Woooo-hoooo I Won With The Trip!

Stayed at the Excalibur last time for a night (it was free as my best friend's company paid for it). It was really dirty and I personally would never stay there again.

NY,NY is much better.

We're going to Vegas in June to celebrate my mom's 75th birthday. We're all staying at the Flamingo. From the reviews I've read the rooms are clean but nothing spectacular. However, the pool is consistently rated in the top 10. It's also right in the center of the strip just across from the Belliago. We got the rooms for $55 through the hotel's website. Many hotels charge for an extra person in the room no matter what the age so keep that in mind.

Also, we were in San Diego and DL in December. We didn't stay at the Hotel Del Coronado although we did visit it and the rest of Coronado. We stayed at the Paradise Pier in DL. It was a nice hotel and our room was really big.

Circus Circus :(
New York New York :D

Plan on a minimum of two days @ DL, three if your schedule allows. Stay on site at any of the resort hotels if you can. If not, there are many off-site hotels that are very nice. Watch out for hidden charges like parking, resort fees, etc. Also, many claim they are within walking distance but are not really that close. Especially when you consider you are going to be walking "miles" in the park all day!

San Diego is beautiful. Does anyone in your party have a military ID? If so, there is a Navy base on Coronado Island that has great beachfront accomodations at a fraction of what the hotels in the area charge. Also, don't forget about Seaworld, Legoland, and the world-famous San Diego Zoo!!!

Have fun and feel free to PM if you have any questions about Portland.

Definitely NO to Circus Circus, another vote for NY NY. Circus Circus seems to be very trashy and not a great place to stay. I didn't have a problem at the Excalibur, but I would love to stay at Mandalay Bay for the mini water park!!!

A vote for the Flamingo. Great location, wonderful pools. Very nice grounds with penguins and other animal exhibits. Stayed there 2 years ago with 2 young kids. They loved it. Thought the rooms were large, clean, and comfortable. A large plus to the hotel IMO, is that you can access the rooms without having to walk through the smoke-filled casino.

I would recommend the Monte Carlo. It's right on the strip near NY NY and it has a huge waterpark type pool ... and the rates are usually fairly low. We stayed at the Bellagio, loved it, and Treasure Island, loved it, so those are both good too. My Dad goes down all the time and stays at Paris, it's his favorite. He said Aladdin was OK, but not too great. OH, and he said The Venetian is the best.

Hope that helps! :)

Summer before last we took our kids to LV and stayed at several places. We had some free nights. We stayed at Mirage, Bellagio, and Mandalay Bay(we actually had to pay for this one-- and would be the cheapest of the three if we had to pay). They really liked Mandalay Bay the best. It has a game room and a great pool area-- I think it is supposed to be the biggest on the strip. There is a lazy river and a wave pool with a beach area. It is also on the end of the strip with NYNY, Excalibur(which has a great area for kids to play around in-games, etc.), MGM, and Luxor. We have stayed at Excalibur before but I'm not sure I would again unless I truly couldn't afford to pay for anything better. I wouldn't stay at Circus-Circus if it was the only way for me to go to LV-- and I LOVE Las Vegas almost as much as I love Disney.
There is also a website/messageboard that I love to go on for LV. You can get some great advice on there too.

Have a great time planning and on your trip!!

Thanks everyone for all the opinions. I have a good friend who is also helping me understand Priceline for Vegas, she says it can't be beat but I'm going to check out the various official sights as well.

I wish we could fly, I have been the route from here to Vegas before and the entire thing was BORING until we got to the Mountains which wasn't that far from Vegas. Uggh I hate it but I'm taking my one victory and running with it. There is no way I could get my PRAIRIE DOG LOVING, mother and DH to fly. UGGH! I'll just sleep. Oh and my mom can't wait to buy SILVER at all of the Indian reservation stops on the way and I guess I really do want J.C. to see the Grand Canyon. It WOWED me much more than Niagara Falls did so he should see it.

I was reading about the Queen Mary which is also something I would love to see (I'm addicted to all the HAUNTED PLACES) and I priced the rooms there and they were very reasonable.

I then went to the Reg. Beverly Wilshire.....ROTFLMBO!!!!!!! Ummmmm nope, don't think we will be staying there.....LOL!!!!!

Oh and DH took the 2 weeks off this morning so we should be going the 2nd and 3rd week of June.

Beauty....I would also recommend the New York New York hotel. The rooms are really nice/recently remodeled. I have stayed there 7-8 times. Its very themed and kid friendly.
There is a great roller coaster that goes thru the hotel. plus...you are right across the street from the Coca Cola museum/arcarde/movies and also across from the Excalibur which also has lots of fun kid things to do.

Also...I have stayed at the Disneyland hotel and the Grand Calif at Disneyland. Just go with the best price...you will NOT be disappointed. The DL Hotel has bigger rooms and nice amenities but you just can't beat the location of the GF. You walk right into the parks. 5 mins.

Have fun planning your vacation over in our side of the country.

Can't recommend anything in LV, but CA lodge is fantastic - even better than WL.

It is expensive so if you want to cut costs there are many other places within walking distance.

On one trip I stayed at Paradise Pier and Fairfield Inn. The Fairfield Inn was actually close than the Disney Paradise Pier.
