And then go to Disney!

Wow.I'm sure we'll see ya. We'll be in a 33ft Forrest River TT.

Just curious ...wondered when you stay that long do you folks have AP passes or do you not visit the parks every day..I would imagine that would be quite expensive. I would love to be in a position to take that much time..haven't yet been able to get my husband to tow down to FW from NY..we want to take at least 10 to 14 days..as we'd like to take 2 days going down and two days going back and still have a week or more at FW. Hope you don't mind my noisy inquiry...?

All 6 kids, myself and my husband all have annual passes. We renew them every July. Hubby tows camper down (8 hour trip) and sets it up the day before the rest of us leave home. He will spend one or two nights and then leave to come back home. We own our own company, so someone has to be here. He does come back down every 3 weeks for a few nights, but this summer he will not be doing that. We are starting an addition on our house and he is the licensed contractor. As for the parks, we only head to them when the afternoon shower is over or the sun starts going down. Whatever park is open late for EMH is the park we go to. During the day, all 5 of the younger kids usually sleep till noon (even the 4 yo). The 4yo and I will head to the pool and the others are usually lurking somewhere near the pool. On the days that there is no park open late, we have a sing a long/fireworks on the beach/water parade/back to the pool night. My kids are 4, 7, 8, 9 and 11. The oldest will be 20 this summer and lives on his own, goes to college and works full time, so he does not go with us. My parents usually come down in their motor home about half way thru the trip to give me a break from the youngest. She does not care for the rides or the parks at this time but loves to stay at the campground. With my parents there, I get the chance to ride the rides with the older kids. I bring my car because we have to do grocery runs and I also drive to every park except the MK. I also tow a trailer down with our own golf cart so that saves money. We eat most of our meals at the camper, also saving our money. The Disney Visa is maxed out every month (with business expenses) and paid off every month, usually providing us with about $500.00 in reward dollars for food in the parks if we want to eat there. I have always had one rule for the little ones, starting way back to our one week trips. You can pick anything you want, under $25.00, on the last night out only. Last summer was the first that I have stayed that long and the kids really hated that rule! :teeth:

I knew one other person who went for 3 weeks in the summer. Her husband worked for the shcools and that is also when he had his vacation. Although they didn't have the AP's. I'd love to be able to get one visit to the campground. We have been going to Disney for years. My kids are 14 and almost 19 now. We started when the 14 year old was only six weeks old. It has been almost 3 years since our last visit though. We also have an older son who is 25 now. He too lives on his own. A great thing about our last visit..was that he booked and paid for his own room at the WL and that gave us twice the amount of room..as one of the younger kids usually stayed with him each night. He is actually our big camper at this point. He uses our trailer more than we do I think. He is a police officer, and every time he gets a three day swing he is at the seasonal campsite we have in upstate NY. My husband just hasn't been able to take two weeks in a row..which is what we'd like to take to go to FW with two days down and two days back for travel. We wanted to still have days there to do the parks and enjoy the campground. That's why so far we've always opted for the hotel since we would fly and be there and back in a 7 or 8 days max.
I am really getting the Disney bug again..since it's been a few years..and I'd love to be able to spend that kind of time there. I have actually thought about having my husband tow the trailer down(it's 30ft'..and I dont tow)..stay a couple of nights..fly back to Long Island to home and work..and then fly back say two weeks later..stay a bit and then tow us home. I'd likely just go with my 14 year old, and my older son could fly in when he could get the time..same with 18 year old daughter..frankly she isn't into camping much..and likely would want a room at the Lodge! Whatever(as the kids say)..I've been waiting for years to go to the campground...this is starting to sound like an option. That's why I was curious as to how you worked that out for so long a stay. Seems I'm not the only one thinking along those lines.
So I'm NOT crazy! I think I'd only bother with two AP passes..as the others wouldn't be there for the entire time. You've certainly given me something to consider.

Did you have any trouble getting that reservation? Did you have to break it up into several reservations? Regular rate?

Last summer, to get the site at the ap discount, I had to make to reservations in 10 day increments. It was a major pain in the you know what. I had to go back up front every 10 days to check back in even though the reservations were paid for. I also informed them that I could not move from that site, my tow vehicle was back in SC. For this summer, I booked July 1 to 11 last Aug, as 4th of July is usually booked quicker than the other weeks. Then I booked June 1 to July 1 on one reservation and July 11 to Aug 5 on another. I did that because of the best rate program thinking that when they opened up that time frame I could try for some discounts. Go figure that they would change things after my booking. So, as it stands, I did not have a problem booking the time frame, but I may have a problem acquiring the discounts. I am going with or without the discount, but with them is more fun. :teeth:

We have already got our full ressies for the "full" hook up for all 20 days, now we're working on piecing together our "Premium" ressies.
We go with AP's for the entire family, and we get my son the "Big Annual" (the one that gets him intio DQ and the water parks, cause he'll go alot). I agree with Auntie... we max our Disney card as well and will have about $400 in Disney Dollars, we'll eat at the RV often (particularly breakfast, which is easy in the RV) and I'll spend a week with the family, fly back to worl a week, and then fly back down to spend the 3rd week and then we'll all head back together.
Can't wait!
