym but had stomach cramps. Go figure because it was right after my workout so I hadn't eaten anything. So my intervals went down to something like 1/1 because I'd get sharp stomach pains everytime I'd start running. On the positive side, I didn't have any knee, back, shin or ankle pain  I guess being warmed up does make a difference

Eating wise ... I journaled everything last week and made an effort to stop eating after 8PM. I tried to eat about 100 g of protein each day - it definitely wasn't easy and my breakfast shake helped. I did have a couple of my cupcakes on my cheat day and went out for steak dinner that day. And since it's also TOM, I figured at best I'd be lucky to stay even. I weighed in this morning and the scale said I was down 2.4 lbs! My first thought was that it must be broken... :rolleyes1 So I guess I just have to keep up with the clean eating, journaling and running. I wasn't even running quickly - I guess it's just about the consistency!

Have a great day everyone! :wave2:

Tandy: I'm thinking of you with all the storms reported in your area. I pray that you are safe.

Good Afternoon, Lovely Lean Ones!

Cindy -- I'm with you, Tandy please check in so we know you're ok! Dennis is doing the Run to Remember on Sunday. Me, I'll be on the deck with a smoothie...:rotfl:

Vicky -- I was surprised, we had guests until after 5 -- and they were hungry! :rotfl: I think clean eating, journalling and running is a great strategy to meet your goals :thumbsup2

Jackie -- How are you feeling? I hope you are right, and you just need to slow yourself down and not try to do so much! ::yes::

I'm physically and mentally relaxing (though still at work, hopefully not for long). I finished my massive project, I did a conference call for a presentation I'm giving next week, and I told my boss I'm taking a sick day tomorrow since I'm totally fried. I am so looking forward to a 4-Day weekend!

My BIL and SIL will be down tomorrow at 6pm to have dinner with us before they catch a plane for France. They're off on a 3-week adventure. I admit I am jealous

So proud of DS -- he received a Certificate of Achievement on the National Latin Exam! He took the exam for 1st year students, Introduction to Latin. I guess they take it seriously, since it's in the name of the school and all :lmao:

Tomorrow I am baking blueberry angel squares (angel food cake and blueberry pie filling), running 5M doing intervals (haven't seen those in far too long ), and watching the first disc of The Tudors, Season 4. I will clean a little for SIL, but things are still fairly presentable from last weekend.

Anyone have exciting plans for the long weekend (I know it's not long for you, Vicky, but you could have something fun planned!

Maria :upsidedow

Hey guys. I'm fine. Lots of tornado warnings and hiding in the basement, but so far, so good. I really feel for those poor people in Joplin though.

I have no time to post. My brother and his family are visiting starting today. Lots of cleaning and school ended yesterday. I will try to post more later.

Good morning ladies. I hope everyone had a good Memorial day weekend. We had company, and then, spent a lot of time at the pool. Lots of fun. Harrison even had a campout in the backyard with a friend of his. They had a campfire and had hot dogs and smores.

We have had the worst weather. Thanks everyone for your concern. The tornadoes have been crazy. So far, there have only been 2 occasions here where we had the sirens going off. Once was about 10:30 on a Saturday night, and most of my neighbors just slept through it. The other was during the middle of the day last Wednesday. I was volunteering all day at Harrison's school and we all had to cram into this tiny room. It was all 100 5th graders, all the teachers and about 30 parent volunteers! The poor kids had to stay in that head tucked position for a full hour. They were miserable! But, we've been really fortunate to have no touchdowns. Some were very close and in other suburbs of KC, but none in Shawnee. Those poor people in Joplin! It's just horrible.

Maria: Congratulations to your son! That's wonderful. How was the visit from the inlaws? Are these good inlaws or evil inlaws? ;) Is work going to stay relaxed for awhile, or are you on to the next project?

Cindy: Thanks for your concern. We're all good! :thumbsup2

Vicky: Congrats on the weight loss. I absolutely do better when journaling. Otherwise, I just don't realize how much I put in my mouth. It's great that you were able to run 5 miles. Do you get to start training this week for that 30k?
The zumba instructor was using the hand held body fat machine, which I don't trust, but she informed me that she uses it at all of the health fairs she runs and it's accurate!:confused3 Yes, the girl that has now dumped my son twice was the one he bought the necklace for. Grrrrrr! He's better off. I just keep reminding him of this. He's doing a lot better now that school's out.

Jackie: I would lean more towards the 'doing too much too soon' side. I could be wrong (I am not a doctor), but you are so motivated that I think you can really push yourself. I am so glad you opted to walk the race. Are the shins better? I hurt more everytime I walk, so I understand. I love Williamsburg. Frank's family colonized the town, so they have their own house in the historic district. It's fun to get to go behind the ropes and get the private tour (even though I don't count in their little blueblood family tree). ;)

AFM: Because my brother, sis in law and niece were visiting this weekend, I didn't run much. Because Harrison's teacher had this huge project for me for the last 2 weeks, I didn't run much then, either. But, school ended Thursday, my brother is gone, Memorial Day weekend is over, and I'm running 11 or 12 today. :thumbsup2 I can't wait. In fact, as soon as I get off here, I'm out the door. Then, when I get back, we're heading back to the pool. I have already managed a pretty good tan. Harrison, of course, must wear spf 70!
I start school on Monday, which is pretty exciting and scary. I have almost all my books. I had to order a couple of work books online from the school and will be picking those up tomorrow. I finished Galloway's book a couple of weeks ago, so that class should be easy. I am surprised at how little I agree with him, though. I think everyone's different, but he really believes that everyone is better off with the run/walk method. :confused3

Well, hopefully I've managed to catch up with everyone. I will be on here more now, I promise!

Hi Ladies! I am back for a visit.

I took part in a marathon relay a couple weekends ago. It was really fun. I ran a 5.5 mile portion and finished in less than an hour. I almost ran the entire thing, but there was one giant up hill right at the beginning, so I took a walk on that part for a while, I figure that helped me to finish.

I have been doing a lot more running lately. It has been nice to finally be able to get outside. I hear you all complaining about the heat, but it snowed here on Monday. I had to wear my winter running clothes! But I would probably rather run in 40 degrees with no humidity than 90 with, but I am ready for summer!

I have not been doing well with my weight. I hit the 30 pounds lost mark back in the middle of March. I have maintained (with a little hiccup this month after a vacation) but I would really like to lose a ton more. I am setting my new month resolutions today. Hopefully I will have good things to report.

So far I am signed up for the DL half in September, and the Las Vegas Rock and Roll in December. Hoping to smash my PR now that I am running better.

Hope you are all doing great. Happy June 1!

Hey Manda. Happy to see you. It sounds like your running is going great! Good job.:thumbsup2 The weight will follow. Once you hit a certain level, it's almost impossible not to have a little plateau followed by a gain. I do it all the time. ;) Just keep it up.

AFM: Well, I didn't get my 11 miler in. I did 5 instead. Kind of felt like I wimped out a little, but it's humid as can be! I just did 4 today and it is 73 degrees with 80% humidity. I'm about to get on the scale and bet I lost a lot of water. I went to zumba last night and was told I'm the new assistant for 2 months. My instructor is going back to school (same school and courses I'm taking, but she's got to take them at night), so her assistant is taking over. That means that I'm in charge when the new instructor is sick or takes vacation. I think I can handle it at this point.

The big formal fundraiser is tomorrow night. I'm so excited. Frank isn't because it's outside, he's in a tux, and we're hitting a high tomorrow of 95! Poor baby. We're now rethinking the tux. He may end up going in his tuxedo shirt, vest and bow tie, and some shorts or swim trunks with flip flops. It's creative black tie, and lots of the guys do this for fun, so he won't look like a fool. I'm fine because my dress is above the knee and strapless. Not much fabric at all!;) I'm just worried about these shoes. We measured them and they're 5 inches! Plus, they're really uncomfortable. I'm bringing an extra pair of really comfortable 4 inch heels that I dance in, but I want the pictures with my leopard print from head to toe! I guess I can handle anything for a few hours, right? After all, I ran Goofy! :thumbsup2

I hope everyone's doing well and handling the heat okay. Hope to hear from you all soon. :)

Good Morning, Leanistas!

I ran 2M yesterday and 3M today, I plan to do 4 tomorrow and 6 on Saturday. I'm getting ready to ramp back up to 10 every week in July, before my next Half at the beginning of August.

I will spare you the details, but I had a run in with my pastor last night who thought I should have done something I did not think I should do. Sigh. Organized religion definitely has it's drawbacks :rolleyes1 This still has me upset, and I don't have the time or inclination to want to be this stressed from my volunteer work. My paid work is stressful enough, thank you.

I'm leaving work at 11:45 so I can make it to a presentation I'm giving this afternoon. The good thing is when I'm done I can just go home. I have 3 baskets of :laundy: just waiting for me to fold them, and season four disc 2 of The Tudors, calling my name. I should get through one episode before ds gets home. Can't watch that with him in the house!

Tandy -- Congrats on your elevation in Zumba! I think you will enjoy it. Your fundraiser sounds like a really good time, I don't know how you dance in 4 in heels, let alone 5! :worship: The SIL and BIL who were here are nice, it just doesn't occur to them it's an inconvenience to park their car in our garage for 3 weeks while they go to Europe. We have a 1-car garage, so our car has to sit out in the weather. DH chauffeurs them to and from the airport, it's a sweet deal for them. I don't even know what parking would be, but I have a feeling it wouldn't be -- ok, I just looked it up, and it's $18 per day. I think I should be getting a souvenir for that! :confused3 I'm ramping up for my next big project, at least lately they've only been one at a time, which is nice for my sanity!

Manda -- Hi, Good to see you! Glad you are running again! :cool1:

:wave2: to Cindy, Vicky, Jackie, Jeanne, Beth, Debra -- How are you guys?

Maria :upsidedow

Happy Monday ladies!!
My first day of school is officially over. I still have 4 prelabs and studying for chemistry, but I took my 2 classes, went to my lab, and finished my algebra homework already. I'm incredibly confused about this online running class, but will probably wait until tomorrow to work more on that. I just don't understand how it all works.

Oh, and yes, I am the oldest person in all of my classes! I am older than my algebra professor and am already sharing old timer stories with my chemistry professor.

I got up at 4:30 to go running this morning. I can only run 3 miles on school days because it's only safe and lit up with street lights for that long. But, it's nice to be done exercising by 5.;)

If I manage to get all my chemistry work done today, I get to reward myself with a zumba class. We'll see.

Maria: Boy, you are nice to give up the garage for the inlaws. I can honestly say that I wouldn't. I'm sorry the pastor is an issue. I have had so many problems with things like that. It's why my hubby isn't in to organized religion. I can't help myself though. I need it!

Oh, I almost forgot. Friday night's event was amazing! We had the best time ever. There were tasting from over 100 area restaurants, and all the very top ones at that. I had a hard time at first with the vegetarian thing, but then, Frank and the other couple we were with started scoping stuff out for me that was meat free! There was also an open bar with some of my favorite drinks, so it was definitely a good time. My dress turned out to be gorgeous. I will post a link when they get the website updated with pictures. We didn't even bring a camera. Frank looked gorgeous, but it was 95 degrees and he fried! He had a great time despite it.

Hope to hear from you all soon.
