Just booked a trip for the 2009 marathon in January. Got VWL for 5 nights from the 3rd to the 8th, then SSR from the 8th to the 13th. This is pretty close to what we wanted. We tend to do more DTD in the later stages of the trip so SSR for the last 5 nights is good. We were pretty open to anywhere we hadn't stayed before for the first 5 nights.
We got VWL and I'm pretty excited. We had dinner at Artist Point the last time we were at WDW and the lodge and the pool looked great. I'm hoping the Villas are just as good.
The only thing now is that we changed our mind on when we are going. We got flights on airline points on the 1st now, which means that we need a room for the first two nights. I've waitlisted at VWL, so we'll see what happens.
I'm so excited. After going years between visits to WDW, buying into DVC and getting annual passes has made it pretty easy for us to decide to go more often. We went once in 2007, twice in 2008 and now January 2009. Four trips in 19 months. Considering we live about 2500 miles for WDW (driving distance) with no direct flights, this is a surprise to us.
The only problem is we have borrowed nearly all our 2009 UY points to make this happen, so we'll have to take a year off from Disney. Which might not be a bad thing.
