Woo hoo!

We live in Vegas so CSR doesn't really appeal to me. CBR looks beautiful but I just read the CBR thread and there sure are a lot of negative comments.

My advice is to take the negative comments with a grain of salt as every resort has both good and bad reviews. Like the pp's, we loved CBR and had a great stay and wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. Try to worry as I'm sure you'll have a great trip. CBR is a beautiful resort. Hope you have a great time :wizard:.

Woohoo!! That's awesome.

Regarding the thread, they all have good and bad. Here's the thing. I am not CBR biggest fan, but that doesn't mean you won't be! For me it was just preference and what I am used to (I hate change lol). As you can see we only stayed deluxe before. It was just a different experience and wasn't for us. The grounds are gorgeous, it's not as big as people make it out to be and its peaceful and relaxing (we were worried about the outside hallways but never once heard anyone). I didn't love he bus service, but as soon as I learned to get off at the first return stop and walk to my room, I liked it a lot better, and really appreciate those walks!

I'm only mildly worried about the bus service and I know we'll love the beauty of the resort. It looks gorgeous! My biggest concern is the pirate beds. My husband is 6'4 and close to 300 pounds. I'm worried he's going to be uncomfortable and not get any sleep

Sleep at WDW? What's that?

I think the negatives concerning the pirate rooms are valid concerns....

That's what I was afraid of. I wish I would have done better research before changing hotels. Because it's a water view room it's costing us 400 more. Now it's too late to change back, our room at CSR is gone.

When are you going? Are there any other resorts that have availability for free dining? Have you done the math- could you look at a room discount instead and pay OOP for food?

We're going Dec 14th to the 21st. My DH and 2 boys are big eaters. We are actually worried the DP won't be enough food.
I guess I'll just keep checking everyday to see if we can switch back to CSR (although I'd rather not, lol) or get a regular room at CBR.
Whatever happens we'll make the best of it and have a great time

Then why would you switch? Most of the negative comments that don't have to do with bus service have to do with how uncomfortable the pirate beds are. And how small they are.

Why not keep the resort that you had until/if a standard room opens up at CBR? I know I'm kind of being the voice of doom and gloom, but how unhappy will your husband be if he can't sleep well? How unhappy will that make the rest of you? A Disney trip is exhausting enough, I wouldn't book a resort when I had a good idea one of us wouldn't get a good night's rest.

I didn't know about the pirate beds before I switched and now there are no standard rooms at CSR. It's totally my fault for not doing more research first. It just didn't occur to me that the beds would be an issue.

@shellsbells - did you book one of the pirate rooms? most of the rooms in the resort have normal queen beds, and the pirate ones are a separate category.

If you end up having to keep the pirate room, could you maybe pack along an air mattress? Give hubby one bed, have you and one child in one, then another child on the air mattress?

Yeah, we booked water view pirate room. I'm just going to keep my fingers crossed a standard room opens up.

We probably could do that or ask for a cot. The boys are 9 and 15 and my step sons so they wouldn't be sleeping with me. But one can sleep on the cot.
It's really how tall my husband is that I'm worried about. He's very easy going so I don't think he'll be too upset but I know he thinks this trip was overpriced and I really want him to enjoy himself. It'll be a first wdw trip for all of them.
I think I might call and see what reservations can do...if anything.
I don't expect them to do anything since this is my fault but it can't hurt to ask
