Just a quick note to thank all the DISers here who gave lots of great suggestions concerning luggage. I decided on buying two new pieces of luggage, one of which I got on sale at e-bags. Both are screaming purple, which my DH was a little taken aback by, but after expaining all the black luggage at the airport he quickly got the idea.

I ended up with a 27" rolling piece that is heavier, but will be great for the suits & dresses, and I'll pack the lighter stuff in too. I also got a rolling duffle (again careful to check the airline restrictions and take into account weight) for the awkward & heavier items.

These two along with a couple carry-ons will do it for our family of four, for as you expert DISpackers know, I will pack then full the take out half!::yes::

Screaming purple? Awesome!!! You should whip right thru the luggage carosel!!! Have a great trip!

Loud luggage is the best!!
Ours is black, but hubby spices it up with colored duct tape and then I complete the effect by cable tying color hair scrunchies to the handles. You can bet no one ever grabs our bags by mistake.

Even though we all have black luggage...my MIL makes us yarn pom-poms in a BRIGHT Color. At first I thought this was a little weird but I LOVE IT. It works great. You ALWAYS know which luggage is yours. (Without these the other luggage all look alike). If you can't make them, tie bright colored ribbon on them. You'll be able to spot them really easily! Just another little tip. (Every little bit counts).

We put stickers of my DH's favorite football team, The Steelers (please, no booing!!) all over our luggage on our last WDW trip this past Oct. Our luggage is the same old boring black stuff 99% of all travelers use. We figured we could spot our luggage quickly with the Steeler stickers on them. We ended up watching the other folks grabbing their stuff and began thinking our luggage hadn't made the trip with us. It turned out the baggage handlers apparently didn't like the Steeler and removed all of our stickers. Boo Hiss!!! DH was a little perturbed.

Anyone have other suggestions? I like the pom-pom idea!!

That's nasty taking off those stickers! I wonder how long it took them to do that-can you imagine with all the real work and extra security they are supposed to be doing (we hope) someone still managed that?

Anyway, the pom-poms, hair scrunchies and colored duct tape sound like great ideas. Like you say, anything extra that helps make the bag stand out is a good thing.

I wonder if anyone has adapted to luggage the suggested trick so your stroller doesn't get accidentally taken in the MK- you remember; tie to the handle of your stroller a clear plastic bag containing a diaper with Coke/Pepsi poured over it to make it look convincingly dirty. No one will go near your stoller or your luggage.:teeth:

I used fabric paint and stencils on ours after our bag wasn't with the rest of our luggage when we got off the ship. It turned later - had taken a side vacation to Indiana....

I did the same thing with fabric paint and stencils. My blue suitcase had a bright neon Yellow and Orange pineapple on it (My large one as well as my smaller rolling carryon) and my husbands has a neon red and yellow fire dept. symbol!

My husband rolled his eyes when the UPS guys delivered my "Mickey Comic strip" luggage but it does come in handy at the airport, I just discreetly laugh to myself as people continually pull off the "wrong" piece of luggage from the carousel.
