Word usage?

Tonight there was a lady at church who used the word Ick and Yuck Her hubby told her to talk like an adult.

Do you think those are adult or child words?

Ick and Yuck are for casual converstation. I wouldn't use them in a formal setting or during a job interview. If the conversation was between the lady and her husband, that's one thing, it it was with the minister and a group of elderly parishoners, that another. Either way, no need to reprimand a person in front of others.

Words are words - and unless I was cussing up a storm, I would have been very aggravated if I were that woman for her DH to be making such an issue out of it.. Sounds like he enjoys cutting her down and speaking to her in a condescending manner in front of others.. Maybe he's the one with the "immaturity" problem..
