I think that would depend on the nature of the business, and if they will be in an office location during all work hours. If you were a plumber, a cell would make more sense, because if you are good at it, you are often out of the office on service calls. Most people I know that own their own business do so because of the flexibility of hours and work location. I know several psychologists who do competency evaluations. They are generally in their office or an office type setting for the interview itself (usually over webex) but can otherwise work where ever they want. So a landline wouldn't be idea for that. If your business is a bakery, and you will have a brick and mortar location, then sure, a landline would work.

I considered that and it IS a good idea. However, I'll be perpetually on the move - I will be travelling to client's houses, where they are most comfortable.

Interestingly, I can get all three of my choices for MORE money BUT on a monthly basis so I don't really have a contract and can get out of payments like *that*… and I'll get insurance and a guarantee. So I can get a nice phone and upgrade in a matter of weeks if a better one comes out without sacrificing any additional money.

A cell also lets potential customers inquire by text if that's more comfortable for them than calling.

VoIP landlines also have texting.

Rumor has it that the new iPhone 16 will be coming out September 10th, so the older ones should drop in price a little at that time. That’s only a little over a month away. You might be able to get a iPhone 15 Pro for the price the 14 Pro is going for right now if you wait, and it would have some abilities the 14 doesn’t have. I have the 14 Pro Max, and love it, but I know the AI stuff is restricted to the 15 Pro and newer models.

Decided on a Samsung Galaxy Z Flip phone. It ticked all the right boxes. Compared to the larger flip phone, it's much cheaper, has all the functionality I need, dual SIM card slots, looks cool and came at the right price. Also I think the lilac colour is quite funky Splashed out £8 and got a leather case for it.
