Thanks!! I know I'm getting so excited. Even Ian's getting excited, he can't wait to go! (not sure if it's because he doesn't have to work for a week or if it's because he's in disney but hey I'll take it!!)

Disney Trivia of the Day

Kilimanjaro Safaris

I have been so slacking with my trivia!! Ahhh!!

Kilimanjaro Safaris at roughly 110 acres, is almost the same size as the entire Magic Kingdom Park.

The landscaping for the savannah was one of the earliest projects completed during construction of the Park, in order to give the plant material time to take root before being subjected to all of the animal traffic upon their release into the habitat. The plants were in place for a year to eighteen months prior to animal acclimation.

The apparently random ruts in the vehicle pathway are actually very carefully designed to keep the “show” water in the road from intermingling with the “life support” water in the animal habitats.

Many of the flat-topped trees dotting the savannah are not really the African acacias they have been trimmed to resemble, but rather live oak trees with their tops flattened to resemble acacias. Real acacia trees would have had a very difficult time standing up to the constant feeding of all of the giraffes, who don’t seem to mind the switch.

One Month from Today!

One month from today will be August 12 and our Typhoon Lagoon day. When I was first planning this trip I was debating whether or not to go to one of the water parks. I didn’t know if I wanted to take a day away from the four parks. Then I thought about how much fun Ian and I had at one of the local waterparks, he liked it better than the regular park!! So that was it, we were going to a water park! And it became Typhoon Lagoon because it’s my favorite of the two and they have an awesome wave pool and we had the most fun in the wave pool at the local water park!! Ok so now really onto our plans for the day. Again we should be waking up at about 6:30am and getting ready for our day. I guess today we’d be able to sleep in a little bit cause there’s not as much getting ready to do but we’ll keep it at 6:30 for now unless we feel differently while we’re there! After getting ready time to grab our breakfast and get out that door. Typhoon Lagoon opens at 9am today so again we’ll try to be there, in line, no later than 8:30. The gates open and the mad rush begins. Hopefully this year we won’t get lost trying to find the wave pool!! Last year my family and I seriously walked around for what seemed like forever because we were lost. We eventually found the wave pool and got a good spot but geez when you get in there it really is like you’re walking around in a jungle, it’s so disorienting, at least for us it was!! So hopefully we get our seats pretty quickly and we keep them for the rest of the day!! Last year we had some problems with people but it wasn’t bad and we’ll only have 2 chairs!! I try not to take up more than we need!! Ok side not in this I’m debating whether or not I should buy a bag to use when we go to Typhoon Lagoon or just see what I have at my house. I’m very tempted to do some shopping!! Ok side note over! First thing we’re going to hit up is Crush n’ Gusher cause I believe that is going to get crowded very very quickly. I love this ride!! It scares me a little bit because I feel like I’m going to fall off but I hold on for dear life and smile my heart out!! (oh yeah I don’t scream on rides I smile like a crazy person!! Hey at least I don’t hurt people’s ears!!) Then we’re just going to make our way around and do everything we want. I do not like water slides where there are no tubes, I hate that feeling on my bottom of going down the slides so we probably won’t go on those. If Ian wants to he can and I’ll wait for him, after all he’s going to wait for me while I do my roller coasters so it’s the least I can do. I’m debating on doing Humunga Kowabunga. Now I know I just said that I don’t like waterslides without tubes but this one is a lot of fun so this may be my one exception! After doing all of our slides, whether we do them once or multiple times, we’ll head back to get some lunch!! Not sure where we’ll eat, there’s a few places we can with the quick service dinning plan, it’ll depend on where our stuff is. I’m hoping we can get our food and head back to our chairs to eat. After eating we’ll reapply sunscreen time!! Ian is quite fair and I burn pretty easily too (thanks dad for my lovely wonderful pale English skin!! I had to get that even though I’m like .2% English!!) Ok after lunch we may hit up the wave pool. I love this wave pool, it’s my absolute favorite!! The waves are so much fun! After that we’ll do Castaway Creek aka the lazy river as I like to call it!! After that it all depends on what time it is and how we feel. We may try to do some more water slides or we’ll head back to the hotel to get a shower and get ready for the rest of our night. After a quick rest at Pop we’re heading over to Magic Kingdom!! I’m hoping to do some more rides, stuff like the Jungle Cruise and the Hall of Presidents. I’m thinking of doing some of the not so popular rides because I think all of the other stuff will be too crowded by now but hey you never know we may get on some of the more popular stuff!! I’m hoping to eventually see the fairies!! As you can probably tell from my name I love fairies!! I’m sure the line will be too long now but we may head over and just take a peek! We’ll get some dinner at some point during the night. I’m planning on eating at El Pirata y el Perico but it depends on their menu because last time we went I didn’t really like what was there so this again is up for grabs. We may hit a restaurant we’ve already done, depending on how we feel. We’ve already seen Spectro and Wishes so tonight will be a ride night only! Magic Kingdom’s open until 10 tonight so we’ll have some time to do rides. After Wishes I think we’ll stay late and try to catch the Goodnight Kiss. I think it’s so cute and the first time I heard/saw it I got so excited!! So tonight will be our Goodnight Kiss night. After that we’ll head to the bus stop and back to Pop. I don’t think we’ll do our night swim tonight because we spent most of the day at Typhoon Lagoon and we’ll probably be water logged!! Today is over and tomorrow will be…Animal Kingdom (my second favorite park!!)

Great update of your plans!! You guys are going to have such a great trip!!

Typhoon Lagoon and the Kiss Goodnight!! YAY!!!!! Sounds like a real blast!!!

I count in weekends too :)

This weekend is open, the following weekend my parents are visiting and the weekend after that I'm in DISNEY! :yay:

your plans sound great! i also count in weekends. it's easier than weekdays for me! You are lucky to go to one of the water parks. DBF hates waterparks, so we won't be going, even for half a day. Oh well!

Great update of your plans!! You guys are going to have such a great trip!!

Typhoon Lagoon and the Kiss Goodnight!! YAY!!!!! Sounds like a real blast!!!

Thank you!! I hope we have so much fun!! I think we will, hey if nothing else we'll be together for an entire week and that doesn't happen because of our schedules!!

I count in weekends too :)

This weekend is open, the following weekend my parents are visiting and the weekend after that I'm in DISNEY! :yay:

Yay!! This weekend I don't have much planned, just watching some more Disney movies and playing some more Kingdom Hearts (we finished the first one and we just started the second one this past Sunday!!) Same plans for the following weekend, unless something else comes up. I think that weekend we may go see Harry Potter. I want to see it before we go and we hate going too soon after the movie opens so I think this weekend might be it!! The following weekend my family and I are going to visit my Aunt and Uncle in New York and the weekend after that we're going to Disney!! You have one less weekend than I do :sad1:

your plans sound great! i also count in weekends. it's easier than weekdays for me! You are lucky to go to one of the water parks. DBF hates waterparks, so we won't be going, even for half a day. Oh well!

Yeah plus it seems like less time than!! :rotfl: Maybe some year you'll be able to get to a waterpark. Ian really does like them and keeps asking to go back to a waterpark!

:cool1: how exciting I bet it feels so real now!! you have to be so proud your youself-- that is such a accomplishment!!!!

Thank you!! It really does seem real now!!

One Month from Today!

One month from today will be August 13 and today is Animal Kingdom day!! I’m so excited for this day, Animal Kingdom is my second favorite park right after Magic Kingdom!! I love animals and this park is just so fun and different from the other three!! Again we should be waking up around 6:30am and the park opens at 9am. Again we’ll get ready, have our breakfast on the go and head out to the buses! Hoping to get at the turn stalls no later than 8:30 but today and I think the other days as well, I have a feeling we’ll get there a bit earlier than that! After they let us in and we watch the very cute opening show we’ll fight with everyone else into the park! Usually when I go with my family we usually head right to Expedition Everest, grab a fast pass, and then head on for a ride but because Ian refuses to go on this ride as well it’ll just be me so I can use the single rider line whenever I want. I do love the line queue but to save on time and maximize our day I’ll just do a single rider line. I’ve seen the line queue before and Ian doesn’t want to go on it so we’ll forgo it this trip. Anyway back to our actual schedule, first we’re going to head over to Kilimanjaro Safaris, not sure if we’ll grab a fast pass and then head in or just head right into line. I’m thinking the line isn’t going to be that long because everyone rushes over to Expedition Everest so maybe we’ll be able to go on twice in a row. I really like this ride because I love seeing all of the animals!! Afterwards since we’re right here we’ll probably do Pangani Forest Exploration Trail. Ian’s excited to see the Gorillas. Don’t ask. I have no idea why he love monkeys, he just does!! So after Pangani we’ll probably head over to Asia and I’ll hit up Expedition Everest. Then head over to Maharajah Jungle Trek and check out the Tigers!! I love cats, I always have since I was a tiny child so seeing these beautiful creatures up close is the highlight of my day!! I’ve gotten some really great close up pictures of these guys so I’m excited to see them again!! Ian’s also excited to see the bats too!! Ok I have the shows planned throughout the day but these plans may change depending on the times for the shows. So for now I’m planning on doing It’s Tough to be a Bug, hopefully the line won’t be too long!! Next hope is to see my all time favorite daytime show at Disney, Festival of the Lion King!! I love this show…the music and the performers are amazing!! By this time we’ll probably be quite hungry so we’ll head over to Pizzafari for lunch!! After lunch it’s time to head to Dinoland, USA!! We’ll see how the line is for Dinosaur and if it’s not too long we’ll hop right in, if not then we’ll get a fast pass and come back in a little bit. After that it’s time for Primeval Whirl!! I love this ride too, it’s just so fun!! I believe that Ian will go on this one as it’s kinda like the Mouse and he can deal with that one so he’s probably going to make this one!! After Primeval Whirl we’ll head over to Finding Nemo to try and get a show in. I wasn’t going to do this one but I thought about it and it really is a cute show. I love Crush’s song, it’s so fun, but if you remember from Epcot, I do like Crush and his little son Squirt!! This next plan is a definite maybe depending on the time, Kali River Rapids. I was thinking of getting a fast pass for this and then coming back later but it all depends on the time and how we feel. You all know my aversion to being wet so if we have time to go back and change before our night time plans than we’ll probably do it, if not then it’s ok with me. Ian’s not a huge advocate for this ride either so if we skip it, it won’t be a big deal to either of us. I’ll probably try to make another trip onto EE, because I just love it so!! Ok so unfortunately AK is over, so sad. :sad1: Our next plans are up for debate because I don’t know what time it will be. If we have enough time we’ll go back to the hotel and rest and get changed, if not we’ll head right on over to Downtown Disney and DisneyQuest!! We’re doing DisneyQuest because Ian is a very big video game fan and I think he’ll have a lot of fun there, at least I hope so!! I’ve only done DisneyQuest once, quite a few years ago and I don’t remember a whole lot of it but I do remember a few rides that I really liked and must do again!! I’m hoping to get to DisneyQuest by about 4pm and stay until about 8 or 9. I think 4 or 5 hours will be enough for us, we have very specific things we want to do there so hopefully it won’t take too long. We’ll probably narrow it down even further when we get there and actually see the rides and see what we like or don’t like. Some of the things we definitely want to do are: Pirates of the Caribbean (I definitely remember this one from my last time here, it was the most fun we had here!!), Aladdin’s Magic Carpet (One of Ian’s favorite movies!!), and Buzz Lightyear’s Astroblaster (this one just looks like so much fun!!). Other than that we have a few that are a maybe if they look cool but these three are a definite must!! We'll eat at DisneyQuest too. Luckily the counter service place here is on the dinning plan, so that makes it pretty easy!! After DisneyQuest we’ll head over to the Marketplace for some shopping!! Of course we must go into the World of Disney Store. If I find things in the parks that I like and I think they’ll be here I’m going to wait and buy it all here because I have a 10% off thing with AAA, so very cool. I’m definitely going to hit up that Tren-D store, it looks very awesome!! And of course the Christmas store!! Ian really wants to see the Lego sculptures so we’ll head over to that store as well!! And if anything else hits our fancy than we’ll go into those as well!! So that’s the end of our plans for tonight. DTD is open until 11 tonight so I’m thinking 3 or 4 hours should be enough to shop, I can be determined if I want to!! After that we’ll head back to Pop and into bed, tonight is probably going to be our latest night but that’s ok!! So onto bed and the welcome relief of sleep after our busy day!! Tomorrow…Magic Kingdom!!

Disney Trivia of the Day

Harambe

In Africa there is a bench with an engraving of “Uhuru 1961” on it. Uhuru means freedom in Swahili and this bench illustrates the element of the history that has been created for Harambe. The dating on this bench refers to an important political change that took place that year, and ties into all of the decisions subsequently made during its development since. The unspecified freedom gained during the fictional events of 1961 put the decision-making in the hands of the people of Harambe, allowing for the rethinking of the town’s economic development and interaction with its natural surroundings.

If you look at the paving at the entry to Harambe near the corner ice-cream stand, you’ll see the remnants of the old city walls. According to our history, Harambe was once surrounded by a fortress perimeter, but the only remaining signs are the footprints of the old walls in the dirt. This layering of history, while subtle, informs our perception of the age of a place.

It’s very important that it be clear that the Harambe the Imagineer chose to present is fully part of the modern world. The new power lines strewn about over the top of the old buildings, the “Computer Training” graphic on the wall, and the satellite dishes on the rooftops tell this part of the story.

Oh Ian and I also started buying some of our stuff to take with us on our trip!! Here's what we bought so far!
DSCN1174.jpg

That envelope in the front is our customized maps. I was debating on getting them but they're just so cute! Oh and I have an amazing story about how Ian is getting more excited about Disney!! We ordered the maps and they have my last name on them so Ian mentioned that we could order more with his last name on them and then get them framed so we would have them!! OMG, he wants to do something with Disney!! He thinks it'll be a nice reminder of our first trip together and that it'll be nice to have hanging up when we have kids, so they can look at them!! I love it!! I got so excited about that!!

i love reading all of your details plans so far!! You have less than a month wow!! its getting down to the wire for you:) I will have to check out the Trend-D store-- i am not sure if i have been there before?:confused3 I love that you already starting getting your tolietry items for your trip! Thanks!! Tren-D just opened this year, I've never been but it sounds really cute! Yeah we figured if we start getting stuff now it won't seem like we're spending as much money!! :rotfl: I know i have all of these really cute clothes and I refuse to wear them. Oh well. I'll wear them at Disney and they I'll wear them next summer so I can buy all new cute things to wear on vacation!! You can order the maps from Disney's website. They're free and a cute little momento!! Unfortunatly they print them on both sides, for instance MK will be on one side and Epcot will be on the other. So this is another reason we want to order the other set!!

One Month from Today!

One month from today will be August 14 and our last full day at Disney. :sad1: Today we will start our day off with Magic Kingdom. I wasn’t really planning on keeping Magic Kingdom until the end, it just kinda worked out that way and I was a little worried about it but we are going to Magic Kingdom two nights previously so I think it’ll all work out. Again Magic Kingdom opens at 9am so we’ll be getting up at around 6:30 to get ready and grab our breakfast to go. We’ll probably get to the park earlier but our goal is the usual, 8:30 at the turn stalls. I’m actually a little lost planning what we’re going to do first because Space Mt is closed. I’m debating on whether or not to go to Fantasyland first and do that stuff or hit up Buzz Lightyear. I think we may do Buzz first and if Ian really likes it we’ll get a fast pass for later. Then hit up Fantasyland. I don’t have a real plan for which ride to do first just kinda walk down the road and do the rides along the way!! I’m excited to do Mickey’s Philharmagic, I love this show because of all the Disney music!! I love me some Disney music!! Ian has also agreed to go on It’s a Small World on the condition that I never sing the song again!! Of course I’m sure he’ll forget that and I’ll be singing away once again!! Since Haunted Mansion is next on the way we’ll stop there. This is also one of my favorite rides. I love the updates they did, I think they actually make the story apparent now!! (Jen are you ready to explore that attic!!) Next we’ll head on through Frontierland and grab a fast pass for Splash Mountain. I’m assuming at this point it will be too crowded to just wait in line for the ride so fast pass it is and we’ll head back later to ride it. I’m hoping to jump on Big Thunder Mt. as well without a fast pass. We’ve rarely ever had to use a fast pass for this before but we also haven’t been to Disney in August in quite a few years so we’ll see how things go. We may have to wait until after our Splash fast pass and get one for BTMR. Ian has actually agreed to maybe give this one a shot as well!! Woohoo I’ll get him on ANOTHER roller coaster!! Haha, we may have to watch it go past a few times before he makes up his mind but I think he can handle this one! After BTMR it’s on to Adventureland!! And of course the first ride there is…Pirates of the Caribbean!! Again I like the updates they did, they didn’t really change the ride too much and it’s still a classic. I can’t wait for Ian to see this one, he like the movies so I think he’ll really enjoy it!! Maybe while we’re here we’ll see Captain Jack’s Pirate Tutorial!! I want to see this while we’re here so if we haven’t seen it by now on one of our previous trips to MK then we’ll do it sometime today. By now it’s going to be time to eat. I’m planning on eating at Pecos Bill for lunch and lucky us we’ll be right there in Adventureland!! After dinner we’ll walk over to the Railroad and take a ride. Not sure if we’ll do the whole trip first, we may have already done it on previous nights but anyway eventually we’ll end up at Mickey’s Toontown Fair! We’re of course going to tour it and visit Minnie and Mickey’s houses and visit Mickey!! I may see how the line is for the Fairies too but from what I read the line gets really really long, so we’ll see. We may hit the Railroad again and go back to Frontierland to do Jungle Cruise (maybe) and the Enchanted Tiki Room (maybe, I’m not so into this one so if we’re not feeling it, it’s not going to happen). Right after this I start jumping all over the place when I did my planning, I’m not sure why I think I was trying to get the rides that fill up out of the way and then go back to the other ones, not too sure, I can’t remember from when I started planning!! So anyway, as I have it written down next we’ll do the Hall of Presidents. Then back to Tomorrowland and hit of the Monster’s Inc Laugh Floor and the Carousel of Progress. I love the Carousel of Progress, my family doesn’t really like it and ends up falling asleep but I can ride this ride over and over!! There’s a great big beautiful tomorrow shinning at the end of every day!! Sometime during our trip I want to ride the Monorail too, I’m not sure if they allow people to ride up in the front anymore since the accident but if they do then I’m going to try to do that, if not it’ll just be nice to take a ride. Not sure where I’m going to fit this in during our trip but I think we’ll figure something out!! Today we need to get back to the room to at least change our clothes and freshen up a little bit because tonight is our night at LeCellier!! And we don’t want to show up all smelly, do we! So that’s our plans for tonight. I managed to get an ADR for 6:15, so it works out perfectly!! We figure even if we take two hours to eat (very unlikely but hey you never know we may just have fun relaxing and enjoying ourselves at dinner!) After that we’re going to walk over to our regular spot (well my family’s regular spot!) for Illuminations. We usually go to that area inbetween Canada and Mexico. I figure 45 minutes should be plenty of time to get a spot! Then Illuminations!! I love this show too!! (Gee I really like Disney shows, huh!) I left this show for the last night because whenever I see it I think it would be so amazing to watch with a significant other. I don’t know why, just a feeling I get. I think the dinner and Illuminations is the perfect way to end our vacation, very nice and relaxing. So after Illuminations we’ll take a slow walk out of Epcot and enjoy our last night there. When we get back to Pop we’ll see how we feel and maybe take our nightly swim. We do have to pack tonight because we’ll be dropping our luggage at the airline check in tomorrow morning! :sad1: So after packing we’ll settle down and have our last sleep at Disney. :sad2: Tomorrow is our departure day!

Ok so here's two pictures from our December 1999 trip!! Now my dad always said from like our first trip to Disney that he would be in Disney for on New Years Eve for the milenium. My mom always just laughed and was like no way is that going to happen! Well fastforward to December 31st 1999 and guess where we were? Disney World!! My dad got his wish and we all got to spend the beginning of the milenium at Disney!!

Disney Trivia of the Day

Maharajah Jungle Trek

The Maharajah Jungle Trek is in the ruins of a former sultan’s palace. It has lived a dual life over the years, at one point it was a hunting retreat where painted murals detailed the mastery of Man over the beasts he conquered, currently it is a protected animal sanctuary that show s the effects of the mastery of nature over the works of Man. The walls have been broken down by centuries and exposure to water. There are towers and smaller structures that have been practically disassembled by the force of the trees growing from inside. The aviary was formerly an interior space, a grand ballroom, as indicated by the decorative tiles on the floor and the formal columns in the middle of the room.

In the mural that flank the entrance and exit of the tiger-viewing rotunda are four former kings of Anandapur are depicted, each evoking through his stance and his dress different periods in the life of the palace. The first is a hunter, who moves out into the country to build the palace and hunt for game. The next king represents the sensual pleasures, with an urban view toward material wealth. Next is the conqueror who restores the temple after the damage of time and wars. Lastly, the hermit king flees to the forest, hiding from the people and suffering at the whim of nature.

One Month from Today!

One month from today will be August 15 and our departure day. I’ll probably be quite depressed this morning. I don’t want to leave Disney!! So we are going to be waking up a little bit earlier today because we need to finish packing and check in at the airport check in thing. Thank goodness our airline is a participating one!! I’m thinking of maybe going to Magic Kingdom again but I’m not sure. I guess we’ll go to whatever park we want to finish stuff up in. I really want to have the last park we leave be Magic Kingdom so I can see my Castle one last time!! I don’t want to leave my Disney World!! So as you can tell this day is quite up in the air. I do have our last lunch planned at Cosmic Rays so I think if we do go to a different park it will only be for a little bit in the morning and then we’ll head over to Magic Kingdom for lunch and perhaps a few rides. Our flight leaves at 5:30pm today so we have to leave the Magic Kingdom by like 1/1:30. So anyway after we have lunch and do a few rides I’ll say my last goodbye to the Castle and Magic Kingdom. Then we’ll head back to Pop and pick up our carryons that we’ll leave at the front desk at Pop. After that we’ll just wait for the Magical Express bus to come. I believe they pick you up around 3 hours before your flight so they should be picking us up around 2:30. Sadly we’ll say goodbye to Pop and then to Disney World. I’m going to be really upset on this day. Our vacation is over and we have to leave Disney World. We’ll go to the airport and board the plane. Hopefully this flight will be better for Ian because he’s already been on a plane and hey he might even like flying!! Not likely. We have a layover again in Atlanta and then it’s time to head on home. I’ll end up staying at Ian’s that night and the next day is Sunday so we can spend the Disney blues together. I hate unpacking so I’ll definitely put that off as long as possible!! It will be fun to give my family the gifts I bought them. I love giving people things. I’m going to make it seem before I go that I don’t have the money to buy they things so they’ll be really surprised when I get home. I love surprising people and giving them gifts!! Plus when I get home it’s time to start my trip report!! I’m so happy that I got to go to Disney with Ian and hopefully start the obsession in him!! Well I am not done with my one month from today posts so I guess you’ll just have to wait until I get home to see if any of these plans actually stuck and see if I answer any of those questions and possibilities that I posted earlier!!

Disney Trivia of the Day

Kali River Rapids

The River you ride down in Kali River Rapids is called the Chakranadi River which is Sanskrit for “river that flows in a circle”.

The souvenirs of Imagineers from the Asia team can be found on one of the paddles on the wall of the booking office in the queue.

The big drop was mocked up on the grounds of WDI’s campus in Glendale for testing of the angle, the distance, and the splash.

Look for the image of a tiger’s face embedded in the rock wall at the top of the lift. It hints at the spirit of the mountain

Hi guys one more update for today. I went shopping with my mom today. Yay more clothes! Well the goal of this trip was to get some cheap shorts and a tye dye kit from AC Moore. Tomorrow we're tye dying with the kids at the daycare I work at and had to run out to get supplies. Well I did get my tye dye kit but I got some extra stuff along the way. Here are my most recent (and last, at least with clothes) purchases!!

One pair of shorts!!
DSCN1176.jpg

These next pair of shorts I wasn't too sure about but my mom told me to keep an open mind and at least try them on. Well I did and as I was looking at them they started looking cuter and cuter. So I ended up getting them, they are so unlike anything I would ever pick out for myself but I like them!
DSCN1175.jpg

Here's the top to go with those shorts. I think it's part of the reason I liked the shorts so much, the outfit together just looks so cute!
DSCN1180.jpg

Ok so I was just going to wear a nice pair of shorts to our dinner at LeCellier but then I thought, hey I don't wear skirts that much, I really don't have a reason to so why not, I'll look for a skirt to wear so it'll be just a little bit more special! This last pic is of the shirt I'll wear with with the skirt. It looks kinda plain but it looks really cute with the colorful pattern on the skirt!!
