Woody's Roundup Cookout?

I knew I had a picture from Big Thunder Ranch BBQ and I finally found it!

This is me & my cousin disneyL0VE enjoying lunch with my parents!

I can't wait to go back again when I'm at DLR in May for my birthday! WOO!! :goodvibes

OMgosh! You two are adorable in this pic!!!

I remember that barbecue meal was something like $11 for all that food. It was such a great deal. :)

This will give a nice alternative for a character meal that the whole family should enjoy. :)

Thanks Mary Jo!!

I know, I can't believe we got all that food for that price! I mean, look at that cheesecake, its pretty huge for one person !!!

I'm so excited about going back there again, I can't wait.

Jasmine!! That picture is adorable!!! You guys need to take a NEW picture like that! With the ribs and everything!!

Wow, this would be great for DD's 5th birthday! Wish they'd at least post the price. I can't stand waiting to plan things. I doubt Buzz Lightyear would be there as he's not country themed, but he is Toy Story. Buzz is DD's 2nd favorite character behind Ariel. Considering Ariel's Grotto for her birthday but she's already done tons of princess character dinners. Happiest Birthday on Earth for 15.99 definitely has the best price tag. Can't wait to hear the cost and more details about Celebration Roundup.

Yes, but that's also taking into consideration that it isn't actually a meal. The Birthday Parties come with some entertainment, punch and individual cackes, and a surprise appearance by some Disney friends. The Cookout sounds like it will be more on the end of Food food thus, I'd expect it to be more in the $20+ range if it's run by plate, and in the $30-40 if it somehow ends up being a buffet.

I wonder if they'll have vegetarian options....?

I'm a goof, I've had a menu all this time and I never posted it, lol.

It'll be a Family-style-service Restaurant, in the same style as Liberty Tree Cavern at the Magic Kingdom Park at WDW.

Some highlights from their menu:
  • BBQ Chicken & Ribs or BBQ Tofu and Vegetable Skewers
  • Ranch Cole Slaw
  • Corn on the Cob
  • Vegetarian Baked Beans
  • Corn Bread & Biscuits
  • Celebration Cupcakes (Fresh Fruit will also be available)

Does any one have current info on the opening date? The disneyland website still states April 1st, but when I called disney dinning to find out more info about it the other day, the CM said it will not be opening in april, but did not have a new date for me.

With the rains the way they have been and the amount of digging I saw I am not surprised that it won't be opening on time. If they get more clear days, I bet they will be able to move a lot faster and get that up!

A question...I'm not sure if I've asked this one or not....

We are a family of three. Two of us will eat the food served at this meal. My older son, however, wouldn't touch anything on the menu other than the cornbread. Would they let him bring in CS meal and sit with us without paying or would I have to pay the $37 or whatever just for entertainment???

Having such a picky eater is a major pain! I don't think he'd want to have to go find things to do for an hour or so while his brother and I attended this without him.

Ideas?

If it's like Ariel's Grotto, Goofy's Kitchen, and Minnie and Friends, yes. He would have to be paid for in full.

Does family-style-service mean like how they service breakfast now at Ariel's Grotto? Where they just give you a big platter of food and your whole table shares?

The BBQ tofu and veggie skewers sounds yummy! :yay:

I have not had family style at DL, but I have at WDW. They bring enough food for the people in your party and you kind of serve yourself on your own individual plate. It's like they bring the buffet to you.:thumbsup2

Hi January! :wave2:

I think the only place they have it at DLR is Ariel's Grotto? But only breakfast.

But that's good they bring the buffet to you!!! Smart thinking, Disney!! :thumbsup2

It would be fantastic if it were family style. One of the problems we are having with the character dinners (other than Ariels) is we want to be able to sit and relax and not be up and down, up and down, up and down with the kids to the buffet.
Now I just need the workers to get busy so it can open by our trip late April.

Tell me about it. I blame it on the rain. It's impossible to work in dirt (mud?) with it raining like crazy.

But I really want it to be open by my birthday trip!!!!

The theme seems to be around birthdays and celebrations. Wonder if they will let you in if you are not celebrating anything and just want to go for BBQ and entertainment?

With their new theme this year, expect for the free on your birthday, I have felt that it is clebrate anything. So, you are at Disney, celebrate life, celebrate fun, celebrate being on vacation with your family.
And yes I think they will let you in if you are not celebrating a birthday, anniversary, etc.
