wait-- you are saying there are only 8 possible words in wordle that don't contain at least one of the five letters in that second option? How is that possible?
I didn't say anything. Wordlebot did. And what it means is after I played my first word, there were only 8 solutions left. That won't happen all the time. But it did today. Hence why Wordlebot said It was lucky today. Wordlebot has all the solutions. I don't. And there are more potential words that will fit than than their are solutions. By the way if you play a word that isn't a possible solution wordlebot will tell you you have a nice vocabulary but that wasn't a potential solution.
3 notes.
1. The best word to play knowing all the solutions as wordlebot does may not be the best word to play not knowing them as we humans don't.
2. Wordlebot doesn't take play style into account. Some people are best if they find out the vowels first and thus play a vowel heavy word first. Others may do better with a different mix for their first word.
3. BTW you can only use Wordlebot AFTER you are finished to analyze how you did. It is not available during play.
Edit. I went to wordlebot before I played today and have more info The Expected number of solutions left after the first word I played is 119. So that's why Wordlebot said 8 was lucky.
The second word wordlebot played was not a possible solution left. In other words, Wordlebot played a throw away to reduce possibilities, I did not. I got it on a 13% chance according to Wordlebot. Wordlebot chose a 2nd that had the maximum chance to reduce the possibilities but had no chance at a 2. In golfing parlance, I went for a par 5 in two, wordlebot laid up. As stated before I do prefer going for it in early rounds. If it's round 4 and I'm in danger of losing, then I'll use a throw away word more often than not so as not to lose.
