Actually this is a non-working vent.
Here's basically what's been going on:
I'm currently unemployed & looking to get a waiting job while I'm getting ready to go to school to get my BA (I currently have an AA & AAS).
I've probably done 7 interviews in the past couple weeks. It seems like every place that wants to hire me right away is a place that I wouldn't make money at. The places that I would make enough money at can't seem to get their act together.
One place is really laid back & more of a fun atmosphere. A uniform wouldn't be much of an issues since they wear any type of shoes & pants & a resturant t-shirt. I dropped off an application & was told to talk to them on Friday (11/29). I came in & took a personality profile (but not really an interview), the manager said they had to fax it to corporate, but that their fax machine wasn't working & to come back on Monday (12/2) & she said if it still wasn't working that they'd figure something out. I come back on Monday, she's sick & says that the fax machine is still down & that they should have it up & running "Wednesday, Thursday at the latest" & I should expect a call then. Wednesday, no call. Thursday no call. I call today (get a different manager) & was told that it's still down & they should have it up on Monday & they'll call people back when it's ready.
Then there's another restuarant, this one is pretty nice & I'd make plenty of money. I dropped off an application on Wednesday before Thanksgiving & I was told to come back on Monday (12/2). I did & there was no manger there to talk to. I was asked to come back on Wednesday (12/4) & when I did I was told that the manager had to run to another store & to come back on Friday. I went in today & talked to a manager (he said that he didn't have a chance to read my application since he didn't know I was coming). He said that I could expect to make a nice amount of money (their entrees are steak, lobster, prime rib & they have over 20 single malt scotches that they carry). He said that training is 8 days long (8 days straight) & that I need to do a second interview & asked me to come in at 4:30 on Monday(12/9), which more than likely means I'll have to wait until (12/16) to start & it will be (12/24) before I make any tips!
Uggh
