I’m like, what is woot?
Woot is a clearance outlet ... sorta like Overstock.com. Their model in the early days:
  • Flat rate, $5 shipping on any order. The first thing you ordered on any given day gave you free shipping on all orders placed within that same day.
  • No search feature ... you had to comb through their minimalist webpages to dig for bargains.
  • "Woot Off!" a periodic price slashing that worked sorta like a Dutch Auction. Only one item sold at a time; priced with a sharp discount. Created a feeding frenzy: Grab it while it is still available! Once that one item was gone the site quickly moved to the next item.
  • "Bag of Crap" during "Woot Off!" cycles. An undisclosed item, or set of items, sold for a flat, low rate (initially $5; now $10). You had no idea what might show up ... early days saw flat screen TVs ... my more recent "BoC" had a 2TB USB drive, a delightful thermal shirt (wore the heck out of it this past winter), and the other stuff.
Some years back Woot was purchased by Amazon. The benefits:
  • Those with Amazon prime could now waive the $5 shipping fee.
  • Items are now linked to their Amazon reviews.
  • Returns are easier (??).
The site has been around for years ... playing the Woot-Off cycles is great fun. :)

Sounds interesting...

I have the backpack (the different version, sold by Disneyland directly that is a parks exclusive and is a different color). I'm wondering if I should get these...lol

I really miss the old days, they have some pretty amazing deals you hand to stalk the website and wait for the update and then jump fast. The days of the Bag of Crap were a blast never knew what you'd get - good times. While the Amazon purchase cleaned things up Wood lost its creative "fun" edge to corporate now for me.

@SteveH, I found it interesting that when attempting to describe Woot, I couldn't not do so without starting with reference to its former self.

Me: hmmm I really have enough Disney bags and purses.
Also me: you haven’t bought any Disney merch in so long and you were looking for a new purse just last night. Treat yo’ self!

Thanks for sharing!

So I wore my Mickey Canteen bag around Disneyland for the re-opening on 4/30 and at DCA/VGC this past weekend. The bag catches quite a few comments ... but, curiously, mostly from Cast Members, "I've never seen that bag!" When I show them the lining with the "65th Anniversary" print ... they are shocked. Seriously. DLR's whole 65th Anniversary slipped into the black hole that was 2020, the year that wasn't.
